Abstract

The paper considers the spiritual and moral values of the people in the novella “The red island floated on the ocean” by the modern Bashkir writer Munir Kunafin. The aim of the study is to identify the ways of reflecting the peculiarities of the national attitude to the world in this novella. Scientific originality lies in the following: it is the first time that the specifics of reflecting the moral foundations of the people in modern Bashkir literature has been described using the example of Munir Kunafin’s novella. The researchers have analysed the national world based on age-old traditions recreated in the novella. The mythological images and symbols used by the writer to reveal the characters’ personalities, to show the vital values of the people have also been described. As a result of the study, the spiritual and moral foundations of the Bashkir people, in which family and traditions were perceived as basic values, have been identified.
