Abstract
Law of the Russian Federation on the amendment to the Constitution of the Russian Federation of March 14, 2020 No. 1-FKZ Art. 67 of the Constitution was supplemented with a provision on the possibility of forming in Russia territories with a special status — federal territories. This normative prescription has become the subject of extensive discussion in the legal literature. In particular, the opinion has been repeatedly expressed that the introduction of federal territories can lead to the leveling of the independence of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The author of the article analyzes the experience of establishing such territories abroad and in Russia and considers them from the point of view of the influence of such territories on the independence of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
