Abstract

The aim of the study is to substantiate the effectiveness of using the project method in the process of professional competence formation among students during the implementation of the socio-cultural project “The Interactive Platform”. The paper describes the implementation of the project method in extracurricular activities of students in the training programme “Pedagogical Education with Two Training Programme Specialisations: Native Language and Literature, Russian Language and Literature” at Buryat State University. The study is novel in that it proposes the idea of using the project method as one of the active teaching methods to increase students’ internal motivation, which is a condition for professional competence formation in extracurricular activities of teacher trainees. As a result of the study, it has been found that project work allowed students to realise the social significance of their future profession, greatly increased their motivation to carry out their future professional activities and contributed to professional competence formation.
