A New Approach to Measuring Institutional and Researcher Contributions to the SDGs: Combining Data from Elsevier SciVal and VOSviewer

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established by the United Nations in 2015, are a comprehensive global framework that addresses social, economic, and environmental challenges through sustainable development. This study examines the role of universities, specifically focusing on the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang (UNIMMA), in contributing to the SDGs. The study utilized data from Elsevier’s SciVal to analyze the department’s contribution to the SDGs through scientific publications in the Scopus database. A total of 97 out of 156 articles published by nine researchers from the department were found to contribute to various SDGs, with a significant focus on Goals 7 (affordable and clean energy), 17 (partnerships for the goals), 9 (industry, innovation, and infrastructure), and 12 (responsible consumption and production). The study highlights the department’s collaborative efforts and alignment with global sustainability goals. In addition, VOSviewer was used to map the research collaboration network within the department, revealing strong contributions to energy efficiency, sustainable technologies, and climate action. However, the department's research shows limited contribution to social SDGs such as poverty alleviation and gender equality. By mapping the university’s contributions to the SDGs, this study helps faculty members identify opportunities for targeted research collaborations, address gaps in SDG contributions, and enhance partnerships with researchers from other institutions, thus broadening the university’s impact on global sustainable development goals.

Research hotspots and emerging trends in growth and development of macrofungi: a bibliometric review based on CiteSpace analysis.

Macrofungi (or mushrooms) are essential for agriculture, food, and ecology. Although research on the growth and development of macrofungi (GDM) can provide insights into their biological characteristics and metabolite synthesis mechanisms, further exploration is needed for a systematic and visual analysis of the current research progress on GDM. To comprehensively understand the research status and development trend of GDM, a total of 545 scientific literature related to GDM in the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2008 to 2024 were searched and selected as research objects. The general information (publication year, country, institution, and cited journal) and the specific information (co-authorship, keyword co-occurrence, and references with strong citation bursts) were mined and visualized in detail based on CiteSpace software. These analyses demonstrated that related research is still fashionable, and China is dominant and influential in this field. More frequent and in-depth cooperation among authors, institutions and regions is conducive to promoting the research on GDM. Additionally, the quantity and cluster analyses of keywords and references demonstrated that medicinal/edible macrofungi and sustainable development (e.g. mushroom substrate reuse) may be research hotspots and will remain popular in the coming years. This research aims to supply researchers with up-to-date knowledge and cutting-edge issues related to GDM by providing a visually appealing representations on quantitative GDM studies.

The Formation of Human Qualities for Life in Teachers: A Review of Scientific Literature

The purpose of this article is to analyze the literature of the last five years to provide a perspective on the development of qualities for life in teachers. The research design is a literature review with a qualitative approach in which the systematic literature review technique was used in Scopus, Scielo, Redalyc, Dialnet, Proquest, Erih Plus, DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), Latindex, the library and the Universidad César Vallejo. The systematic literature review was based on the PRISMA methodology, with inclusion criteria for selection: publications based on a scientific methodology, by a single author or by several authors, published from 2019 to 2023 and as keywords: human qualities for life, human skills, competencies and/or skills. The exclusion criteria ruled out publications from before 2019, without reliable or significant results for this research, which are duplicates and/or have an inconsequential abstract. It was possible to identify in the last five years 17 scientific publications on the development of qualities for life in teachers: six have been published by a single author and 11 collectively, three correspond to 2019, four to 2020, six to 2021 and four to 2022. It was concluded that the issue of the development of qualities for life in teachers is a social and educational phenomenon widely spread worldwide that has generated the interest of several researchers in the last five years.

The Invertebrates of The Romualdo Formation, Araripe Basin: Analysis of Paleoecological and Paleogeographical Data

Fossil invertebrates are good paleoenvironmental indicators due to their sensitivity to abiotic conditions, which contributes to the understanding of the Aptian-Albian of the Araripe Basin. However, much of the paleoecological and paleobiogeographical information on these organisms is scarce in the literature. The aim of this paper is to compile relevant data on the macroinvertebrates of the Romualdo Formation and to analyze and point out gaps in knowledge. To achieve this, extensive bibliographical research was carried out, using scientific publications based on the families of Spinicaudata, echinoids, gastropods, bivalves, shrimps and crabs of the Romualdo Formation and their distribution in Brazil and globally throughout the Aptian-Albian, using specialized online databases. Paleoecological and paleogeographical data were compiled for 46 invertebrate taxa, highlighting those with better studied routes of origin. Thus, it was possible to highlight the lack of data regarding the way of life of certain mollusc families and systematic problems regarding the identification of the families of several species of shrimp. Finally, the predominance of taxa from marine (34), brackish (7) and lacustrine (5) waters was shown. Of these, 18 taxa have a typical tethyan distribution and another 12 also present occurrences in the Austral, Boreal or both domains. The only typical freshwater group was Spinicaudata, marking environments with little or no marine influence and with rare occurrences during the Aptian-Albian.

Wearable Devices for Training and Patient Monitoring: A Comprehensive Review

Introduction:Wearable technologies and remote patient monitoring (RPM) are transforming sports and healthcare by enabling continuous and real-time monitoring of various health parameters. These innovations hold significant potential for improving training outcomes in physical rehabilitation and fitness programs, managing chronic diseases, and enhancing patient engagement. Aim of the Study:This review aims to summarize and highlight the most relevant findings on the current status, clinical applications, challenges, and prospects of wearable health-related sensing technologies in the context of training and chronic disease management. Material and Methods:A review of scientific publications from 2018 to 2024 was conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar databases. Keywords such as "wearable," "remote patient monitoring," "sensors," "training," and "chronic disease management" were used. Conclusions:Wearable devices are gaining popularity among the entire population, not only among individuals with chronic health conditions. The use of wearable technologies has shown promise in improving training and health outcomes by providing continuous monitoring, personalized care, and enhanced training programs. However, challenges such as data accuracy, privacy concerns, and integration with healthcare systems must be addressed and present opportunities for future advancements.

Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in Middle Level Teacher Development: A Research Synthesis

We used Standards 3 and 4 of the Association of Middle Level Education (AMLE) 2022 Revised Middle Level Teacher Preparation Standards and The Successful Middle School: This We Believe characteristics as frameworks and presented a synthesis of the research literature (2015–2024) on the curriculum, instruction, and assessment related to middle-level teacher development. This review was part of a larger exploration of middle-level teacher development. Initially, we located 63 articles through our search terms on the curriculum, instruction, and assessment in teacher development. From there, we contributed to an updated research agenda for middle-level education . Through continued analysis and discussion, we identified trends in each area and across these three areas. We review the literature, highlight trends, and offer recommendations for middle-level educators and researchers.

Human–robot interaction: predicting research agenda by long short-term memory

The article addresses the identification and prediction of research topics in human–robot interaction (HRI), fundamental in Industry 4.0 (I4.0) and future Industry 5.0 (I5.0). In the absence of research agendas in the scientific literature, the study proposes a multilayered model to create a precise agenda to guide the scientific community in new developments in collaborative robotics and HRI technologies. The methodology is divided into four stages, which make up the three layers of the model. In the first two stages, scientific articles on HRI for the period 2020–2021 were collected and analyzed using data mining techniques together with VantagePoint and Gephi software to identify keywords and their relationships. These initial stages form layer 1 of the model, where the main scientific themes are recognized. In the third stage, article titles and abstracts are cleaned and processed using natural language processing (NLP) techniques, generating word embeddings models that highlight relevant HRI-related terms, forming layer 2. The fourth and final stage uses Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) with long short-term memory (LSTM) architecture to predict future topics, consolidating the previously identified terms and forming layer 3 of the model. The results show that in layer 1 HRI has intensive application in various sectors through advanced computational algorithms, with trust as a key feature. In layer 2, terms such as vision, sensors, communication, collaboration and anthropomorphic aspects are fundamental, while layer 3 anticipates future topics such as design, performance, method and controllers, essential to improve robot interaction. The study concludes that the methodology is effective in defining a robust and relevant research agenda. By identifying future trends and needs, this work fills a gap in the scientific literature, providing a valuable tool for the research community in the field of HRI.

Research on the Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance Approach: A Bibliometric Review.

The Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) is an evidence-based intervention approach that has significantly increased in popularity over the past two decades. However, how the research literature on this topic is patterned is still unknown, so it is difficult to identify potential areas for research and clinical interest. To analyze the literature published on the CO-OP approach to provide a detailed and structured analysis of the publication patterns. All literature related to CO-OP included in the Web of Science database through June 15, 2024. All published studies related to CO-OP were included in the bibliometric analysis, which was conducted on the raw data retrieved from the Web of Science database using the Bibliometrix R package. The annual growth rate in CO-OP research has been 0.8%, significantly increasing from 2015 onward. Most of the research has been published in occupational therapy and rehabilitation journals by English-speaking research teams, and its scope has expanded from developmental coordination disorder to a wide range of health conditions. In addition, two main lines of research have emerged: one focusing on understanding the underlying cognitive processes involved in CO-OP and the other focusing on its clinical effectiveness. Research on CO-OP has significantly increased over the past decade, and it currently encompasses a wide range of areas. This analysis may facilitate the advancement of research on and the clinical practical application of CO-OP. Plain-Language Summary: The Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) is an evidence-based intervention approach that has significantly increased in popularity over the past two decades. Occupational therapists use it to improve the occupational performance of both children and adults with movement difficulties. However, it is unknown how the research literature on this topic is patterned, so it is difficult to identify potential areas for research and clinical interest. This study found that scientific literature on CO-OP has significantly increased in the past decade and that its scope has expanded from developmental coordination disorder to a wider range of health conditions, such as cerebral palsy. Moreover, research is now focused on two main questions: What are the underlying cognitive processes involved during intervention, and how effective is the CO-OP approach? These findings can be used to further improve occupational performance and participation among occupational therapy clients who struggle with motor performance and planning.

CONCEPT OF CRISIS IN SCIENTIFIC DISCOURSE

The article examines the main approaches to the concept and content of crisis in scientific literature. The main trends in the development of the crisis and its contradictions are analyzed. It is emphasized that most crises and their understanding are the result of a combination of human errors, institutional «failures» and constant changes in the sphere of functioning of society and states. The main stages of the development of theoretical approaches regarding the concept and content of the crisis and its main derivatives are considered. It has been proven that he does not have a clear understanding of the concept and essence of the crisis; there are three main approaches to understanding the concept and content of crisis; there are several stages of development and formation of the concept and content of the crisis; for the most part, researchers give this phenomenon a positive or negative character. This is explained by the complex nature of these phenomena and insufficient attention for a long time. It is indicated that analyzing the existing definitions of the concept of «crisis», we can talk about three main approaches: a crisis is a stage of the life cycle of any system, that is, a form of its development; crisis is a turning point in the functioning of the system, which provokes any changes, regardless of the result; a crisis is a deterioration of one or more parameters of the system's functioning, which can even lead to its final disappearance. It is emphasized that the crisis is not a separate phenomenon, but a process unfolding as various factors and forces interact in an unpredictable manner; disruption of the usual daily rhythm of life; the emergence and increase of anxiety and stress in the population; potential and real threats to basic values and structural social systems. It has been proven that all views on the concept and meaning of «crisis» and related concepts are determined by the established framework of their interpretation, as well as by the theoretical and spatiotemporal relationship in which they are interpreted. The conducted research shows that in modern scientific literature there are many approaches to understanding the concepts of crisis and risk, sometimes they are even opposite to each other. In this regard, it is appropriate to generalize the existing approaches to these concepts. This will provide an opportunity to more comprehensively reveal the essence of the concepts and will help during the formation of crisis and risk management policy. The modern world is quite complex and dynamic, which leads to the appearance of an increasing number of various crises and risks. Only a thorough understanding and perception of the crisis will allow, if not to avoid them, then to get out of them with the least losses.

The correlation between medical students’ clinical dishonesty, psychological distress, and moral intelligence

IntroductionClinical dishonesty is one of the components of academic dishonesty that deals with the unprofessional behavior of students in hospital and clinic environments (medical students, nursing students, etc.). Psychological distress and low moral intelligence among students can be known as predisposing factors in performing dishonest clinical behaviors. The present research addresses a gap in the scientific literature by investigating dishonest behavior among medical students.MethodsThis cross-sectional study examined medical students’ clinical dishonesty, psychological distress, and moral intelligence. Rafati et al.‘s questionnaire was used to investigate clinical dishonesty, Kessler’s Psychological Distress Questionnaire (K6) was used for psychological distress, and Lenik and Keil’s (2005) questionnaire was used to determine moral intelligence. Cochran’s formula was used to calculate the sample size and the simple random sample (SRS) method was used for sampling. Data were statistically analyzed in SPSS version 27 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, United States). a P-value less than 0.05 was considered significant.Results317 medical students were included in this study, of which 176 (55.5%) were male and 141 (44.5%) were female. We found a direct and significant statistical correlation between clinical dishonesty and students’ distress (Correlation Coefficient: 0.162, P-value < 0.001). In addition, there was a statistically significant inverse correlation between clinical dishonesty and moral intelligence (Correlation Coefficient: -0.241, P-value: 0.004). Moreover, there was a higher rate of clinical dishonesty among senior medical students (P-value < 0.001). Moreover, the most dishonest clinical behaviors are as follows: [1] Disclosure of patient information in public or with non-medical personnel (76%), Incorrect examination of vital signs and physical examinations (69.4%), Not reporting incidents or errors of others involving patients (41.6%).ConclusionFinally, most students have experienced engaging in at least one clinically dishonest behavior. Such actions increase with the progress of the educational level so that it reaches its peak at the internship stage. Moral intelligence is a learnable concept, and mental distress also has its own treatments. Therefore, improving these two factors can reduce clinical dishonesty among medical students.

Development of Hashimoto's disease in patients with vitiligo

The aim of this paper is to review the available scientific literature on the relationship between vitiligo and the development of Hashimoto's disease, with particular emphasis on possible pathogenetic mechanisms and clinical implications of this correlation. The relationship between vitiligo and thyroid diseases, especially Hashimoto's disease, has intrigued researchers for years. Numerous clinical observations suggested that patients with vitiligo more often struggle with thyroid problems, but only extensive epidemiological studies allowed for a precise estimate of the scale of this phenomenon.

Analisis Bibliometrik: Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Macromedia Flash 8 di Sekolah Dasar (2019-2023)

Bibliometric research is very important to provide readers with an understanding of research trends, compare authors or journals, and measure research contributions in scientific literature with the keyword "Macromedia Flash 8" on Scopus from 2019-2023. The methods used in this study are searching documents by keyword, using publish or perish, saving documents in the form of RIS files, and Using VOSviewer to display visualizations of bibliometric analysis. The results obtained from the VOSviewer analysis are that for analyzing scopus results there are 10 journals with details in 2019 and 2022, there are no scopus-indexed journals that match keywords, in 2020 there is an increase in research of scopus-indexed journals that match keywords, but in 2023 there is a decrease. Network Visualization has 347 items, 10 clusters, 10211 links, and 10724 total link strengths. The visualization Overlay shows that bright yellow has been researched while items that are opaque yellow such as class, mathematics, test, and others still lack research. The results of this study can provide space for other researchers to conduct further research.

Global research landscape on the genetics of congenital heart disease: A bibliometric and visualized analysis via VOSviewer and CiteSpace.

Genetic factors play a significant role in the development of congenital heart disease (CHD). Many studies on the genetics of CHD have been published worldwide; however, no research has assessed and mapped the global research landscape of these studies. This bibliometric and visualized study aimed to delineate research hotspots and trends in the field of CHD genetics. Scientific papers on the genetics of CHD from January 1, 1950, to December 31, 2023, were obtained by searching the Web of Science Core Collection. The bibliometric metadata of each chosen research paper were extracted, analyzed, and visualized using tools such as Microsoft Excel 2021, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. The final analysis included 5317 papers discussing the genetics of CHD. The countries and journals that published the highest number of papers were the United States (n = 2118), and American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A (n = 332), respectively. In addition to CHD and genetics, keywords such as tetralogy of Fallot, ventricular septal defect, and atrial septal defect appeared most frequently among 8365 keywords. Eight clusters were formed to categorize the keywords. Keywords such as case-control study, whole genome sequencing, and whole exome sequencing in clusters 6, 7, and 8, respectively, had the latest average publication year among all clusters. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first bibliometric analysis of CHD genetics studies. Tetralogy of Fallot, ventricular septal defect, and atrial septal defect are global research topics. The interactions between environmental and genetic factors in the pathogenesis of CHD, genetic etiology of CHD-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension, and molecular genetics of CHD via high-throughput genomic technology are possible areas of future research on the genetics of CHD.

Innovation and integration: Analysis of research hotspots and frontiers in "Chinese + vocational skills" education—based on bibliometric analysis visualized by citespace

The "Chinese + Vocational Skills" education is a new form of education merging international Chinese education with vocational training. This paradigm has emerged as a focal point in research on international Chinese language education. This article is aimed to effectively dissect the developmental patterns and prevailing research topics on "Chinese + Vocational Skills", by employing CiteSpace, a tool for visualizing scientific data, to analyze pertinent literature spanning the last decade (2013–2023). The analysis offers insights into the overall landscape and evolutionary trajectory of research in this field. The findings therefrom indicate the followings: (1) Research on "Chinese + Vocational Skills" exhibits certain interdisciplinary characteristics, with an overall trend of rapid growth in research literature, but a relatively small volume of high-quality core literature. (2) "International Chinese Language Education", "Vocational Education", "Chinese + Vocational Skills", and the "Belt and Road" are current research hotspots in this field. "Chinese +",Chinese for Specific Purpose, demand analysis, and vocational skills serve as important turning points for research on "Chinese + Vocational Skills". (3) Research topics related to "Chinese + Vocational Skills" mainly concentrate on four aspects: international Chinese language education, vocational education, talent cultivation, as well as regions and countries, yet disparities of research endeavors exist across these fields. (4) The research frontier of the field mainly focuses on international Chinese language education, "Chinese + Vocational Skills", international vocational education on Chinese language in vocational colleges, and internationalization of Chinese language. Addressing contemporary demands, research in "Chinese + Vocational Skills" needs to align with global economic trends, cater to the actual needs for talent with such skills, and further enhance understanding from various perspectives including educational models, national demands, and internationalization efforts, thus fortifying the capacity of "Chinese + Vocational Skills" education to serve the development of industries.

A Systematic Review of Literature on Student Voice and Agency in Middle Grade Contexts

This systematic review analyzes the research literature on student voice and agency in the middle grades, focusing on middle-level schools, culture, and learning environments. The idea of student voice and agency was taken up as collaborative decision-making and/or student feedback on issues related to school and pedagogy. After a comprehensive search for peer-reviewed research (2015–2024), an article review framework was developed to determine how, where, and why student voices and agency were engaged in the middle grades. Three themes characterized the research literature: (1) passive student voice and agency: researcher-driven studies to gain understanding; (2) active student voice and agency: partnering with students to improve their learning experiences; and (3) activating the inner voice and agency: helping students to reflect on their own learning. The research on student voice and agency provided information that directly and indirectly benefited students. The literature related to passive student voice and agency tended to be indirect, while active student voice and agency and activating students’ inner voice and agency tended to provide tangible and observable student benefits. While the studies were responsive to different aspects of young adolescent development and included foci on students’ social/emotional development and identity, other areas were lacking—including culturally responsive teaching, international perspectives, and sense of self/peer perceptions.

Addresses the Problem of Aging Population by Immigration in the United States

Abstract: The aging problem is becoming increasingly serious in various countries. The United States was also not spared and foreshadowed an equally negative future trend, which would lead to many problems in various aspects. Therefore, the United States has taken some policies to adapt to aging, but has not actually solved the problem. Some people believe that immigration can improve the problems brought about by the aging population. This article explores the mentioned approach through literature research and simulation. The way of immigration can improve population structure to alleviate population aging, which can be classified into two types - the age structure and the employment structure. In terms of age structure, the article will discuss how immigrants can alleviate the social risks caused by aging by the increasing number of immigrants at the working age. For the employment structure, the article will illustrate the answer to solve the slow economic evolution leaded by aging in regards to filling job vacancies for young and middle-aged immigrants.

Beyond humanism: telling response-able stories about significant otherness in human–chatbot relations

AI-enabled chatbots intended to build social relations with humans are becoming increasingly common in the marketplace, with millions of registered users using these chatbots as virtual companions or therapists. These chatbots make use of what is often called the “Eliza effect”—the tendency of human users to attribute human-like knowledge and understanding to a computer program. A common interpretation of this phenomenon is to consider this form of relating in terms of delusion, error, or deception, where the user misunderstands or forgets they are talking to a computer. As an alternative, we draw on the work of feminist Science and Technology Studies scholars as providing a robust and capacious tradition of thinking and engaging with human–nonhuman relationships in non-reductive ways. We closely analyze two different stories about encounters with chatbots, taking up the feminist STS challenge to attend to the agency of significant otherness in the encounter. The first is Joseph Weizenbaum's story about rejecting the ELIZA chatbot technology he designed to mimic a therapist as a monstrosity, based on his experiences watching others engage with it. The second is a story about Julie, who experiences a mental health crisis, and her chatbot Navi, as told through her descriptions of her experiences with Navi in the recent podcast Radiotopia presents: Bot Love. We argue that a reactionary humanist narrative, as presented by Weizenbaum, is incapable of attending to the possibilities of pleasure, play, or even healing that might occur in human–chatbot relatings. Other forms of engaging with, understanding, and making sense of this new technology and its potentialities are needed both in research and mental health practice, particularly as more and more patients will begin to use these technologies alongside engaging in traditional human-led psychotherapy.

Psychological basis of emotional and moral development of the personality. Part 1. Research problem of emotional and moral development of personality

Introduction. The relevance of the research problem lies in the fact that in psychological science some theorists involved in the study of emotions believe that the states of emotional experience are unchanged. Since the principles of immutability and constancy of emotional experience are crucial for understanding consciousness, an important type of which in humans are emotions, since they influence their perceptual and cognitive processes and behavior.Purpose setting. There are unique classes of emotional phenomena, such as mood, feelings, which manifest themselves in the general background of events and persist after their completion. It is precisely such background experiences that are the basis of the emotional assessments studied in this work. Moral and aesthetic experiences associated with art, human cognition through art, ensure his development as a subject of moral relations to other people and to himself, contribute to changes in his moral experience and personal (including emotional) characteristics.Methodology and methods of the study was carried out on the basis of the study of philosophical, sociological, psychological and pedagogical scientific and methodological literature, which made it possible to develop the concept of psychological foundations. Results. Our research is educational in the management of emotions and feelings. The dynamic development of the results of our study of the emotional states of a personality, its experiences according to the author’s methods in the form of keeping an emotional diary since 1997, contributing to the self-development of a personality as a component of personal maturity, is presented.Conclusion. The practical value of the research within the framework of general psychology lies not only in the fact that the main directions for optimizing the process of emotional and moral development of a personality are identified, recommendations are substantiated for improving the specialization of people working with children, improving their professional skills, but also in developing a program for the psychological study of emotional and moral personality development (EMPD), diagnostics of specific and nonspecific emotional phenomena, which ensures timely correction of the EMPD process. The data obtained can be taken into account in schools and universities in the process of forecasting the moral atmosphere among adolescents and students, as well as the moral atmosphere of society in general.

Pedagogical support for the use of artificial intelligence at university

Introduction. In the modern world, artificial intelligence is becoming more widespread and it is widely used in many areas of life, including education. Readiness to use artificial intelligence in professional activities is becoming one of the important conditions for a successful career.Purpose setting. This study is aimed at identifying the possibilities of pedagogical support for students when studying and using artificial intelligence at a university, including, first of all, creating motivation for the meaningful use of this technology.Methodology and methods of the study. During the research process, Russian and foreign scientific and methodological literature was analyzed, observations and surveys were conducted in groups of students.Results. As a result of the study, factors in the development of students’ motivation to study and use artificial intelligence in educational and professional activities were identified and described. The stages, principles and approaches, content and methods of pedagogical support for students in the process of studying and using artificial intelligence are proposed. The results of the work on this topic allowed the authors to propose possible directions for research into the integration of artificial intelligence technologies in the educational field.Conclusion. Artificial intelligence technology, already familiar to students as part of the educational process should acquire the features of not only a teaching tool, but also a means of self-development and more effective professional activity. Expanding the meaning of artificial intelligence from exclusively everyday to educational and professional is the main task of pedagogical support.

Exploring rooftop solar potential through deep learning: a comparative case study of U-Net and Attention U-Net

Photovoltaic systems are increasingly gaining popularity for rooftop installations in urban areas. These devices contribute to the self-sufficiency of electricity supply and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in urban settings. In this study, we implement deep learning techniques and compare the U-Net and Attention U-Net architectures to detect rooftops in the city of Sidi Bel Abbes (North Africa) for the installation of solar panels. Contrary to trends observed in the literature and previous research, our results show that U-Net achieved a higher accuracy of 90.49%, while Attention U-Net achieved an accuracy of 89.96%. Using the U-Net method, we identified a 1.9-square-kilometer area of rooftops suitable for solar panel installation in the southern part of the town of Sidi Bel Abbes. This discovery represents a potential electrical capacity of 89 MVA, capable of largely satisfying the energy needs of the studied region. This work is a novelty, being the first study of its kind undertaken in Algeria.
