Abstract

The paper focuses on organization of literary text interpretation and analysis in classes of the academ-ic discipline “The History of the English Literature” based on the taxonomy of educational objectives by an American educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom as one of the conditions for a bachelor stu-dent to acquire education programme knowledge in university. In light of modernization of education and adoption of new Federal State Educational Standards in Russia, the development of a system of tasks that involve mental operations ranging from simple reproduction of facts to complex processes of analysis and evaluation can become one of the ways to tackle problems related to development of students’ universal competencies, management of teaching and learning process of knowledge acqui-sition and skills formation, training of highly quali-fied specialists in the sphere of pedagogy.
