Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the peculiarities of the views on the possibility of interaction between theatre and school in the formation of a child’s personality of the prominent Russian pedagogues N. I. Pirogov, K. D. Ushinsky and N. N. Bakhtin. The chronological framework of the study covers the second half of the XIX century – the first decades of the XX century. The paper analyses the pedagogical ideas of N. I. Pirogov, K. D. Ushinsky and N. N. Bakhtin, identifies the historical and pedagogical conditions of their formation, determines similarities and differences in their views on the expected results of children’s and adolescents’ participation in theatre productions. The novelty of the study consists in clarifying a number of theses reflected in modern scientific publications regarding the content of N. I. Pirogov’s, K. D. Ushinsky’s and N. N. Bakhtin’s pedagogical views on the problem of theatre-school interaction on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of these views. As a result, the conclusion is made about the relevance of addressing the history of pedagogical ideas in modern conditions of the mass development of school theatres.
