Content and Method of Studying Minority Traditional Villages and Dwellings Based on Cultural Geography

It is of great significance to strengthen the research on minority traditional villages and dwellings for maintaining ethnic multicultural ecology and promoting the revitalization of rural culture. In ethnic minority villages and houses the urgency of the research and protection, this paper discusses the cultural geography for the applicability of the ethnic minority villages and residential research, from the cultural ecology, cultural diffusion, regionalization and integration, culture and landscape, space and place, the respect such as comprehensive mechanism illustrates the traditional residence in ethnic minority villages and cultural geography research content and the advantage. This paper probes into the methods of cultural geography to reveal the characteristic cultural connotation of minority traditional villages, which lays a foundation for deepening disciplinary research and protecting minority villages. Taking Yao nationality as an example, this paper puts forward the framework of minority villages and dwellings research, aiming to further promote the breadth and depth of minority villages and dwellings research.

Research on the Innovative Design of "Pan Wang Seal" Pattern of Yao Nationality in Northern Guangdong

As one of the national intangible cultural heritages, "Panwang Seal" pattern is a typical symbol of Yao nationality. It has various forms, bright colors and profound cultural connotation. It has special decorative significance and high research value. It is of great significance to persist, develop and carry forward the excellent traditional culture of Yao nationality by deeply exploring the connotation and style characteristics of Yao nationality's "Panwang seal" pattern in northern Guangdong. "Panwang Seal" pattern provides rich materials and inspiration for modern pattern design, and researches and develops the patterns of Yao nationality in northern Guangdong, while protecting and spreading the national culture.

Digital Compilation and Arrangement of the Religious Sports Heritage of the Yao Nationality In Hunan

On the basis of analyzing the status quo of yao nationality's sports heritage protection in Hunan, this paper discusses the significance of digital protection of religious sports heritage, and discusses the strategy of digital compilation and collation of Yao nationality's religious sports heritage. Resource survey and data collation are put forward. Intelligent platform and digital museum construction; Leisure entertainment and industrialization development; the four ways and measures of digital talent training provide theoretical reference and technical support for the protection and development of yao religious sports heritage in Hunan.

Education and Literacy in the Development and Transmission of Chinese Yao Nationality Folk Songs

Chinese Yao Nationality Folk Songs are a distinctive cultural treasure thriving within the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, intimately intertwined with the lives and traditions of the Yao people. The objective of this study is to investigate the role of education and literacy in the development and transmission of Chinese Yao Nationality folk songs in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The research site, Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County, serves as a culturally significant backdrop, chosen for its accessibility and cultural relevance to the research objectives. To gain comprehensive insights into this complex topic, three key informants with specialized knowledge and cultural insights were meticulously selected. An array of research tools, including observation forms, interview forms, and questionnaires, were employed to gather data and analyze various aspects of Yao Nationality folk songs. The results reveal the multifaceted phases of development these songs have undergone, from their sacred origins to their role in communal celebrations and emotional expression. The transmission of these songs is showcased through a blend of oral traditions and written records, with a contemporary integration of media and technology. This research suggests the need for a balanced approach to preserving cultural heritage while embracing modernity.

Mining the Performance Characteristics of Yao Nationality Musical Instruments under Multivariate Statistical Analysis

Abstract In the context of the rapid development of modernization and urbanization, the inheritance and research of music and musical instruments by ethnic minorities are facing great challenges. It is, therefore, of enormous significance to uncover the performance characteristics of ethnic minority musical instruments. This paper focuses on four categories of Yao musical instruments, namely reed instruments, air-pipe instruments, wind instruments, and percussion instruments. We mine the performance features of Yao musical instruments using MFCC feature extraction, perceptual linear prediction parameter extraction, and other methods. The performance of this paper’s algorithm is explored by comparing the detection and recognition accuracy of its algorithm with SVM on four types of musical instruments. The performance characteristics of Yao musical instruments are explored by analyzing the timbre characteristics, auditory characteristics, and beat statistics of the four instruments. This paper’s algorithm significantly outperforms the SVM algorithm in the recognition correct rate of four different types of musical instruments, with differences of 2.1905%, 7.1574%, 5.3758%, and 3.6962%, respectively. The extracted performance features of Yao music instruments reveal that reed instruments and air-pipe instruments have a superior timbral effect than wind instruments and percussion instruments. The sound of pneumatic instruments and wind instruments is the best when it comes to audibility, and the beats of reed instruments and wind instruments are the best among the four instruments.

The overall image orientation of a tourist destination should analyze its context, geography, market sense and competitors. Based on the analysis of the context, geography, market sense and major competitors of Guangxi Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County, this paper proposes that the overall tourism image orientation of Guangxi Jinxiu Yao Autonomous County is "ecological Jinxiu, the world Yao capital." Starting from the connotation of ecotourism, this paper analyzes the impact of "Internet+" on the development of ecotourism and put forward countermeasures and suggestions from four aspects of coordinating the relationship between ecological protection and ecotourism, accelerating the construction of Internet infrastructure, establishing, and improving information integration platform, and providing personalized services, in order to promote the sustainable development of ecotourism.

Study on the Spectrum-Effect Correlation of Anti-Inflammatory Active Extract of Sauropus spatulifolius Beille.

Sauropus spatulifolius Beille (S. spatulifolius) is a commonly used medicine of the Bourau and Yao nationalities. However, the composition of S. spatulifolius is complex, and simple chemical fingerprints cannot accurately evaluate the relationship between its composition and efficacy. In this study, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was used to establish the fingerprint of the ethyl acetate extract of S. spatulifolius. Based on the evaluation of the similarity of chromatographic fingerprints of traditional Chinese medicine, combined with cluster analysis and principal component analysis (PCA), the common peaks of fingerprints were evaluated. The anti-inflammatory effect data were extracted through the dimethylbenzene-induced ear-swelling model in mice. The gray relational analysis (GRA) combined with partial least squares regression (PLSR) was used to study the spectrum-effect correlation of S. spatulifolius. As a result, the HPLC fingerprint of the ethyl acetate extract of S. spatulifolius was established, and 18 common peaks were identified. Except for S6, the other similarities are all above 0.915. The reference substance control method was used to identify two absorption peaks, namely, protocatechuic acid and caffeic acid. The cluster analysis results showed that 10 samples from different origins were grouped into four categories, which was consistent with the PCA results. Ethyl acetate extract of 10 batches of S. spatulifolius could significantly inhibit the ear swelling of mice (P < 0.01). Through GRA, the order of the contribution of each chemical component to the anti-inflammatory efficacy was obtained. The results of PLSR showed that the VIP values of peaks 3, 4, and 12 were greater than 1 and were positively correlated with anti-inflammatory activity. In this study, the HPLC fingerprint of the ethyl acetate extract of S. spatulifolius was established. Through the study of the spectrum-effect correlation, the anti-inflammatory active substance of the ethyl acetate extract of S. spatulifolius was obtained. The anti-inflammatory effect of S. spatulifolius was the result of the joint action of multiple ingredients. This research helps to quickly and accurately discover the active ingredient groups of traditional Chinese medicine and provides new ideas and methods for studying the effective substances of traditional Chinese medicine.

Ethnobotanical study on plants used to dye traditional costumes by the Baiku Yao nationality of China

BackgroundThe Baiku Yao is a branch of the Yao nationality in China. The unique dying process of traditional clothing employed by these people has distinct national characteristics, a profound impact on the production and life of local people, and important research value. For this reason, it is important to investigate and document the dyeing plants and the traditional knowledge involved in the dyeing of Baku Yao traditional clothing.MethodologyInformation on dyeing plants was obtained using the free-list method and interviews with 61 Baiku Yao informants in Guangxi and Guizhou from January 2020 to August 2021. Based on the free-list method, we evaluated and screened out important plants by calculating the cognitive salience value of each plant.ResultsThe results showed that the people of Baiku Yao have accumulated rich traditional knowledge of dyeing plants and long-term dyeing and other processes. We collected 23 species and recorded the related traditional knowledge, such as the Baiku Yao name, life form, habitat, part(s) used, application type, usage, and area used. The utilization of dyeing plants has a strong relationship with ethnic culture. The Baiku Yao uses unique anti-dyeing material (Ailanthus vilmoriniana) in the cotton dyeing process, they call it “the mother tree”. As well as, the results also showed that 15 plants (65.2%) have medicinal value and can be used to treat 18 aliments, and wild plants play a very important role in the life of the Baiku Yao.ConclusionThese plants not only meet the color needs of the Baiku Yao people but also have health care effects, aligning with the trends toward green dyeing and the health contentiousness of modern people. This study provides a reference for the inheritance and development of Baiku Yao traditional clothing dyeing culture, will aid the identification of new natural, safe and healthy textile dyes, and is of positive significance in promoting regional economic development, national cultural inheritance, and biodiversity protection.

Geographical distinctions of longevity indicators and their correlation with climatic factors in the area where most Chinese Yao are distributed.

Longevity research is a hot topic in the health field. Considerable research focuses on longevity phenomenon in Bama Yao Autonomous County, which has a typical karst landform and is located in Southwest China. This study aims to illustrate the spatial feature of longevity indicators in other Yao areas, to analyze the correlation between climatic factors and longevity indicators, and to provide new clues and targets for further longevity studies. We collect and integrate population, climate, and terrain data into a spatial database. The main analysis methods include spatial autocorrelation, high/low clustering, and multiscale geographically weighted regression (MGWR). Two longevity clusters are identified in Guijiang River Basin (longevity index (LI%): 2.49 ± 0.63) and Liujiang River Basin (LI%: 2.13 ± 0.60). The spatial distribution of longevity indicators is autocorrelative (Moran's I = 0.652, p < 0.001) and clustered significantly (Z score = 4.268, p < 0.001). MGWR shows that the atmospheric pressure significantly affects the spatial distribution of LI% (estimate value (EV) = - 0.566, p = 0.012), centenarity index (CI%) (EV = - 0.425, p = 0.007), UC (EV = - 0.502, p = 0.006), and CH (EV = - 0.497, p = 0.007). Rainfall significantly affects the spatial distribution of LI% (EV = 0.300, p = 0.003) and CI% (EV = - 0.191, p = 0.016). The spatial distribution of the main longevity indicators shows significant heterogeneity and autocorrelation, and they cluster in the Guijiang River and Liujiang River basins. Atmospheric pressure and rainfall may contribute to the longevity phenomenon through complex mechanisms. The longevity phenomenon in the Yao nationality in Guijiang River Basin requires further study to improve our understanding of the health effect of meteorological, environmental, and social conditions on longevity.

Exploring the relationship of family life, resilience and bullying with the use of tobacco in preadolescents

The study aimed at association of family life, resilience and bullying on the use of tobacco in preadolescents. A total of 4792 students from 5 junior schools in Baise City were recruited with cluster-sampling method, filled with questionnaire of family life, resilience, parents&apos; Control, bullying, initiation of tobacco and smoking from Feb. to Nov. 2018.The sample comprised of 52.63% male students and 46.66% female students. The average age was(11.8±0.5). There were 56.78% of students lived in city and 43.22% of students lived in county town; The nationality of the sample was as follows: Zhuang nationality 90.00%, Han nationality 7.62%, other minorities(Yao nationality, Miao nationality, Yi nationality, et al)2.05%. The Logistic regression was used to explore the effect. There were 9.75% and 6.97% of the sample reported initiation of tobacco and smoking respectively. The initiation of tobacco and smoking of boys were higher than that of girls(initiation of tobacco: χ~2=57.230, P&lt;0.001; smoking: χ~2=56.013, P&lt;0.001). The multivariate Logistic analysis showed gender was statistically significant factor of initiation of tobacco(OR=0.468, 95%CI 0.377-0.582) and smoking(OR=0.422, 95% CI 0.324-0.551), and age was statistically significant factor of initiation of tobacco(OR=1.609, 95% CI 1.446-1.791) and smoking(OR=2.026, 95%CI 1.776-2.310). Bullying was statistically significant factors of smoking(OR=1.106, 95% CI 1.073-1.140). Three protective factors were associated with a lower likelihood of initiation of tobacco(individual power: OR=0.964, 95% CI 0.951-0.976; family cohesion, OR=0.946, 95% CI 0.892-0.984; family rules, OR=0.949, 95%CI 0.930-0.965) and smoking(individual power: OR=0.962, 95% CI 0.947-0.977; family cohesion, OR=0.937, 95%CI 0.885-0.992; family rules, OR=0.952, 95%CI 0.932-0.973)in the final subscale model. Bullying increased the risk of smoking, while Individual power, family cohesion and family rules were associated with a lower likelihood of initiation of tobacco and smoking in preadolescents.

Associations between Apolipoprotein E Gene Polymorphism, Diet and Dyslipidemia in a Yao Minority Area, China

Objective: This study aimed to assess the effects of Apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene polymorphisms, dietary nutrient intake, and their interactions on the prevalence of dyslipidemia in a Yao minority area, China. Methods: rs429358, rs7412, rs7259620, and rs405509 of the APOE gene were genotyped in 1014 adults aged ≥30 years by using the MassArray system. Dietary nutrients intake data were ascertained from a 109-item food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Results: Multifactorial logistics regression analysis showed that dyslipidemia was associated with rs7412-CT/TT genotype (OR: 0.540, Bonferroni correction confidence interval: 0.336–0.869), high fat intake (OR: 1.644, 95% CI: 1.128–2.395), high saturated fatty acid (SFA) intake (OR: 1.668, 95% CI: 1.146–2.428), medium carbohydrate intake (OR: 0.634, 95% CI: 0.461–0.873) and high carbohydrate intake (OR: 0.591, 95% CI: 0.406–0.858). The results of logistics regression multiplication model showed that medium carbohydrate intake in the carriers of the rs7412 minor alleles was associated with a low risk of dyslipidemia (OR: 0.433, Bonferroni correction confidence interval: 0.199–0.941). Conclusions: Genetic variations at the rs7412, dietary fat, SFA, and carbohydrate intake and the interaction between APOE gene polymorphisms and carbohydrate intake are associated with dyslipidemia in Yao nationality people.

The Establishment of Kindergarten Environment Based on the Background of Traditional Culture in Shaoguan Area

The traditional culture of Shaoguan has a long history. The customs in Shaoguan area have strong Lingnan characteristics, and the colors of the Han nationality and the culture of the Yao nationality also have their own characteristics. There are rich types of folk culture and art, including tea-picking opera, Cantonese opera, dragon dance, lion dance and other folk songs and dances, as well as wood carving, embroidery and other folk crafts; there are also widely distributed ＂Panwang Festival＂ festivals to enhance national cohesion. Children are the hope of cultural inheritance. All walks of life, especially kindergartens and every family, should give children the influence of traditional culture, so that children can understand the culture and history of their own nation, feel the excellent traditional culture of their own nation, and cultivate a strong sense of national belonging.

Investigation on Chinese Manuscripts of Yao Nationality in Shaye Li Wu area, Laos

There are a large number of manuscripts written in Chinese characters mixed with Yao folk characters in Li Wu area of Shaye, Laos. These documents are precious materials for studying Yao culture and physical evidence of Chinese Han culture spreading along with Yao’s migration. After investigating 48 paper manuscripts in Chinese collected by Panyao Master in Shaye Li Wu, Laos, it is found that the contents of manuscripts are mainly related to Mongolian studies, literature and religious culture. Yao manuscripts in Chinese have a high recognition among Yao men in Shaye Li Wu area, Laos, but there is a danger of dying out gradually, so it is necessary to strengthen protection and inheritance. Coordinating the strength of the government and all parties, strengthening Chinese teaching, strengthening publicity and development and utilization, enhancing Yao women’s awareness of Chinese manuscripts, and establishing Yao cultural libraries and study centers are effective measures to protect Yao Chinese manuscripts and enhance the cohesion and self-confidence of local Yao ethnic groups.

The Ethyl Acetate Extraction Obtained from Podocarpus Nagikernel Meal with Anticancer Activity

Cancer is a major public health problem worldwide, and it is one of the top three major diseases in terms of mortality. Some small molecular synthesized drugs have been used clinically. However, much side-effects were also appeared during treatment of the cancer patients with the synthesized anticancer drugs in clinical. Some Chinese Traditional Plant Medicines have ever been used for treatment of cancer with the low side-effects. Thus, it is essential to find anticancer drugs or drug candidates from Chinese Traditional Plant Medicines. Podocarpus nagicontains different kinds of biological components together with a wide spectrum of biological activities, and it has ever been used in the folk of Yao Nationality for treatment different diseases. It is essential to study this folk plant medicine to discover new drugs or drug candidates. In this work, we obtained different polar extractions and evaluated their in vitro anticancer activity.

Study on regional characteristics of plant landscape in yao village of longsheng county

Taking the plant landscape of Baimian Yao Village and Huangluo Yao Village in the regional environment of Longsheng Autonomous County as the research object, combing and analyzing the status quo of their plant species and plant communities, and combining the folk culture and living area of the minority ethnic group in Guangxi—the Yao nationality,it summarizes the characteristics of plant landscape such as the application of native plant varieties, the level of plant vertical landscape space, and the combination of plant application and folk culture. In order to provide theoretical and practical guidance for the future plant landscape construction in this area.

A Study on the Poetic Ethics Phenomenon of the ceremony of Dujie among the Yao Nationality in the Area of Dayaoshan

From the perspective of national cultural identity, this article through the study of the poetic ethics phenomenon of the Dujie, attempts to question what poetic ethics is and why the ethics is poetic.in Dayaoshan,How the complex poetic ethics of the Yao nationality manifests in the ceremony of Dujie; aims to clarify the poetic thinking, poetic logic, and poetic wisdom contained in the poetic ethics phenomenon of the Dujie ceremony, and reveals how the Dujie ceremony inherits the national aesthetic cultural spirit and demonstrates the internal cultural generation mechanism of the national cultural identity.

Transcriptome analysis to identify genes involved in lignan, sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid biosynthesis in medicinal plant Kadsura heteroclita

Stems and roots of Kadsura plant species were the significant ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine. Kadsura heteroclita is one of the popular medicinal plants used in Tujia and Yao nationalities of China. Antioxidant compounds like lignan, sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid are the major active components of K. hetroclita. Mass cultivation and bio-manufacturing strategies were being proposed to meet the increasing demand of Kadsura species plant parts. Therefore, it is important to reveal the molecular networks involved in biosynthesis of these highly efficient medicinal compounds. Here, transcriptomes of roots, stems and leaves in K. heteroclite seedling were sequenced by Hiseq2000 and unigenes involved in biosynthesis of lignan, sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid biosynthesis were mined. As a result, 472 million clean reads were obtained which after aligning resulted in 160,248 transcripts and 98,005 genes. 191 and 279 unigenes were expected to be involved in biosynthesis of lignan, sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid biosynthetic pathways respectively. Lignan, sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid biosynthesis pathway genes were highly significant and differentially upregulated in roots and stems and downregulated in leaves. Also, genes encoding for MYB and bHLH transcription factors possibly involved in regulation of lignan, sesquiterpenoid and triterpenoid biosynthesis were discovered. These results provide the fundamental genomic resources for dissecting of biosynthetic pathways of the active components in K. hetroclita.

Analysis on the age of menarche and associated factors of Han, Zhuang and Yao nationality female students in Guangxi

Objective To explore age of menarche and associated factors of Han nationality, Zhuang nationality and Yao nation ality girl in Guangxi, and to provide reference for the development of adolescent health education in schools. Methods The 7-, 10- and 13-year-old girls of Han, Zhuang, Yao nationality were chosed from three counties of Guangxi, and height, weight and other physical indicators were measured for three consecutive years, and age of menarche was inquired. 448 cases of with compete data in the three consecutive years of monitoring. The influencing factors were investigated through questionnaire. Results Age of menarche of the whole sample was 11.83 (95% CI = 11.69—11.96) years old, and that of the Han, Zhuang, Yao nationality was 11.87 (95% CI =11.64-12.09), 11.44(95% CI = 11.25-11.64) and 12.42(95% CI = 12.14-12.70)years old respectively, the difference was statistically significant ( P <0.05). Height, sitting height, weight of menarche group in 12 and 13 years old were significantly higher those of the group without menarche ( P <0.05) . Logistic regression analysis primary sitting height, the chest circumference, intake of seafood, duration of sleep in the night and school exercise time were the primary factors for age at menarche ( P <0.01). Conclusion There are ethnic differences in age of menarche among girls in Guangxi, and it is related to sleep, physical activity and dietary structure. Puberty recated health education for girls might start at the fourth grade of primary school, focusing on the education of health life patten, balanced dietary habits, regularly routine, with the goal of growth and development promotion. 【摘要】 目的 探索广西汉族、壮族、瑶族女生月经初潮年龄的影响因素, 为开展学校青春期健康教育工作提供参考依 据。 方法 运用序列研究法, 在广西 3 县分别抽取汉族、壮族、瑶族 7, 10, 13 岁女生, 连续 3 年进行身髙、体重等体格指标 的测量, 并询问月经来潮情况, 最终选取 3 年连续监测的相同有效样本 448 例。使用生长发育影响因素调査表进行调査。 结果 女生的月经初潮半数年龄为 11.83(95% CI = 11.69~11.96) 岁, 汉族、壮族、瑶族依次为11.87(95% CI = 11.64~12.09)、11.44 (95% CI =11.25~11.64) 和 12.42 岁 (95% CI = 12.14~12.70), 差异有统计学意义 ( P <0.05)。12, 13 岁组月经已 来潮女生的身髙、坐髙、体重等均髙于未来潮组, 差异均有统计学意义 ( P 值均<0.05) 。二分类 Logistic 回归分析显示, 月经 初潮年龄的影响因素主要为坐髙、胸围、海产品的摄人、夜间睡眠时长和在校运动时间 ( P 值均<0.01)。 结论 广西女生月 经初潮半数年龄有民族差异, 与运动情况和膳食结构有关。应在小学四年级开始进行女生青春期健康教育, 可侧重于健康 生活模式的教育, 培养学生均衡的膳食习惯和作息的规律, 促进学生的健康生长。

Classification Method of Ethnic Minority Patterns Based on Faster R-CNN

The pattern on the costumes and brocades of ethnic minorities are of profound significance, but they are various and often composed of many kinds of patterns. It is not accurate and time-consuming to classify them only by artificial methods. Taking Yao’s pattern symbols as an example, this paper collects and arranges the pattern pictures on clothing and brocade, preprocesses the pictures and labels the patterns on the processed pictures according to the preliminary classification. After the data set is made, the data set is trained and tested by Faster R-CNN algorithm. The results show that this method can effectively identify and classify the patterns of Yao nationality while reducing the time-consuming, and the average accuracy can reach 88.71%. It provides a useful exploration to help more ethnic minorities realize the intelligent classification of patterns.
