Abstract

The monograph deals with the relevant issue of luxury in the discourse of social reality. The detailed analysis of luxury as a sociological and economic category, within which the issue fields of the phenomenon are defined, as well as the sociological optics of the study, makes it possible to identify the basic imperatives of luxury in the context of their socio-historical development, the dynamics of transformations in the perception of the phenomenon in modern social reality. The etymological analysis of the concept of luxury carried out by the authors is justified, which made it possible to identify the semantic, moral and other components of the concept, the contradictions that arise in the course of the reduction of the sign-semantic imperatives of luxury, the peculiarity of worldview attitudes and value-normative guidelines that determine the essential and conceptual attitudes of the phenomenon
