Abstract

The article presents results of the study of organizational, legal and applied aspects of the use of polygraph by polygraph examiners of security, defense and law enforcement agencies (n=89) for the evaluation of reliability of candidates to service. The authors identify such challenging organizational, legal and applied aspects as: exceeding the permitted load on a polygraph examiner, lack of time for a high-quality pre-test conversation, the pressure of third parties on a polygraph examiner and the absence of any clear criteria in the determination of separate factors of risk of socially dangerous behavior. Moreover, the majority of polygraph examiners noted that there is a need for annual advanced training. Following the results of this study, the authors give practical recommendations on the identifi ed aspects.
