Estudo de caso: ação do ácido hialurônico e ativos naturais na cicatrização de feridas – Pharmacure®

Estudos demonstram efeitos promissores dos fitoterápicos para o tratamento de feridas de diversas etiologias. OBJETIVOS: Avaliar a eficácia e benefí­cios do uso de Pharmacure®, contendo ativos naturais e fitoterápicos no tratamento da Erisipela. MÉTODOS: Realizou-se um estudo de caso de uma mulher de 57 anos que apresentava uma lesão extensa decorrente de Erisipela. Realizou-se observações, medições e registros fotográficos semanalmente. Os curativos eram realizados diariamente com limpeza e aplicação da loção Pharmacure®. RESULTADOS: Após 35 dias observou-se reparação cutânea da lesão, evolução cicatricial mais rápida e positiva, aproximações das bordas e melhor alinhamento das mesmas. A lesão cicatrizou completamente em 122 dias. DISCUSSíO: Os fitoterápicos constituintes da loção associados ao ácido hialurônico são evidenciados na literatura dado seu potencial antimicrobianos, anti-inflamatórios e cicatrizante. Destaca-se as intervenções do enfermeiro para o sucesso do tratamento de feridas. CONCLUSíO: O Pharmacure® apresentou-se como cobertura promissora na reparação tecidual de pacientes com Erisipela.

Evaluating the effectiveness of combined use of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma and frequently-modulated electric field signal in skin wound healing

Background Scientists around the world are interested in applying physical phenomena to various fields of science. The development of entire areas united by one concept (‘plasma medicine’, etc.) stands as a bright example. Present work focuses on only two concepts of interest, which are plasma jet and electric field, as far as results of their combined use in clinical practice and in surgery remain understudied. Objective Experimental evaluation of the effectiveness of physical methods of treatment in skin wound healing. Material and methods The study was carried out on 45 small laboratory animals (rats). They were divided into 5 groups of 9 individuals in each according to method chosen for experimental wound healing. To generate the plasma jet, a portable generator was used, which is the original development of specialists of the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. Planimetric and histological measurements were analysed. The antibacterial effectiveness of methods under research was investigated using Staphylococcus aureus 209P, cultivated in vitro on 6- and 12-millimeter discs. Discussion The combined use of non-thermal atmospheric pressure plasma and frequency-modulated electric field signal exhibited the ability to accelerate eschar separation by 52.1% (p < 0.05) and stimulate restorative regeneration by 56% (p < 0.05). Combination of physical methods of treatment demonstrated pronounced antibacterial effect. A histological examination on biopsy sample on the 21st day of observation revealed formed (mature) granulations and large number of newly formed vessels. The cellular composition of epidermal basement membrane showed high level of differentiation. Conclusion The data obtained suggest that the use of the proposed methods in clinical practice will improve the treatment process of the patients with wounds of different etiology.

Development and psychometric evaluation of the U.S. English Wound-QoL questionnaire to assess health-related quality of life in people with chronic wounds.

People with chronic wounds perceive an impaired health-related quality of life (HRQoL). For the assessment of HRQoL, valid instruments are needed. Therefore, the Wound-QoL questionnaire was originally developed and psychometrically validated for use in Germany. As the Wound-QoL is to be used in numerous countries, international versions are required. Therefore, this study aimed to psychometrically validate the U.S. English Wound-QoL version. Upon translation into U.S. English, psychometric testing was performed based on cross-sectional data deriving from the U.S. Wound Registry. Besides descriptive statistics, internal consistency and concurrent validity were tested. In addition, a graded response model was used. The sample consisted of 599 people with chronic wounds of different etiologies. Participants were between 18 and 95 years old, mean age was 63.7 (SD = 15.9) years. Gender was distributed almost equally, with 47.4% female patients. High internal consistency, low floor and ceiling effects of the subscales could be largely confirmed. The internal consistency of the global score was excellent, with α > .9. Concurrent validity between the Wound-QoL and pain, the surface area of the largest wound, total surface area, and total number of active wounds could be confirmed. In contrast, item response theory (IRT) analyses could not fully confirm the factorial model underlying the Wound-QoL subscales. Furthermore, the items regarding smell and discharge and the items on problems with hitting the wound against something, climbing stairs and feeling dependent on help from others showed a low item information in their belonging dimensions. In conclusion, the newly validated Wound-QoL is available for HRQoL measurement in people with chronic wounds in the United States. It showed good psychometric properties, demonstrating its reliability and validity. Therefore, the instrument may be used to assess HRQoL in clinical practice. However, IRT analyses showed that the instrument may benefit from future refinement.

Autologous Matrix of Platelet-Rich Fibrin in Wound Care Settings: A Systematic Review of Randomized Clinical Trials.

Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) consists of a matrix that provides the necessary elements for wound healing, acting as a biodegradable scaffold for cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation, in addition to the delivery of growth factors and angiogenesis. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the autologous PRF in the treatment of wounds of different etiologies. We carried out a systematic review of randomized clinical trials, guided by the recommendations of the Cochrane Collaboration using the following databases: Pubmed/MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science, and CENTRAL. The search strategy resulted in the inclusion of ten studies that evaluated the use of PRF dressings for the healing of acute or chronic wounds of multiple etiologies. Among the 172 participants treated with PRF in wounds of varying etiologies and different segment times, 130 presented favorable events with the use of the intervention. Among the 10 studies included, only two of them did not demonstrate better results than the control group. The studies showed clinical heterogeneity, making it impossible to perform a meta-analysis. The findings do not provide enough evidence to support the routine use of PRF dressings as the first line of treatment for the healing of acute or chronic wounds of different etiologies. There was great variability in the application of the various protocols and the ways to prepare the PRF, resulting in clinical heterogeneity. Therefore, it makes it impossible to synthesize and to collect evidence from different types of studies in the meta-analysis, which affects the results and their proper discussion.

Nutritional status and quality of nutrition in chronic wound patients.

Malnutrition is a negative confounding factor influencing wound healing. The prevalence of malnutrition increases with age, as do chronic wounds. The aim of this prospective study was to analyse the nutritional status of patients with chronic wounds. Data collection of sociodemographic and nutritional parameters was based on an inter‐professionally developed questionnaire as well as the Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA). A total of 90 patients with chronic wounds of different aetiologies were included. Pain and dental health were found to be significant factors: Patients with malnutrition or the risk of malnutrition had significantly lower tooth and oral health scores (rs = −0.218, P = .039), and higher pain levels at rest (rs = 0.339, P < .001), while dressing (rs = 0.268, P = .014), and upon exercising (rs = 0.303, P = .005). Our data address the impact of nutrition on chronic wounds and confirm the relationship between pain, dental health, and nutritional status. Clinicians should be aware of adequate pain management and dental health care in chronic wound patients. Further studies, particularly on characterisation of preventive and therapeutic measures in the nutrition of chronic wound patients, are of great importance.

Locally Delivered Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stromal Cells Reduce Chronic Inflammation in Long-Term Nonhealing Wounds: A Randomized Study.

Inflammation is part of a complex biological response to injury that mediates a rapid mobilization of cells and triggers the restoration of tissue homeostasis. The systemic diseases of the connective tissues, repetitive strain injuries, neuropathy, and vascular impairment lead to the development of a chronic inflammatory state. In such cases, a forced intervention is required to trigger tissue regeneration. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have been considered a perspective tool for regenerative medicine because of their ability to change the expression and secretory profile under the influence of signals from the microenvironment to perform a regulatory function at the site of tissue damage. In this study, MSCs were isolated from the human umbilical cord (UCMSCs). The ability of UCMSCs to regulate chronic inflammation was investigated in a randomized placebo-controlled pilot study to assess the efficacy and safety of UCMSC therapy in patients with nonhealing wounds. A total of 108 patients with chronic wounds of different etiologies were randomly divided into two groups according to the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The group (n = 59) that was treated with a single local subcutaneous infusion of UCMSCs around the wound periphery showed a pronounced growth of granulation tissue, improved blood microcirculation, and reduction in wound size compared to the placebo group (n = 49). No prominent adverse events were detected in patients from the UCMSC group during the 1-year follow-up period. This research has demonstrated that locally delivered allogeneic UCMSCs can contribute to chronic wound repair and provide an additional support toward new therapeutic strategies. Registration certificate №FS2006/341 was issued by the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare.

Treatment of widespread infected wounds of different etiology

Background. The infections problem of the surgical departments is increasing due to resistance of pathogens to antibiotics, so it becomes an important issue to develop new regimens for the treatment of common infected wounds.&#x0D; The aim of the study was expanding the possibility of treating infected wounds with the use of infusion therapy with reosorbylact, decasan antiseptic, and braxone and leflocin antibiotics.&#x0D; Materials and Methods. 55 patients with infected wounds of different etiology were included in the study. The mean patients age was 43.4 ± 4.7 years. Decasan antiseptic used in the treatment of infected wounds in patients of the main group, the antibiotics braxon (tobramycin) and leflocin 750 (levofloxacinum) is intended simultaneously for empirical antibiotic therapy, reosorbylact solution is included in the infusion therapy.&#x0D; Results. Intoxication syndrome was observed in patients with widespread infected wounds. The initial level of urea blood exceeded 1.6–1.7 times after the patient admission. Creatinine level decreased by 23 % from baseline for 5–7 days of treatment, in patients of the main group during infusion detoxication therapy with Reosorbylact, it remained raised to 9–11 days in patients of the comparison group. Leukocytosis, TGN, and LII decreased in case of empirical antibacterial therapy with braxone (tobramycin) and leflосin 750. The number of microbial associations decreased to 1.6 ± 0.3 using decasan for wound treatment up to 9 days. Bacterial contamination of wounds decreased to a level suitable for effective auto graft (&lt;104 per 1 g of tissue).&#x0D; Conclusions. The complex program of treatment for patients with infected wounds contributed to the reduction of intoxication syndrome, faster reduction of the number of microorganisms in the wound, preparation of wounds for skin graft, shortening the treatment time by 4.3 days.

Mechanism of Oleogel-S10: A triterpene preparation for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa.

Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a group of rare heterogeneous, genetic disorders. Currently, there is no effective pharmacological or genetic therapy for all EB subtypes. Dry extract from birch bark and betulin upregulate some pro‐inflammatory mediators and downregulate others. The increase in pro‐inflammatory cytokines is temporary and attenuated over long‐term treatment. This inflammatory stimulus is thought to be prerequisite for a secondary anti‐inflammatory response. Dry extract from birch bark and its active marker substances have also been shown to increase the migration of primary human keratinocytes, accelerate wound closure, and promote differentiation of keratinocytes in vitro and in vivo—processes that are essential for reepithelialization and maintenance of the skin barrier. Comprehensive clinical data are available to support the use of Oleogel‐S10 in the treatment of partial thickness wounds of different etiologies, and a proof‐of‐concept Phase 2 study in patients with dystrophic EB has suggested the potential for faster reepithelialization of wounds treated with Oleogel‐S10.

Potential therapeutic effects of autologous platelet rich plasma on impaired wound healing: a prospective clinical study

&lt;p class="abstract"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Background:&lt;/strong&gt; The evolving state of technology in field of medicine has led to a plethora of new options in the realm of wound healing. The primary objective of present study was to assess the potential therapeutic effects of autologous platelet rich plasma in the healing of wound.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="abstract"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Methods:&lt;/strong&gt; A prospective clinical nonrandomized cohort study was performed in 50 patients (40 males, 10 females) with recalcitrant, chronic; non-healing wounds of different etiologies. Age ranged from 25 to 70 years (mean 39.14±13.38). Eligible patients were treated with autologous platelet rich plasma (PRP) at 4-days intervals for a maximum of 14 sessions. Patients were evaluated (reduction in size of the wound (area)) every week and continued until final healing has achieved. The primary outcome was positive response to therapy, defined as complete healing of the wound and absence of any raw area. Significance was set at p&amp;lt;0.05.&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="abstract"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Results:&lt;/strong&gt; The mean time duration to wound healing was 6.33 weeks (S.D±2.16). A statistically significant difference (p&amp;lt;0.05) was observed between the baseline parameters and mean area after PRP injection. After 7 sessions (28 days of therapy) the wounds showed the significant change in wound surface area (p&amp;lt;0.05). None of the patients developed deep or superficial wound infections.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="abstract"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Conclusions:&lt;/strong&gt; There is considerable improvement in wound characteristics like healthy granulation tissue, healing edge, pain, slough, bleeding on touch and discharge after 7 days of PRP therapy and considerable improvement on follow up.&lt;/p&gt;

Efficacy of Negative Pressure Therapy (NPWT) in the Management of Wounds of Different Etiologies

The objective was to assess the role of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) in the management of wounds of various etiologies, infected or not, acute or chronic. The study was conducted in a group of 37 patients (24 men and 13 women) aged 26 to 86 years with acute or chronic wounds, posttraumatic or due to chronic diseases located on the lower limbs or following oncological abdominal surgery. In all cases a Vacuum Assisted Closure (VAC) system was continuously applied using a subatmospheric pressure ranging from 90 to 120 mmHg. Beside sex, age and etiology of soft tissue defect the following parameters were studied: surgical treatment performed prior to NPWT application, frequency of dressing changes, duration of NPWT, level of subatmospheric pressure used in each case, number of hospital days, complications arising from NPWT use. The outcome was favorable in all cases without such complications as infection or bleeding, a perilesional erythema (contact dermatitis caused by the used adhesive tape) being noted in only 13.51% of cases. The average duration of NPWT was 8.1 days. The frequency of dressing changes was in most cases of 3 days (89.18%) with a group mean of 3.05 days, and the average applied negative pressure was -110.83 mmHg, range -90mmHg to -120 mm Hg. No complications requiring the interruption of NPWT use were recorded. NPWT, by stimulating wound constriction and granulation tissue formation is an option in the management of acute or chronic wounds of various etiologies, whether infected or not, resulting in a decrease in the number of surgeries and their complexity, length of hospital stay and, last but not least, reduced patient suffering.

MANEJO DE LAS HERIDAS QUIRÚRGICAS, DESDE EL TIPO, TÉCNICA E INSUMOS UTILIZADOS EN UNA IPS”. ARMENIA, QUINDÍO, 2014

Este artículo surge de la investigación “Manejo de las heridas quirúrgicas, desde el tipo, técnica e insumos utilizados en una ips. Armenia, Quindío, 2014, financiado por la Vicerrectoría de Investigaciones de la Universidad del Quindío. La investigación describe los métodos que son manejados para el cuidado de las heridas por parte del personal de enfermería que realiza dicho procedimiento, con el fin de conocer con detalle la técnica, o técnicas, y los procesos utilizados en el procedimiento, materiales, pasos, asepsia, entre otros; contrasta lo observado con los avances científicos-tecnológicos en este campo y determina el cuidado de enfermería brindado a los pacientes adultos hospitalizados con heridas de diferente etiología. La investigación fue de tipo Descriptiva-Transversal, con enfoque cuantitativo. La muestra se obtuvo a través de un muestreo intencional, para este caso, pacientes con herida quirúrgica hospitalizados en los servicios quirúrgicos, que ingresaron durante un trimestre por cirugía programada, complicaciones quirúrgicas o por cirugía de urgencia, en una IPS de tercer nivel de atención de Armenia, y quien es eligieron voluntariamente su participación. La técnica para la recolección de la información fue a través de la filmación del procedimiento. Posteriormente, se diligenciaron los instrumentos diseñados para los fines de la investigación; los datos fueron ingresados a Bases de Datos construidas y procesadas en SPSS.

Clinical evaluation of a bioactive beta-glucan gel in the treatment of 'hard-to-heal' wounds.

The aim of this evaluation is to assess the effects of a wound healing gel in a wounds of different aetiologies. Data was recorded on the wound surface area, tissue type, and patient level of wound pain at baseline (0) and at weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8. Of the total 39 patients enrolled in the study, 26 patients who complied with the protocol criteria completed the minimum four-week study period. During the 12-week evaluation period, seven of the 26 wounds fully healed and an additional eight wounds showed a reduction in size of more than 50 %. Of the remaining 11, five wounds showed moderate healing progression and six wounds did not respond to treatment. Following the 12 week evaluation time point clinicians reported that a further three wounds healed-a 38 % healing rate. The results give promise that this advanced gel, containing a macrophage activating substance, can be a tool in re-activating healing in stalled wounds where standard of care is no longer giving the desired healing progression.

Evaluating a native collagen matrix dressing in the treatment of chronic wounds of different aetiologies: a case series.

To collate clinical evidence on the use of a native collagen matrix dressing, consisting of a fibrillary collagen network, in patients with a variety of chronic wounds. Patients whose wounds had not improved in the eight weeks before the beginning of the evalutaion were recruited. All participants had their dressings changed twice weekly and received standard adjunctive wound care as part of their treatment. Data, collected over a 4-week period, included: patient demographics, wound surface area measurements, Bates-Jensen score, level of wound pain, wound infection status, wound bed preparation staging score, depth of wound according to tissue type, and photographic imaging of patients' wounds. We recruited 19 patients with 20 wounds and a mean wound duration of 66.6 months (range: 4-480 months). There was a mean decrease in wound surface area of 29% (median reduction: 47%). A reduction in the Bates-Jensen score was demonstrated in 85% of cases. Wound pain reduced by 66.66% and the wound bed preparation score reduced in 16 wounds with four remaining static. No adverse events arose. This case series provides clinical evidence on the use of a native collagen matrix dressing in the management of hard-to-heal wounds that have previously received local standard therapy. The decrease in wound surface area together with other data indicating improved wound status suggests that a native collagen matrix dressing supports healing and improves quality of life through reduction in wound pain.

Experimental use of wound dressings with the properties of photonic crystals for restoring deep skin defects

The treatment of deep skin lesions is a pressing issue in modern medicine. Using chinchilla rabbits, we examined the effect of multilayer dressings with ordered periodic structure on the regeneration of skin covered with deep skin lesions. On the back of all animals, fascias (size up to 40 × 40 mm) were dissected. In rabbits (from experimental group I), the wound dressing was composed of a plate of fish (carp) scales (multilayer biogenic structure). In rabbits (from experimental group II), the wound dressing was composed of 50 lavsan films metallized by a nanodimensional layer of aluminum. In the control group, wound dressings were composed of a thin plate of Teflon or aluminum (one layer). In all rabbits of the control group, purulonecrotic processes were developed within 1–2 weeks. In all rabbits of the experimental groups, the repair of the wound proceeded without any clinical signs of inflammation during the whole period of observation. In the experimental animals, within 6 weeks, the deep skin lesions had fully healed, and the area of the skin defects had a thickness and structure characteristic of normal skin. The multilayer principle may be promising for the development of dressings for the treatment of deep but small skin wounds of different etiology in cases when high quality dermal regeneration is needed.

A Review of Cellular and Acellular Matrix Products: Indications, Techniques, and Outcomes.

Wound healing is a dynamic process whereby cells, growth factors (GFs), and the extracellular matrix (ECM) interact to restore the architecture of damaged tissue. Chronic wounds can be difficult to treat due to the increased presence of inflammatory cells that degrade the ECM, GF, and cells necessary for wound healing to occur. Cellular and acellular matrix products can be used in the management of a variety of chronic wounds including venous, diabetic, and pressure ulcers and other conditions such as burns, epidermolysis bullosa, pyoderma gangrenosum, and surgical wounds. These matrices provide cells, GF, and other key elements that act as a scaffold and promote reepithelialization and revascularization of the wound bed. This article focuses on cellular and acellular matrix products that have been well-studied clinically with positive results in randomized clinical trials and widely available matrices for chronic nonhealing wounds. We present trial results as well as their indications, techniques, and outcomes. There are a variety of matrix products available on the market. Some of these products are used to treat chronic wounds, for example, diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, pyoderma gangrenosum, and pressure ulcers. In this review, we found that wounds of different etiologies have been treated with a variety of matrices, with successful outcomes compared with standard wound care. Both cellular and acellular matrix products are useful in the management of a variety of chronic wounds. These matrices provide cells, GF, and other key elements that promote reepithelialization and revascularization of the wound bed while preventing degradation of the ECM. The treatment of chronic wounds with matrix products in combination with standard wound care has been proven to aid in wound healing when added to standard of care.

Wound management for the 21st century: combining effectiveness and efficiency.

Treatment of wounds of different aetiologies constitutes a major part of the total health care budget. It is estimated that 1·5-2 million people in Europe suffer from acute or chronic wounds. These wounds are managed both in hospitals and in community care. The patients suffering from these wounds report physical, mental and social consequences of their wounds and the care of them. It is often believed that the use of wound dressings per se is the major cost driver in wound management, whereas in fact, nursing time and hospital costs are together responsible for around 80-85% of the total cost. Healing time, frequency of dressing change and complications are three important cost drivers. However, with the use of modern, advanced technology for more rapid wound healing, all these cost drivers can be substantially reduced. A basic understanding of the terminology and principles of Health Economics in relation to wound management might therefore be of interest.

Comparing the Efficacy of Viable Cryopreserved Placental Membrane for the Treatment of Wounds of Diverse Etiologies

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: The benefits of using amniotic tissue in skin regeneration are well documented. Today, cryopreservation technology allows for better availability and maintenance of mesenchymal stem cells. This is of particular interest in treating the diabetic foot ulcer as this population has fewer mesenchymal stem cells. The objective of this case series investigation was to compare the efficacy of cryopreserved human amniotic stem cells in treating foot wounds of different etiologies. We will present data and case photos for a diabetic foot ulcer, venous leg ulcer, arterial ankle ulcer, and a pyoderma gangrenosum ulcer METHODS: Cryopreserved human amniotic stem cell grafts were applied to patients with chronic ulcers of different etiologies that had been subjected to at least 4 weeks of standard wound care and did not show adequate clinical progress. Wound area was recorded and photographed on weekly basis. Area reduction was charted over time and the results of each individual case were compared to one another. RESULTS: All ulcers displayed results that well exceeded the established parameters of weekly healing rates for effective wound treatment modalities. • Pyoderma gangrenosum displayed the poorest response to treatment. However, it is worth noting that the patient was not compliant in the prescribed adjunctive treatment regimen but managed to achieve 64% wound reduction. • All ulcers showed the largest appreciable amount of healing in both total area reduction and week-to- week closure percentage after the first application. CONCLUSIONS: Cryopreserved human amniotic stem cell grafts can aid in the decreasing the time to closure of various types of lower extremity ulcerations. The therapy is a clinically viable option for physicians to consider when formulating a treatment plan for a patient with an ulcer.

This article deals with recent trends in the development of medical products for covering wounds of different etiologies (polymeric film, foams, hydrogels and hydrocolloids), which have been proven to have a notable therapeutic effect.

Evaluation of Wound Healing Ability with Human Embryonic Stem Cells in Patients with Non-Healing Wounds: A Case Series

Wound healing occurs by regeneration or repair in which the damaged tissue at the wound site is replaced with fibroblastic mediated scar tissue. However, inadequate cell repair due to poor vascularity at the wound site results in non-healing wounds. This study evaluated the effect of human embryonic stem cell (hESC) therapy in six patients with non-healing wounds. The wound was cleaned and washed with normal saline and cotton gauze. The ready to use form of hESCs was sprayed on the wound and final dressing was done with antibiotics, vaseline gauze and cotton pads. The wounds of all the patients healed after receiving hESC therapy. Reduction in the size of wounds and granulation was observed among all the patients. hESC therapy showed improved and faster wound healing in non-healing wounds of different etiologies.

Clinical Evaluation of a Novel Topical Negative Pressure Device in Promoting Healing in Chronic Wounds.

Aim: This observational study evaluated the use of a novel, ultraportable, mechanically powered topical negative pressure device in promoting healing in chronic wounds, including venous and mixed etiology leg ulcers and neuropathic foot ulcers. Materials and Methods: Evaluable patients (n=37) received treatment with the SNaP® Wound Care System for up to 6 weeks. The primary objective was percentage change in wound size, with secondary objectives of clinical assessment of wound parameters, ease of use, and impact on quality of life. Results: A 42.64% mean percentage decrease in wound area was observed, with an overall decrease for each wound etiology subgroup. Increased granulation tissue, decreased exudate levels, and decreased wound pain were reported. Quality-of-life scores increased overall, and the device was easy to use, comfortable, portable, and inconspicuous. Conclusion: The SNaP Wound Care System has the potential to promote healing in chronic wounds of different etiologies.
