Peranan Aisyiyah Cabang Sebangau di Lahan Gambut Kota Palangka Raya dalam Ketahanan Pangan

Aisyiyah is an Islamic women's movement organization formed by Muhammadiyah, this organization since its inception until now, even more, and more various efforts have been made, including in the fields of religion, education, social and economics, which have benefited the Indonesian people in general and Muslims in particular. One of the 'Aisyiyah movements in the social field is the establishment of Posbakum Aisyiyah in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights, from the Central Leadership of 'Aisyiyah to the regions. The existence of 'Aisyiyah reached the Regional Leader of 'Aisyiyah Central Kalimantan, at the time of the current Covid-19 Pandemic, the role of women has become more increased in domestic roles as well as in fulfilling the economic needs of the family at this time. This study aims to describe the role and form of the role of 'Aisyiyah Kalampangan Branch in Peatlands to Women in increasing family food security. This research was conducted at 'Aisyiyah Kalampangan Branch, Palangka Raya City, Jalan Mahir Mahar Trans Kalimantan Palangka Raya using observation methods (field and participation), interviews (in-depth interviews, taking notes, recording, listening, observing, and capturing using a camera) and literature studies. Data analysis used a simple tabulation to describe the conditions and characteristics of the research site. The processed data is displayed in a table. The targeted finding in this research is the obtaining of a role description by 'Aisyiyah Kalampangan Branch in Peatlands of Palangka Raya City.

Challenges Facing Rural Women in Accessing Economic Empowerment Opportunities in Tanzania

This paper examines the challenges faced by women in accessing economic empowerment opportunities in Kahama Municipal, Shinyanga Region of Tanzania. Specifically, the study identifies the challenges facing rural women in accessing economic empowerment opportunities. The study used purposive sampling and randomly selected one hundred and twenty (120) respondents. Data collection was done through focus group discussions and in-depth interviews. Data was analyzed using content analysis. Findings indicate that financial empowerment services for rural women are severely limited by inadequate infrastructure, lack of knowledge, and financial constraints, hindering their economic progress. The fragmented nature of empowerment organizations also lead to unequal distribution of opportunities for rural women. The absence of specific legislation addressing women's economic empowerment further exacerbates the challenges faced by rural women. This study concludes that the lack of financial empowerment among women in rural areas poses a significant challenge, resulting in poverty, insufficient income, and impeding progress for both women and the nation. The absence of a law addressing empowerment issues has hindered efforts to achieve gender equality in supporting women in rural areas. This study suggests that the government, particularly the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and People with Special Needs, and the National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC), should collaborate with women's forums, Civil Society Organizations, women's organizations and private sectors supporting women to develop the Tanzania Inclusive Women Economic Empowerment Model (TIWEEM). This model aims to promote economic empowerment and gender equality for women in urban and rural areas under a unified government framework. Additionally, the establishment of an Economic Empowerment Law (EEL) specifically for women is recommended to provide clear operational guidance on women's economic empowerment in the country

Peran Organisasi Fatayat NU dalam Penyebaran Islam di Indonesia

This article discusses the Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama organization in Indonesia. The Fatayat organization is one of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) women's organizations that moves as a form of attention to women. Fatayat NU has an important role in spreading Islam in Indonesia by forming women, teaching religious knowledge, religious moderation, and member development. In addition, this article also discusses the contribution of Fatayat NU in forming broad insights, conducting educational, social and religious activities or programs. Fatayat NU has succeeded in spreading peaceful and tolerant Islam in Indonesian society through various da'wah and social activities. Through an approach based on Islamic values, Fatayat NU can combine Islamic teachings with the socio-cultural needs of the Indonesian people. With a non-coercive approach, Fatayat NU is able to create harmonious relationships and strengthen the foundation of Islamic life in Indonesia through various activities.

The Organisation of Women of Asian and African Descent, Prostitution and Pornography: The British Black Women’s Movement and Sex Work, 1970s-1980s

In recent years there have been some noteworthy attempts to remedy scholarly silences on the Black women’s movement. The issue of sex work, however, is only mentioned in passing despite the so-called ‘sex wars’ preoccupying the white feminist scene at this time. Grappling with the methodological issue of silence on multiple interconnected levels, this this article attempts to fill this gap by interrogating how, and indeed whether, activists in the Organisation of Women of Asian and African Descent (OWAAD) approached issues of sex work. It asks why these activists rejected the interpretation of sex work as work taken by their contemporaries in the sex workers’ rights movement. It firstly proposes that Black woman activists made a conscious decision to remain silent on issues of commercial sex, dismissing prostitution, alongside other issues of sexuality, as the ‘luxury’ preserve of white middle-class feminists that were distinct from, rather than integral to, Black women’s ‘survival’. Piecing together activists’ increasing but piecemeal discussions of pornography from the early-mid 1980s, the second section of this article demonstrates how activists analysed pornography and prostitution as part of a historical tradition of the sexual exploitation of Black women. In doing so, it proposes that their approach to commercial sex was fraught with contradiction – they viewed prostitution, an issue with real-life implications, in symbolic terms. Overall, it argues that Black woman activists to turned a blind eye to the tangible implications of prostitution legislation for Black women as they navigated tensions and challenges around post-war British racism, respectability politics and the gendered legacy of colonialism. Together with work on the experiences of lesbian women, it raises questions about which women were welcome in the movement, reminding us of the need to push scholarship on Black women’s history beyond the act of recovery.

"These Conversations Shouldn't be Easy … You're Going to Have to Shift. It Means Reflection … It Means Change": Moving Anti-Oppression Beyond Incremental Changes in the GBV Sector.

Little is known about racialized women's work experiences in EDI/AO policy-led Canadian women's organizations in the gender-based violence (GBV) sector. Twenty-three racialized and white GBV workers participated in a critical qualitative study. Five themes emerged illustrating that racialized women workers are experiencing systemic violence through acts of racism and discrimination. The two themes examined in this paper: a culture of silence and shifting the needle forward reveal that the GBV sector is primarily an affirmative space. Creating greater safety for racialized women workers means moving toward transformative approaches that challenge the system's responsibility in creating and supporting anti-oppressive efforts in the elimination of violence.

The Co-Production, Pilot and Qualitative Evaluation of a Cancer Prevention Programme With High-Risk Women Delivered on Group Walks by Cancer Champions: Shoulder to Shoulder, Walk and Talk.

Women in the criminal justice system and women who have been subject to domestic abuse are at high risk of cancer but underrepresented in health promotion research. We aimed to co-produce, pilotand evaluate a health promoting programme delivered on group walks. A programme co-produced by women, based on motivational interviewing, created the opportunity for supportive conversations about cancer prevention. Programme development in two workshops with women with lived experience using authentic vignettes to prompt help-seeking conversations. A small pilot and a qualitative evaluation was done using framework analysis. The programme appeared acceptable to women and the walk leaders. Women felt included and found it a safe space for sensitive conversations. They appeared empowered and more confident to seek help. Walk leaders expressed confidence in delivering this informal programme, which used prompts rather than delivering didactic training. Cancer prevention for high-risk groups can be delivered in a personalised and novel way by creating informal opportunities for supportive conversations about cancer prevention. Careful co-production of the programme of walks with women, using scenarios and quotes that were authentic vignettes, ensured that these came directly from the women's lived experience and enabled women to talk about change. Our findings indicate that this approach was practical, relevant and acceptable to them with some evidence of women feeling empowered to make informed decisions about their health. We recommend that future cancer prevention programmes for underrepresented groups take an asset-based approach by utilising pre-existing community organisations to increase reach and sustainability. Women with lived experience co-designed and tested the programme. Provisional findings were fed back to the women and the women's organisation that partnered with this research.

Polygamy and early marriage in the Dutch East Indies

<span>The article discusses the role of Poetri Mardika in suppressing early marriage and polygamy during the colonial period in the Dutch East Indies. Poetri mardika was the first women's organization in 1912 during the national movement by boedi oetomo. The organization consisted of women and men who cared about the fate of women. They voiced their ideas through magazines. The position of women who are shackled by customary support makes them powerless to voice their rights. The research aims to examine polygamy and early marriage in colonial society using historical methods, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. Heuristics were conducted by collecting primary sources from magazines and secondary books and journals with the keywords polygamy and early marriage. Criticism of primary and secondary data is internally selected to determine the authenticity of the source. Interpretation uses the lewis coser conflict approach. The result of the research is that the practice of early marriage occurs because the social system of society shackles and there is no power for women to reject the system. Meanwhile, polygamy that occurred in the 1900s had different intensities in each region. This practice had a negative impact on women, so Poetri Mardika tried to raise their status by paying attention through education and teaching. Through education, women can be independent and no longer depend on men so that they can express their rights and obligations without being hindered by the confinement of men.</span>

BIRTH OF THE WOMEN'S MOVEMENT IN INDEPENDENT PAKISTAN

How did the women's movement emerge in Pakistan and what factors created it? Was the women's movement born only from women's organizations? Do only urban women's organizations lead the entire country? Are class differences relevant here? Are knowledge creation and individual and collective consciousness the result of geographical and professional background? We can get answers to these questions only by analyzing theories. The path on which the women's movement in South Asia is moving is the path of integrating gender with development. Women's organizations in South Asian countries are fighting against the elements inimical to women's identity and are strongly opposing the politicization of religion. South Asian women are still trying to restore peace. Along with this, their movement is moving forward with other important issues, such as gender equality which is demanding equality at the level of law, capacity building, participation and governance. The struggle of the South Asian women's movement is visible on every issue. Lack of political power among women, gender inequality, health related issues, need for justice, human rights issues, need for peaceful development etc. are important issues but the path of women's movement in all these is difficult. Lack of state initiatives, feudal and patriarchal social structure and globalization market system and demand for cheap labor are making the path of this struggle more difficult. Many feminists believe that in the context of South Asia, women's movement and feminist movement are two different concepts. While women's movement talks about equal rights in a democratic structure, feminism challenges the legitimacy of a system which is oppressive for women.

Pemberdayaan Organisasi PKK dan UMKM Milik Bu Sri; Upaya Perbaikan Keterlibatan Wanita di Desa Setren

Women's empowerment is a modern concept that marks progressive changes in efforts to liberate from patriarchal culture, where women's involvement in society was previously very minimal. Efforts to align the portion of involvement of all genders are often referred to as the equal rights movement or women's liberation movement. In Setren Village, women's involvement is still low, with the achievement of SDG 5 point "Village Women's Involvement" only 26.32%. Based on this assessment, our community service work program is focused on increasing women's involvement. We initiated two main programs: empowerment of Village PKK Organizations through the creation of Village Gardens and education on Verticulture planting media, as well as rebranding of Mrs. Sri's Village MSMEs which operate in the soybean juice beverage sector. By partnering with the PKK, this women's empowerment organization is expected to be able to contribute to community development. Support for MSMEs also aims to improve the economic and environmental aspects of villages. This research aims to evaluate the results of the women's empowerment program in Setren Village. In contrast to previous research which focused on crafts, our approach uses planting media education and MSME support. The service will be carried out for three months, from March to July 2024, in accordance with the SDGs of Setren Village. The methods used include surveys, discussions and problem identification. Surveys were conducted at the Village Hall and the Village Head's house to obtain initial information. The second visit was made to Mrs. Sri's house to understand the condition of MSMEs. After identifying the problem, discussions were held to determine the work program based on the relevant Setren Village SDG point 5.

Activity of Public Organizations Aimed at Ensuring Health Protection of Women Seafarers

Introduction. Navigation is one of the oldest professions associated with a wide range of factors that negatively affect physical, mental, and social well-being. Besides the general characteristics of the seafarer's profession, the wellbeing of women onboard depends on physiological characteristics, the social environment and the team’s social climate. In international practice, there is a vast experience of the participation of the non-profit sector in addressing issues of seafarers' health. A special attention is paid to women's public organizations, whose activities are focused on women seafarers. The purpose of the study was to review the activities of public (non-governmental, non-profit) women's organizations aimed at protecting the health of civilian female seafarers. Materials and methods. In this research, general scientific research methods were used: analysis, synthesis, generalization, as well as secondary data analysis of the international study “Women Seafarers' Health and Welfare Survey,” where health problems and accessibility of medical care for civilian female seafarers were discussed. Results. Civil navigation, both on land and at sea, is regarded as one of the most difficult professions in the world. Working conditions may lead to a wide range of problems with physical, mental, and emotional well-being of seafarers. Women employed in civil navigation face specific problems related to their health and its protection, as well as to the availability of health care. When the protection of women's health is not supported by the shipowner or ship management team, it can be provided by public organizations of women seafarers.

Aisyiyah Dan Pemberdayaan Perempuan Dalam Upaya Kesetaraan Gender

The differences between men and women often lead to gender inequality, which results in stereotypes against women. The issue of the position and role of women remains an interesting subject to study. Since the establishment of Muhammadiyah, KH. Ahmad Dahlan has paid great attention to the development of women. Under the guidance of KH. Ahmad Dahlan and Nyai Walidah (the wife of KH. Ahmad Dahlan), they founded an organization named “Aisyiyah” to elevate the status and dignity of Muslim women. This research is descriptive with qualitative data support that is inductive in nature, which means the research starts from specific realities and then abstracts them into general conclusions. The data sources required for this research are found in both primary and secondary books. The results of the research show that Aisyiyah also played a role in the formation of Indonesian women's organizations by advocating for equal rights between men and women. Gender equality, as understood by Aisyiyah, is based on abilities rather than gender or physical appearance. One of Aisyiyah's concrete actions in empowering women and promoting equal rights is in the field of education. During the Dutch colonial period, women were able to receive the same level of education as men. The role of women in accessing various spaces has been realized by Aisyiyah through tangible programs that continue to this day.

A Feminist Critique of Women Portrayal in NGUGI WA THIONGO’S Devil on the Cross

African American Literature demonstrates that the Black Women's Feminism Caucus acknowledged that black women faced a dual patriarchal oppression from within their own community and from white society. This paper examines how Devil on the Cross portrays a Kikuyu woman striving for liberation and transformative change in Kenyan society. Employing a feminist perspective, the researcher contends that Ngugi Wa Thiong'o illustrates the plight of women in Kenyan society, interpreting feminism within its cultural framework. Building on this foundation, the study advocates for the designation of essential services such as police protection, justice, shelters, helplines, and community support services, ensuring they receive adequate support and resources to operate during pandemics and other public emergencies affecting women and girls. It emphasizes the necessity of involving women and women's civil society organizations in policy formulation, development, and implementation to integrate their knowledge, experiences, and needs into response strategies. Furthermore, it stresses the importance of prioritizing prevention and protection against gender-based and domestic violence in national responses by collecting detailed data on the prevalence of such violence and identifying which demographics of women and girls are most vulnerable. CASE STUDY OF ENHANCING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FEMALE ASSOCIATION- AN EXAMPLE OF CHIAYI FEIYAN ENTREPRENEURS ASSOCIATION

Women are increasingly assuming vital roles in the domestic industry, with numerous domestic organizations dedicated to assisting women in employment and entrepreneurship. The government has also allocated significant resources for guidance and support. The operational performance of these organizations reflects the tangible benefits of counseling and the influence of women in both the business and social spheres. This study employs qualitative research methods such as "case study," "in-depth interview," and "focus group interview," utilizing the "Balanced Scorecard, BSC" framework, with the Chiayi Feiyan entrepreneurship development association (EDA).as the case study. Through interviews, the study explores how to enhance the operational performance of women's organizations. Using the case study organization as an example, the research results in areas such as finance, operational processes, learning and growth, and customer relations can serve as a reference for other branches or similar organizations, aiming to improve the effectiveness of counseling for women's employment and entrepreneurship.

Women’s Role in Local Development: Enhancing Gender Equality in Wan Yai District, Mukdahan Province, Thailand

Purpose: This research was conducted using a qualitative method. The objectives were: 1) to study women’s roles in local development; 2) to analyze the supporting and hindrance factors that affect the roles of women in the local area; and 3) to suggest pathways for the roles of women in local development to reduce gender inequality in Thai society. Method: The collective data came from in-depth interviews with provincial and district developers. Women's empowerment working groups conducted focus groups in four districts: Wan-Yai, Cha-Note, Bang-Sai Noi, and Pong-Kam Dong-Moo. Furthermore, the researcher focused on the women villagers to analyze the factors that influence women's empowerment in the local area and make recommendations to the local administration's women's development strategic plan. Results: Women's role in the Wan Yai district is significant. Women also participate in many aspects of the local community. Regarding politics, some women are interested in applying for local elections, and others work as public health volunteers. In economic terms, many women are essential to generating income and development in the area. Most women in the district are members of the Women's Empowerment Fund, a low-interest source promoting job creation and building careers. Research Implication: Regarding culture, women's groups participated in local traditions, such as the Twelve Annual Festivals of Isan People and the Christmas Celebration. Strong women's organizations and women's participation at all levels supported women's empowerment. However, the obstructing factors to women's development were competition from locals with similar careers and the emigration of the working-age population and younger generations. Originality/Value: In summary, the recommendations for the relevant organizations are the network and women's empowerment organizations, NGOs, and educational institutions to integrate abstractly, investigate, and evaluate continually towards the provincial strategic plan.

Kupi II Congress and Results of Religious Views on Contemporary Women's Issues in the Perspective of Islamic Anthropology

This paper is a study related to the Indonesian Women's Ulama Congress (KUPI) and its religious views through an Islamic feminist anthropology approach. This is because the discussion on KUPI hasn’t been captured through this approach. In fact, by this approach, the problems surrounding women can be seen in more depth and detail. By using primary data from observations and secondary data from literature reviews, the results found that KUPI or the Indonesian Women's Ulama Congress is a women's organization in Indonesia that brings together various individual backgrounds to study women's problems based on Islamic teachings that are mutabadil. Through discussions, halaqoh and religious meetings, the first KUPI congress in Cirebon produced three religious views while the second congress in Jepara produced five religious views and several recommendations regarding the protection of women from religious extremism, forced marriages, dangers of pregnancies due to settlement, genital injuries, and issues environment. KUPI activities are cultural in nature. Participants who come from various backgrounds bring facts and data in the field to be interacted with in order to realize human reason, mind and power which then shape culture and find an Islamic religion that is moderate, gender fair and provides human welfare.

Contribution of Women in Political Movement of Nepal

This article explores the extraordinary contributions made by women to Nepal's political movement, demonstrating their fundamental influence on the political climate of the nation. The study investigates the varied political activism of Nepalese women through an analysis of historical accounts, academic research, and direct testimonies. In Nepal, women have been instrumental in political movements, community mobilization, and advocacy for social and political change. They have actively taken part in protests, rallies, and neighborhood campaigns, pushing back against patriarchal conventions and clamoring for equitable participation in governmental organizations. In order to advance gender equality and women's rights in the political sphere, the article examines the effects of women's organizations, women-led projects, and female activists. It looks at their initiatives to remove social constraints, boost women's political participation, and combat gender-based prejudice. This article also examines the obstacles women have had to overcome while examining the crucial role they have played in Nepal's political movement and their contributions to constitutional changes. The paper offers insights on the empowerment of women within the Nepali political system by a thorough analysis of scholarly research, historical records, and documented experiences.

Evaluating Women's Economic Empowerment During COVID-19 Pandemic in South Sulawesi, Indonesia

The factual condition resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic has changed and impacted various aspects of Indonesian society. It also made women one of the vulnerable and affected groups, requiring them to face various challenges, including loss of livelihoods as family breadwinners, and gender-based violence. Outside of Java, the region with the highest number of COVID-19 cases is South Sulawesi Province, with a total of 62,672 cases. This had an economic impact on communities and families, particularly affecting women, especially domestic workers, and female heads of households. This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of government policies and programs in South Sulawesi Province regarding domestic workers and female heads of households. It directly conducted interviews with stakeholders from the government, women's organizations, and domestic workers and female heads of households. It found that the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted women who are heads of households and female domestic workers. The situation for women leading households worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic as they had to navigate the crisis on their own. The situation and conditions of female domestic workers during the COVID-19 pandemic were also dire. Some of them were unilaterally terminated, while others were forced to work daily at their employers' homes, risking virus transmission during their commute due to inadequate personal protective equipment. Those who were laid off by their employers faced a crisis, as they had no income, especially when their spouses, who also worked in the informal sector, stopped working simultaneously. It revealed that both the government of South Sulawesi empowered female heads of households by distributing productive business capital assistance and providing support for female SMEs to access people's business credit. However, in contrast to the reality faced by female domestic workers, this group of women did not receive any social and economic assistance from the government during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Peran dan Kedudukan Perempuan Dalam Laskar Hizbullah Pada Masa Resolusi Jihad Sebagai Wawasan Sejarah Lokal

The Jihad Resolution period in Indonesia was an event where Muslims agreed to defend Indonesia's independence. At this time, almost all elements of society took part, including women. The role of women during the Jihad Resolution period included supporting Laskar Hezbollah. This role of women cannot be separated from women's organizations, mothers, wives, and other individuals. However, the role of women during this period is less discussed in history, especially through the dimensions of women's femininity itself. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to present the role of women in the perspective of struggle in general and women's historiography through the dimension of femininity. In examining this research, a historical qualitative research type with a historical or historiographic approach is used with data collection methods through interviews and literature studies. So that the results of the research show that women have a role in the front line through the perspective of the struggle at that time, and have a role in the back line through the dimensions of women's femininity that are set aside by the patriarchal culture at that time which views how the act of struggle should be. Women contributed directly or indirectly, consciously, or unconsciously participated in the struggle through the things they could and used to do. Things that women did that were seen as not important, but had a chain effect on Indonesia's independence. And how women's actions are synonymous with gentleness which becomes a strength for them to support fighters who need that side amid the chaos of war. Thus, the role of women became complex in times of war, not only on the front lines and rear lines but in society emotionally, socially, and morally.

The Movement of Women's Organizations in Preventing Radicalism in Lampung Province

The issue of extremism that has the potential for terrorism in Lampung province has become a concerning matter. Recent reports have revealed that Densus 88 has arrested two suspected terrorist groups in Lampung province within the last three months of 2023. According to BNPT, Lampung province ranks fourth in Indonesia in terms of the potential for extremist and terrorist activities. Women play a crucial role in preventing the spread of radical ideologies and are expected to actively provide enlightenment and education within both the family and the wider society. This research project focuses on investigating the involvement of the women’s organization Muslimat NU in Lampung province in preventing extremism and terrorism. The research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach and refers to information related to the research topic. The findings of the research indicate that the success of preventing extremism lies not only at the government policy level but primarily at the smallest unit, which is the family. The primary defense against extremism and terrorism lies in the role of women within the family. The movement carried out by Muslimat NU focuses on instilling and promoting an understanding of national and religious values following Islamic teachings.
