Abstract

The aim of the research is to substantiate that the students – future translators and teachers of foreign languages – should learn the rarely used vocabulary in the course of “Russian and Speech Culture”. This article demonstrates the possibilities of using interactive methods for teaching the course of “Russian and Speech Culture” to students. In the article the necessary theoretical minimum which includes terms, professionalisms, jargon, argotisms, dialectisms, regionalisms has been described. The examples of vivid illustrative classical and modern language material are given. The interactive practical tasks such as questions for interactive lecture, using audio and video materials, research project work have been suggested. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the content of the module “Rarely used vocabulary” (theoretical material and practical tasks) has been worked out for the course “Russian and Speech Culture” in view of its learning addressee (future translators and teachers of foreign languages) so that it implies using actual pedagogical technologies. As a result, the volume of studied theoretical material has been defined; the examples of language illustrations have been introduced. The examples of practical tasks based on using of actual pedagogical technologies have been developed. These tasks are aimed not only at understanding the theoretical bases of the course but comprehending the value of this course for students’ future careers. This fact will promote the students’ motivation to study and their revitalization towards the development of their creative abilities and knowledge extension.
