Abstract
The article defines the essence of the concept of spiritual and moral values in youth education. It considers the aspects and stages of humanitarian students’ formation of spiritual and moral values. Special attention is paid to the problems of improving the process of spiritual and moral values education. The fact that the appeal of the education system to the idea of spiritual and moral values education is not accidental as it is the key to the revival of Ukrainian society. Cult consumption, moral degradation of youth, which is expressed in adolescent drug addiction and alcoholism is evidence of the decline and spiritual crisis of modern society and the individual as a whole. Undoubtedly, today it is in the state’s interest to ensure the spiritual and moral development of students. Therefore, the task and strategy of the higher school is to teach students to interact on the basis of spiritual and moral values in harmony with other people, themselves and the world around them. In modern conditions, the role of educational institutions in the formation of spiritual and moral personality is important. The model of education, in this case, should be based on the principles of democracy and humanism, creating conditions for the development and self-realization of the individual.The process of spiritual and moral values education aims at creating favorable conditions for students to assimilate moral and spiritual values and ideals, mastering the spiritual and moral culture, the formation of moral feelings, stable moral qualities and skills of moral behavior, as well as value orientations. Concerning the main problems in the spiritual and moral values education, the problem is related to the preparation of future teachers, capable to become spiritual mentors and nurture spiritual and moral values among young people.
