The collection of words, their meanings and synonym’s, The idioms and their meaning in specific cultural background, origin of the words and their correct pronunciations is really a great task for the compiler of dictionary in any language. The tradition of compilation of Urdu dictionaries has a prolonged history. From the very beginning, Urdu dictionaries are compiled time by time. “Kaleed e Akhbaar beeni” is one of the historical dictionary of Urdu language. This dictionary was compiled by Zia ud din Barni and was published in 1915. The researcher has shed light on the distinguished features of this dictionary keeping in view the tradition and history of Urdu dictionaries.
