Changes in the work function and adsorption energy of ultrathin layers of Dy, Nd and Li deposited on preoxidized Mo(112) and W(111) faces have been investigated using the method of CPD and adsorption isobars. It has been found that the preadsorbed oxygen brings about a lowering of the work function minimum for the co-adsorption system and increasing of the area occupied by the metallic adsorbate, that is relevant to the work function minimum. Discussed are the results obtained for different values of initial oxygen coverage.
