Abstract
In the publication included documents of the Kola district branch of the Diocesan School Council, stored in the State Archive of the Murmansk Region (GAMO. F. I-133). The content of the presented archival sources shows the specifics of the development of the primary education system and the position of teaching in the European Arctic at the end of the 19th century.
