New properties of the content of digital educational resources are investigated and examples of new didactic functions are given. The main reasons that stimulate the development and implementation of blended learning are identified: the desire to create a personification of the learning model; increasing the diversity of individual motivation of students; transition to the state system of online testing; the need to increase study time and expand the list of available learning resources; improving the conditions of pedagogical and educational activities; reducing the cost of information and pedagogical technologies; habituation of students and their parents to the use of mobile educational applications; interest in overcoming the significant gap between the needs of modern production technologies and readiness for such technologies of graduating schools with different starting access to information resources and their IT competence. The advantages and disadvantages of full-time and distance learning of chemistry in comparison with other types of education, in particular blended, are considered. Problems in the development of distance learning models are identified – insufficient IT literacy, dependence on technology, broadband Internet, stability of the online mode, lack of unlimited tariffs, rigidity of certain forms, the dominance of narrow subject specialization in curriculum development.
