Abstract

The study aims to substantiate the necessity and possibility of scientific volunteering development as a new area of volunteering activities for schoolchildren and students. The paper presents the experience of successful volunteering activities of children and young people in the field of science using the example of projects in the spheres of agriculture and biology implemented by V. A. Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences of Russian Academy of Sciences on the “Volunteer Naturalist” platform. The scientific novelty of the paper lies in shedding light on the features of scientific volunteering organisation as a new area of volunteering activities for schoolchildren and students contributing to self-realisation, acquisition of necessary knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as career guidance of students in educational organisations of secondary and higher education. As a result, it has been proved that the involvement of schoolchildren and students as scientific volunteers contributes not only to their participation in various research projects, broadening their outlook, but also popularises science among young people and helps schoolchildren and students in their further career guidance.
