Polyacrylonitrile containing La-doped ZnO nanodisks act as heterogenous catalyst in oxidative degradation of profenofos in field samples. The nanodisks on PAN fibers has unique characteristics for the processes including wurtzite structure of ZnO with no error phases. The degradation of the profenofos was processed under the UVand it shows that the reaction follows first-order kinetics and achieved 98.5% degradation within 210min as estimated by HPLC technique. GC–MS analysis confirmed the degradation of profenofos from the production of 2-chloro-4-bromophenol.This study shows that the material has unique property, the processes is found to be simple/feasible and economically viable.
