PrefaceThis volume of IOP Conference Series: Material Science and Engineering contains the papers presented in the “World Multidisciplinary Civil Engineering-Architecture-Urban Planning Symposium” which was held in the city of romance Prague (Czech Republic) during 12-16 June 2017. The World Multidisciplinary Civil Engineering-Architecture-Urban Planning Symposium (WMCAUS) provided a forum for a discussion of the latest theoretical findings, discoveries of new technologies and their implementations into different fields of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Planning, to give opportunities for future cooperation.Symposium WMCAUS 2017 fulfilled its main mission of combining efforts and sharing ideas of scientists, engineers, architects and urban planners, in order to create a sustainable built environment, to protect historical structures and preserve them for future generations, and to improve quality of life in every living place. The topics of this year’s symposium were the following: “Construction Management and Engineering, Construction Materials, Geotechnics, Hydromechanics, Structural Engineering, Building Performance Simulations, Transportation, Architectural Space, Social Sciences and Architecture, Architectural Culture, Theories of Vision and Visuality, Architectural Design and Methods, Architectural Historiography, Architectural Heritage and Conservation of Historical structures, Sustainability in the Built Environment, Urban Planning, Public Space, Urban Design, Theories and Methods in Civil Engineering and Architecture, Regional Planning, Archaeological Method and Theories, Sustainable Urban Development, Urban Sociology, Economics and Politics in Civil Engineering, Risk Management and Mitigation Planning, GIS-Based Modelling for Mitigation Planning, Computer Aided Design, Mathematical and Statistical Methods, Integrated Coastal Zone Planning and Management, Accreditation of Civil Engineering and Architecture, City and Regional Planning Education, Specific topics like Spatial analysis for urban planning, Technology, organization and management in construction projects, and Urban Planning with Multidisciplinary Approach.WMCAUS 2017 was the second event with more than 500 active participants, and in the future it is expected that it will be organized annually. WMCAUS represents a traditional style of a symposium, with friendly and very fruitful atmosphere which a world symposium must have, and this is not a festival-like super-large convention, which is too chaotic and busy, but an event where people have a chance to discuss something in deep with other people from different countries and continents. All the missions of World Multidisciplinary Civil Engineering-Architecture-Urban Planning Symposium – WMCAUS were completed and preparations for the next WMCAUS have already started. In total, 557 peer reviewed articles grouped in seven sessions according to their topic are published. We would like to thank all reviewers for their great effort to achieve the high quality of published articles. We cannot have missed to thank our sponsors, which created an unforgettable atmosphere and the symposium took place with a rich social program. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all the members of Organizing and Scientific Committee, invited speaker prof. Botond Bognar - University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, and mainly all participants of WMCAUS 2017 from more than 50 different countries of the world for their interests and great contributions in WMCAUS 2017.
