Abstract
In the article, on the example of news information, the role of evaluative vocabulary as a means of reflecting the social and political processes of society in mass communication is analyzed. The authors note that in the context of the aggravation of the situation and the information war, the task of the media, on the one hand, is to neutralize the influence of others, on the other hand, to influence the population in order to consolidate it. Language units that directly or indirectly express both positive and negative assessment of socio-political processes can act as a means to implement these tasks. The material for the analysis was the publications published on the RIA Novosti information website on the imposition of sanctions against Russia. In the course of the analysis of empirical material, the authors draw conclusions about the peculiarities of the impact of mass communication texts on different audiences.
