Abstract
A comprehensive financial and economic analysis of the activities of the two largest fright railways of the first class of the United States was carried out in the article. This analysis has made it possible to identify a number of tools and methods that ensure the achievement of a level of financial efficiency and a previous level of profitability, while reducing the volume of cargo transportation.

Abstract: a comprehensive financial and economic analysis of the activities of the two largest fright railways of the first class of the United States was carried out in the article. В данной статье рассматривается проблема функционирования американских железных дорог первого класса США в условиях изменения конъюнктуры рынка. На их долю приходится более 94% доходов от грузовых перевозок, что составляет более 69 млрд долл. Крупнейшими компаниями являются BNSFRailway и Union Pacific, доли которых в общем объеме грузовых перевозок США в 2017 году составили соответственно 38,42% и 29,69%.
