Abstract
The article provides a comparative analysis of the definition of the concept of unemployed according to the norms of the old and new legislation on employment. The authors consider the transformation of the content of such features of the unemployed as lack of employment and readiness for a suitable job. Attention is drawn to the novelties in the order of registration of citizens for the purpose of suitable work. The analysis of the norms of the new Employment Law made it possible to identify new approaches to defining the legal concept of the unemployed and identify some related problems of legal regulation.
