Abstract

Purpose. Analysis of the results of optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the anterior segment of the eye in patients with chronic keratoconjunctivitis in the post-covid period. Material and methods. We observed 11 patients (11 eyes) with keratoconjunctivitis. The age of the patients ranged from 20 to 61 years. The control group consisted of 10 healthy individuals (10 eyes). All these subjects underwent standard ophthalmic examination involving visometry, pneumotonometry, perimetry, biomicroscopy, B-scanning and ophthalmoscopy. Results. On the epithelial map of the anterior OCT, a thickening of the epithelial layer of the cornea up to 84 µm was revealed in 9 patients with a norm of 71 µm. A thickening of the epithelial layer by 13.2 % was noted compared with the control group. When the total thickness of the cornea in patients with keratoconjunctivitis was measures, a slight increase in all layers was observed, while the thickness of the cornea was 565 ± 6.3µm. Therefore, this figure was 5 % higher than normal values. The epithelial layers of the cornea increased more than the entire corneal stroma in patients with keratoconjunctivitis in the post-covid period. Conclusion. Patients with keratoconjunctivitis in the post-covid period showed an increase in the epithelial layers of the cornea by 13.2 % compared to the entire thickness of the cornea. Keywords: keratoconjunctivitis, postcovid period, anterior optical coherence tomography.
