We present a comprehensive analysis of the semileptonic weak decays of Bc\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$B_c$$\\end{document} meson decaying to axial-vector (A) mesons for bottom-conserving and bottom-changing decay modes. We employ self-consistent covariant light-front quark model (CLF QM) that uses type-II correspondence to eliminate inconsistencies in the traditional type-I CLF QM. As a fresh attempt, we test the self-consistency in CLF QM through type-II correspondence for Bc→A\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$B_c \\rightarrow A$$\\end{document} meson transition form factors. We establish that in type-II correspondence the form factors for longitudinal and transverse polarization states are numerically equal and are free from zero-mode contributions, which confirms the self-consistency of type-II correspondence for Bc→A\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$B_c \\rightarrow A$$\\end{document} transition form factors. Furthermore, we ascertain that the problems of inconsistency and violation of covariance of CLF QM within the type-I correspondence are resolved in type-II correspondence for Bc→A\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$B_c \\rightarrow A$$\\end{document} transitions. We thoroughly investigate the effects of self-consistency between type-I and type-II schemes using a comparative analysis. In this investigation, we employ a direct calculation approach to determine the form factors within the space-like region. Subsequently, we employ a vector meson dominance (VMD)-inspired three-parameter form to extrapolate these form factors into the physically accessible region. This enables us to study the q2\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$q^2$$\\end{document} dependence of the form factors in weak hadronic currents for the whole accessible kinematic range for both bottom-conserving as well as bottom-changing transitions. In addition, we extend our analysis to predict the branching ratios of the semileptonic weak decays of Bc\\documentclass[12pt]{minimal} \\usepackage{amsmath} \\usepackage{wasysym} \\usepackage{amsfonts} \\usepackage{amssymb} \\usepackage{amsbsy} \\usepackage{mathrsfs} \\usepackage{upgreek} \\setlength{\\oddsidemargin}{-69pt} \\begin{document}$$B_c$$\\end{document} meson involving axial-vector meson in the final state to quantify the effects of self-consistency in these decays that were not studied before. We evaluate the lepton mass effect on these branching ratios and various other important physical observables, such as forward-backward asymmetries, lepton-side convexity parameter, asymmetry parameter, and longitudinal polarization asymmetries and fractions. Finally, we obtain the lepton flavor universality ratios for various decays.

Unpolarized generalized parton distributions of light and heavy vector mesons

We study the leading-twist unpolarized generalized parton distributions (GPDs) of light and heavy vector mesons, i.e., the $\ensuremath{\rho}$, $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$, and $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}}$, at zero skewness. An ansatz incorporating the zero-mode contribution is introduced to modify the light front overlap representation of GPDs. The leading Fock-state light front wave functions of vector mesons from Dyson-Schwinger and Bethe-Salpeter equations approach are then employed to study the meson GPDs. The light front spatial distribution of valence quarks within vector mesons is then studied with the impact parameter dependent GPD. We also investigate the electromagnetic and gravitational form factors, which are the first and second Mellin moments of the GPDs. The light-cone mass radius of $\ensuremath{\rho}$ is determined to be 0.30 fm, close to a recent Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model prediction of 0.32 fm. For $J/\ensuremath{\psi}$ and $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Upsilon}}$, they are predicted to be 0.151 fm and 0.089 fm respectively.

One-to-one correspondence between entanglement mechanics and black hole thermodynamics

We establish a one-to-one mapping between entanglement entropy, energy, and temperature (quantum entanglement mechanics) with black hole entropy, Komar energy, and Hawking temperature, respectively. We show this explicitly for 4-D spherically symmetric asymptotically flat and non-flat space-times with single and multiple horizons. We exploit an inherent scaling symmetry of entanglement entropy and identify scaling transformations that generate an infinite number of systems with the same entanglement entropy, distinguished only by their respective energies and temperatures. We show that this scaling symmetry is present in most well-known systems starting from the two-coupled harmonic oscillator to quantum scalar fields in spherically symmetric space-time. The scaling symmetry allows us to identify the cause of divergence of entanglement entropy to the generation of (near) zero-modes in the systems. We systematically isolate the zero-mode contributions using suitable boundary conditions. We show that the entanglement entropy and energy of quantum scalar field scale differently in space-times with horizons and flat space-time. The relation $E=2TS$, in analogy with the horizon's thermodynamic structure, is also found to be universally satisfied in the entanglement picture. We then show that there exists a one-to-one correspondence leading to the Smarr-formula of black hole thermodynamics for asymptotically flat and non-flat space-times.

The role of zero-mode contributions in the matching for the twist-3 PDFs e(x) and hL(x)

The perturbative procedure of matching was proposed to connect parton quasi-distributions that are calculable in lattice QCD to the corresponding light-cone distributions which enter physical processes. Such a matching procedure has so far been limited to the twist-2 distributions. Recently, we addressed the matching for the twist-3 PDF $g_T(x)$. In this work, we extend our perturbative calculations to the remaining twist-3 PDFs, $e(x)$ and $h_{L}(x)$. In particular, we discuss the non-trivialities involved in the calculation of the singular zero-mode contributions for the quasi-PDFs.

Ambiguities in the local thermal behavior of the scalar radiation in one-dimensional boxes

This paper reports certain ambiguities in the calculation of the ensemble average $\left<T_\mu{}_\nu\right>$ of the stress-energy-momentum tensor of an arbitrarily coupled massless scalar field in one-dimensional boxes in flat spacetime. The study addresses a box with periodic boundary condition (a circle) and boxes with reflecting edges (with Dirichlet's or Neumann's boundary conditions at the endpoints). The expressions for $\left<T^\mu{}^\nu\right>$ are obtained from finite-temperature Green functions. In an appendix, in order to control divergences typical of two dimensions, these Green functions are calculated for related backgrounds with arbitrary number of dimensions and for scalar fields of arbitrary mass, and specialized in the text to two dimensions and for massless fields. The ambiguities arise due to the presence in $\left<T^\mu{}^\nu\right>$ of double series that are not absolutely convergent. The order in which the two associated summations are evaluated matters, leading to two different thermodynamics for each type of box. In the case of a circle, it is shown that the ambiguity corresponds to the classic controversy in the literature whether or not zero mode contributions should be taken into account in computations of partition functions. In the case of boxes with reflecting edges, it results that one of the thermodynamics corresponds to a total energy (obtained by integrating the non homogeneous energy density over space) that does not depend on the curvature coupling parameter $\xi$ as expected; whereas the other thermodynamics curiously corresponds to a total energy that does depend on $\xi$. Thermodynamic requirements (such as local and global stability) and their restrictions to the values of $\xi$ are considered.

One-loop matching for the twist-3 parton distribution gT(x)

Perturbative matching relates the parton quasi-distributions, defined by Euclidean correlators at finite hadron momenta, to the light-cone distributions which are accessible in experiments. Previous matching calculations have exclusively focused on twist-2 distributions. In this work, we address, for the first time, the one-loop matching for the twist-3 parton distribution function $g_T(x)$. The results have been obtained using three different infrared regulators, while dimensional regularization has been adopted to deal with the ultraviolet divergences. We present the renormalized expressions of the matching coefficient for $g_{T}(x)$ in the $\overline{\rm MS}$ and modified $\overline{\rm MS}$ schemes. We also discuss the role played by a zero-mode contribution. Our results have already been used for the extraction of $g_T(x)$ from lattice QCD calculations.

Zero-mode contribution and quantized first-order apparent phase transition in a droplet quark matter

The finite size effect on hadron physics and quark matter has attracted much interest for more than three decades, normally both the periodic (with zero-momentum mode) and the anti-periodic (without zero-momentum mode) spatial boundary condition are applied for fermions. By comparing the thermodynamical potential, it is found that if there is no other physical constraint, the droplet quark matter is always more stable when the periodic spatial boundary condition is applied, and the catalysis of chiral symmetry breaking is observed with the decrease of the system size, while the pions excited from the droplet vacuum keep as pseudo Nambu-Goldstone bosons. Furthermore, it is found that the zero-momentum mode contribution brings significant change of the chiral apparent phase transition in a droplet of cold dense quark matter: the 1st-order chiral apparent phase transition becomes quantized, i.e., the 1st-order apparent phase transition is completed in two steps, which is a brand-new quantum phenomena. It is expected that the catalysis of chiral symmetry breaking and the quantized 1st-order apparent phase transition are common features for fermionic systems with quantized momentum spectrum with zero-mode contribution, which also show up in quark matter under magnetic field.

Form factors of V\u2032 \u2192 V\u2033 transition within the light-front quark models

In this paper, we calculate the matrix element and form factors of vector-to- vector (VI→ VII) transition within the standard light-front (SLF) and covariant light- front (CLF) quark models (QMs), and investigate the self-consistency and Lorentz covari- ance of the CLF QM within two types of correspondences between the manifest covariant Bethe-Salpeter approach and the LF approach. The zero-mode and valence contributions to the form factors of VI→ VII transition in the CLF QM and their relation to the SLF results are analyzed, and the main conclusions obtained via the decay constants of vector and axial-vector mesons and the form factors of P → V transition in the previous works are confirmed again. Furthermore, we present our numerical predictions for the form factors of c → (q, s) (q = u, d) induced D*→ (K*, ρ), D∗→ (ϕ, K*), J/Ψ → left({D}_s^{ast },{D}^{ast}right) , {B}_c^{ast}to left({B}_s^{ast },{B}^{ast}right) transitions and b → (c, s, q) induced B∗ → (D∗, K∗, ρ), {B}_s^{ast}to left({D}_s^{ast },phi, {K}^{ast}right) , {B}_c^{ast}to left(J/varPsi, {D}_s^{ast },{D}^{ast}right),varUpsilon (1S)to left({B}_c^{ast },{B}_s^{ast },{B}^{ast}right) the relevant phenomenological studies of meson decays.

Transverse densities and generalized parton distributions of the ρ meson in the light front quark model

We have investigated the transverse charge density for longitudinal and transversely polarized $\rho$ meson in light-front quark model (LFQM). Charge densities are obtained from the elastic form factors of the $\rho$ meson calculated in LFQM including the zero-mode contributions. We have computed the different helicity matrix elements of the $\rho$ meson. In addition to this, we have also presented the results for the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) and impact-parameter dependent parton distribution functions (ipdpdfs) of the $\rho$ meson.

Self-consistency and covariance of light-front quark models: Testing via P , V , and A meson decay constants, and P→P weak transition form factors

In this paper, we test the self-consistencies of the standard and the covariant light-front quark model and study the zero-mode issue via the decay constants of pseudoscalar ($P$), vector ($V$) and axial-vector ($A$) mesons, as well as the $P\to P$ weak transition form factors. With the traditional type-I correspondence between the manifestly covariant and the light-front approach, the resulting $f_{V}$ as well as $f_{^1\!A}$ and $f_{^3\!A}$ obtained with the $\lbd=0$ and $\lbd=\pm$ polarization states are different from each other, which presents a challenge to the self-consistency of the covariant light-front quark model. However, such a self-consistency problem can be "resolved" within the type-II scheme, which requires an additional replacement $M\to M_0$ relative to the type-I case. Moreover, the replacement $M\to M_0$ is also essential for the self-consistency of the standard light-front quark model. In the type-II scheme, the valence contributions to the physical quantities~(${\cal Q}$) considered in this paper are alway the same as that obtained in the standard light-front quark model, $[{\cal Q}]_{\rm val.}=[{\cal Q}]_{\rm SLF}$, and the zero-mode contributions to $f_{V,^1\!A,^3\!A}$ and $f_-(q^2)$ exist only formally but vanish numerically, which implies further that $[{\cal Q}]_{\rm val.}\dot{=} [{\cal Q}]_{\rm full}$. In addition, the manifest covariance of the covariant light-front quark model is violated in the traditional type-I scheme, but can be recovered by taking the type-II scheme.

Spin-1 Particles and Perturbative QCD

Due to the angular condition in the light-front dynamics (LFD), the extraction of the electromagnetic form factors for spin-1 particles can be uniquely determined taking into account implicitly non-valence and/or the zero-mode contributions to the matrix elements of the electromagnetic current. No matter which matrix elements of the electromagnetic current is used to extract the electromagnetic form factors, the same unique result is obtained. As physical observables, the electromagnetic form factors obtained from matrix elements of the current in LFD must be equal to those obtained in the instant form calculations. Recently, the Babar collaboration \cite{Aubert2008} has analyzed the reaction $e^+ e^-\rightarrow \rho^+ + \rho^-$ at $\sqrt{s}=10.58 GeV$ to measure the cross section as well as the ratios of the helicity amplitudes $F_{\lambda'\lambda}$. We present our recent analysis of the Babar data for the rho meson considering the angular condition in LFD to put a stringent test on the onset of asymptotic perturbative QCD and predict the energy regime where the subleading contributions are still considerable.

Can Nano-Particle Melt below the Melting Temperature of Its Free Surface Partner?

The phonon thermal contribution to the melting temperature of nano-particles is inspected. The discrete summation of phonon states and its corresponding integration form as an approximation for a nano-particle or for a bulk system have been analyzed. The discrete phonon energy levels of pure size effect and the wave-vector shifts of boundary conditions are investigated in detail. Unlike in macroscopic thermodynamics, the integration volume of zero-mode of phonon for a nano-particle is not zero, and it plays an important role in pure size effect and boundary condition effect. We find that a nano-particle will have a rising melting temperature due to purely finite size effect; a lower melting temperature bound exists for a nano-particle in various environments, and the melting temperature of a nano-particle with free boundary condition reaches this lower bound. We suggest an easy procedure to estimation the melting temperature, in which the zero-mode contribution will be excluded, and only several bulk quantities will be used as input. We would like to emphasize that the quantum effect of discrete energy levels in nano-particles, which is not present in early thermodynamic studies on finite size corrections to melting temperature in small systems, should be included in future researches.

Electromagnetic Spin-1 Form-Factor Free of Zero-Modes

The electromagnetic current~$J^+$ for spin-1, is used here to extract the electromagnetic form-factors of a light-front constituent quark model. The charge ($G_0$), magnetic ($G_1$) and quadrupole $G_2$ form factors are calculated using different prescriptions known in the literature, for the combinations of the four independent matrix elements of the current between the polarisations states in the Drell-Yan frame. However, the results for some prescriptions relying only on the valence contribution breaks the rotational symmetry as they violate the angular condition. In the present work, we use some relations between the matrix elements of the electromagnetic current in order to eliminate the breaking of the rotational symmetry, by computing the zero-mode contributions to matrix elements resorting only to the valence ones.

Zero Modes of Quantum Graph Laplacians and an Index Theorem

We study zero modes of Laplacians on compact and non-compact metric graphs with general self-adjoint vertex conditions. In the first part of the paper the number of zero modes is expressed in terms of the trace of a unitary matrix $\mathfrak{S}$ that encodes the vertex conditions imposed on functions in the domain of the Laplacian. In the second part a Dirac operator is defined whose square is related to the Laplacian. In order to accommodate Laplacians with negative eigenvalues it is necessary to define the Dirac operator on a suitable Kre\u{\i}n space. We demonstrate that an arbitrary, self-adjoint quantum graph Laplacian admits a factorisation into momentum-like operators in a Kre\u{\i}n-space setting. As a consequence, we establish an index theorem for the associated Dirac operator and prove that the zero-mode contribution in the trace formula for the Laplacian can be expressed in terms of the index of the Dirac operator.

Electromagnetic form factors for spin-1 particles with the light-front

This work is dedicate to investigate the spin-1 electromagnetic form factors with the light-front quantum field theory approach. All prescriptions with the light-front approach are contamined by the zero-modes contribuitions to the electromagnetic matrix elements of the electromagnetic current with the plus component of the current; however, the Inna Grach prescriptions it is immune for the zero modes contribuitions. We show numerically the contribution of zero-modes for the electromagnetic current in the case of the vector particles in the light-front quantum field theory. Also the electromagnetic observables, like electromagnetic form factors, radius and the decay constant are presented.

Static gauge and energy spectrum of single-mode strings in AdS5 × S5

Motivated by the notorious difficulties in determining the first quantum corrections to the spectrum of short strings in AdS5 × S5 from first principles, we study closed bosonic strings in this background employing a static gauge. In this gauge the world-sheet Hamiltonian density is constant along the extension of the string and directly proportional to the square of the spacetime energy. We quantize this system in a minisuperspace approach, in which we consider only a single AdS5 string-mode excitation next to an arbitrary particle like zero-mode contribution in the full AdS5 × S5 background. We determine the quantum spectrum using this method to the next-to-next-to-leading order in the large 't Hooft coupling expansion. We argue for an ordering prescription which should arise from supersymmetrization and indeed recover the integrability based predictions for the spectrum of the lightest excitation, dual to the Konishi field scaling dimensions. The higher excitations fail to agree, but this is shown to be a consequence of the string-mode truncation employed. Despite this simple setup, our system reveals intriguing features, such as a close connection to particles in AdS6, classical integrability and preservation of the isometries of AdS5 × S5 at the quantum level.

Application of abelian holonomy formalism to the elementary theory of numbers

We consider an abelian holonomy operator in two-dimensional conformal field theory with zero-mode contributions. The analysis is made possible by use of a geometric-quantization scheme for abelian Chern-Simons theory on S1 × S1 × R. We find that a purely zero-mode part of the holonomy operator can be expressed in terms of Riemann's zeta function. We also show that a generalization of linking numbers can be obtained in terms of the vacuum expectation values of the zero-mode holonomy operators. Inspired by mathematical analogies between linking numbers and Legendre symbols, we then apply these results to a space of Fp = Z/pZ, where p is an odd prime number. This enables us to calculate “scattering amplitudes” of identical odd primes in the holonomy formalism. In this framework, the Riemann hypothesis can be interpreted by means of a physically obvious fact, i.e., there is no notion of “scattering” for a single-particle system. Abelian gauge theories described by the zero-mode holonomy operators will be useful for studies on quantum aspects of topology and number theory.

Light-front projection of spin-1 electromagnetic current and zero-modes

The issue of the contribution of zero-modes to the light-front projection of the electromagnetic current of phenomenological models of vector particles vertices is addressed in the Drell–Yan frame. Our analytical model of the Bethe–Salpeter amplitude of a spin-1 fermion–antifermion composite state gives a physically motivated light-front wave function symmetric by the exchange of the fermion and antifermion, as in the ρ-meson case. We found that among the four independent matrix elements of the plus component in the light-front helicity basis only the 0→0 one carries zero-mode contributions. Our derivation generalizes to symmetric models, important for applications, the above conclusion found for a simplified non-symmetrical form of the spin-1 Bethe–Salpeter amplitude with photon–fermion point-like coupling and also for a smeared fermion–photon vertex model.

Light-Front Zero-Mode Issue for the Transition Form Factors Between Pseudoscalar and Vector Mesons

We study the light-front zero-mode contribution to the transition form factors (g, f, a ±, T i ) (i = 1, 2, 3) for the exclusive semileptonic P → V lν l and rare P → V l +l− decays using a covariant fermion field theory model in (3+1) dimensions. While the zero-mode contribution in principle depends on the form of the vector meson vertex Γ μ = γ μ − (2k − P V ) μ /D, the six form factors (g, f, a +, T 1, T 2, T 3) are found to be free from the zero mode if the denominator D contains the term proportional to the light-front longitudinal momentum fraction factor (1/x) n of the struck quark with the power n > 0. Although the form factor a − is not free from the zero mode, the zero-mode contribution comes only either from the simple vertex Γ μ = γ μ term or from the other term just with a constant D (i.e. n = 0). We identify the zero-mode operator that is convoluted with the initial- and final-state valence wave functions to generate the zero-mode contribution to a −.

Selfconsistent evaluation of charm and charmonium in the quark-gluon plasma

A selfconsistent calculation of heavy-quark (HQ) and quarkonium properties in the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) is conducted to quantify flavor transport and color screening in the medium. The main tool is a thermodynamic T-matrix approach to compute HQ and quarkonium spectral functions in both scattering and bound-state regimes. The T-matrix, in turn, is employed to calculate HQ selfenergies which are implemented into spectral functions beyond the quasiparticle approximation. Charmonium spectral functions are used to evaluate Eulcidean-time correlation functions, which are compared to results from thermal lattice QCD. The comparisons are performed in various hadronic channels, including zero-mode contributions consistently accounting for finite charm-quark width effects. The zero modes are closely related to the charm-quark number susceptibility, which is also compared to existing lattice ‘data’. Both the susceptibility and the heavy-light quark T-matrix are applied to calculate the thermal charm-quark relaxation rate, or, equivalently, the charm diffusion constant in the QGP. Implications of our findings in the HQ sector for the viscosity-to-entropy-density ratio of the QGP are briefly discussed.
