Abstract
It is shown that the grades in the certificates received by graduates do not guarantee the knowledge and skills inherent in their description, which subsequently becomes the reason for the expenditure of time and resources on correcting the programs and content of the “Foreign Language” discipline. The importance of entrance examination is discussed, which allows determining the level of student readiness for further learning activities in a university. Some ways to solve the problems identified as a result of the analysis are proposed.
