Abstract

The paper presents the results of an experimental study of improving the physical and mechanical properties of mineral-filled polyethylene (MFPE) by adding high-aspect alumina nanofibers. It is shown that at a weight concentration of alumina nanofibers of 0.1 wt. %, the tensile strength increases from 3.82 ± 0.04 to 6.70 ± 0.07 MPa, and Young's modulus increases from 1.08 ± 0.01 to 1.38 ± 0.01 GPa relative to the MFPE. The MFPE / Al2O3 nanofiber composite can be described by a model of weak adhesive interaction of the filler with the matrix with high friction.
