Abstract

The article considers modal words as a means of verbalization of intentional states in the modern journalistic discourse of Germany. The author has developed an intentional approach that allows revealing the potential of these linguistic units in the aspect of this scholarly problem. The factual basis of this research is represented by journalistic texts as fragments of discourse, which were extracted by continuous sampling from such modern periodicals in Germany as «Deutschland» and «Spiegel».
