Formation of Cu- centres due to electrolytic coloration in NaCl crystals containing Cu+ ions together with divalent cations is studied experimentally. It has been found that the presence of divalent cations in a certain amount, regardless of their kind (Ca2+, Sr2+ or Ba2+), is indispensable for the formation of Cu- centres. If the Ca2+ content is less than the optimum value, the yield of Cu- centres increases with the Ca2+ content, but if larger than the optimum value, it decreases with increase in Ca2+ content. The yield of Cu- centres decreases with temperature for electrolytic coloration.
