A pulse width adjustable 2.05 μm Q-switched Ho: YLF oscillator was demonstrated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, with a configuration of double pockels cells. The pump source was a Tm: YAP solid-state laser with linear polarization. For a pump power of 61.53 W, a 32.5 mJ Ho laser with a pulse width of 19.2 ns and peak power of 1.69 MW was obtained at a pulse repetition frequency of 200 Hz. The corresponding optical conversion efficiency was 10.6 %. The measured M2 factors were 1.03 and 1.07 in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively. Moreover, continuously adjustable pulse width from 20.3 ns to 25.0 ns was attained by changing the amplitudes and delay time of the high voltage pulses applied to the two pockels cells. The corresponding output energies were entirely maintained in the range of 22.7–25.6 mJ with a pump power of 48.7 W. Furthermore, while the pulse width was adjusting, excellent beam quality with M2 factors better than 1.15 and high energy stability with RMS better than 1.90 % were also maintained, which would be of great significance to the practical application.
