Abstract
Purpose. To evaluate the long-term results of laser photocoagulation of valvular retinal detachments. Material and methods. The subjects of the study (retrospectively) were 51 patients (57 eyes) with valvular retinal detachment. According to the observation period, 3 groups were divided: 61 months and older (18 eyes), 13–60 months (19 eyes), 6–12 months (20 eyes). Laser photocoagulation of the retina was performed in all eyes with valvular retinal detachment. The clinical effect of treatment was assessed in all groups of patients. Conclusion. Laser photocoagulation of valvular retinal detachment avoids RRD in 87.7 % of cases, and avoids vitreoretinal surgery in 96.5 % of cases with a follow-up period of more than 60 months. Keywords: valvular retinal detachment; rhegmatogenous retinal detachment; laser photocoagulation of the retina; long-term results
