The study's findings show that women's economic development efforts have been ineffective due to a lack of management and development capacity to operate their businesses and budget constraints. due to a lack of operating capital, policies, and fierce competition in the corporate world

A Study on Economic Development of Women through Skill Training Programme at Small Industries Product Promotion Organisation (SIPPO)

The concept of a skill training program for entrepreneurial development involves equipping a person with the required information and knowledge used for enterprise building and polishing His/her entrepreneurial skills. Nowadays, the skill training program has been used as an essential tool to make new entrepreneurs. To enrich the development and empowerment of women, SIPPO has promoted many women as entrepreneurs in various fields like Food Industries, Food Processing Industries, handicrafts, Essential Oils, Cosmetics, and coir works through providing skill training programs. This study is conducted to identify the effectiveness of skill training programs the researcher used primary data collected from the beneficiaries who were attended the skill training program organized by SIPPO in Madurai and Dindigul.

Factors affecting women entrepreneurs\u2019 success: a study of small- and medium-sized enterprises in emerging market of Pakistan

In the present era, women are recognized as successful entrepreneurs through their strong desire, qualities, and capabilities for robust economic development. Due to such an important contribution of women in economic development, we propose to investigate the factors which affect women entrepreneur’s success in Pakistan. Data were collected through structured questionnaires from 181 registered SMEs operating in Pakistan. A conceptual model is developed, while SPSS and AMOS software’s are used for analysis. The results indicate that the internal factors including the need for achievements, risk-taking, and self-confidence and external factors including economic factors and socio-cultural factors have a positive and significant influence on the success of women-owned enterprises. This research recommends Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), policymakers, and practitioners to encourage women entrepreneurs to run their businesses for the long term by providing a variety of incentives and supports related to those internal and external factors. Numerous studies have been conducted to test the different factors’ effects on women’s entrepreneurial success, but our study investigated some psychological, cultural, and religious factors that are still almost untouched especially in Pakistan. The current study also contributes to the existing literature through empirical shreds of evidence.

Technowomen: Women’s Autonomy and Its Impact on Environmental Quality

The role of women in economic development and the global environment is vital for progressing them towards the United Nations sustainable development goal (SDG-5) that emphasized the need to empower women in every walk of life. The study examines women’s autonomy in the sustainable development agenda under China’s open innovation system from 1975 to 2019. The study employed an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model, vector autoregressive (VAR) Granger causality, and innovation accounting matrix to estimate parameters. The existing data are summarized and collated in the context of China to explain as a correlational study. The results show that women’s autonomy moderated with technology spills over to decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and substantiate the hump-shaped relationship between them. The increased spending on research and development (R&D) activities, patent publications, and renewable energy consumption empowers women to be equipped with the latest sustainable technologies to improve environmental quality. The pollution haven hypothesis verifies a given country, where trade liberalization policies tend to increase polluting industries to set up their plants that engaged in dirty production that exacerbate GHG emissions. The causality estimates confirmed that technological innovations and renewable energy consumption leads to women’s autonomy. In contrast, females’ share in the labor force participation rate leads to an increase in renewable energy consumption. Thus, it is evident that there is a positive role of women in the country’s sustainable development.

International labour migration by women from Vietnam to Taiwan: policy and practice

ABSTRACT This article aims to investigate the efficacy of the Vietnamese government’s policy to use international labour migration, specifically domestic workers, as a tool for the economic development of women. Several context-specific factors, including social and cultural, were found to limit the size and duration of the development impact of such a policy. The article concludes that international labour migration cannot be a substitute for government policies and programmes supporting skill development and industrial investments in the poorer provinces of Vietnam, which are home to many of the labour migrants.

Women Technology Parks: A novel solution for women entrepreneurship and empowerment through location specific technologies and waste material utilization

Social and economic development of women will lead to the progress of any society. Particularly, empowering empower women in rural areas is both challenging and essential. Women entrepreneur faces many barriers to success such as a lack of financial independence and education, family, work-life balance, male-dominated society, and social-culture barrier. The Women Technology Park (WTP) is an initiative that leverages the use of appropriate technology to catalyze economic growth and development of rural women by raising their productivity, generating sustainable income, and improving their livelihoods. This paper uses a WTP model to illustrate the process of developing, training and enabling of rural technologies related to metal art, banana fiber extraction, weaving, construction and habitat services, and food processing technologies. It presents how a WTP acts as a resource center and a catalyst to translate opportunities into reality to empower rural women.

Women constitutes the family, which leads to society and nation. Social and economic development of women is necessary for overall economic development of any society or a country. Woman has competed with man and successfully stood up with him in every walk of life and business. Women managed to survive and succeed in this competititon with their hard work, diligence and perseverance. This paper of women entrepreneurship has been discussed the effective stress management of women micro entrepreneurs for the change of them from care taker of the family to economic supporter of the family. Here Kudumbasree played an effective role for strengthening the self help groups there by making a direct impact on the sustainable social, economic development of women and a direct impact on their living status, educational, nutritional and health needs of their children positively.We recommend to conduct more awareness sessions, recreational activities and meditation sessions for effective stress management skills to women micro entrepreneurs.

Gender mainstreaming in action? The Scottish Structural and Investment Funding Program 2014-2020

Since its inception, the European Union (EU) has been at the forefront of the promotion of gender equality. A key feature of the EUs approach to gender equality was the development and promotion of Gender Mainstreaming (GM) as an innovative approach to achieving gender equality. GM has been used as an approach to integrate gender into programme formulation, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation across the EU policy programmes, including the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF), which plays a key role for both the inclusion and promotion of the contributions of women in economic development. GM is a well-researched gender equality strategy, however there is little consensus on its effectiveness and its ability to transform the policy paradigm and attempts to operationalise GM have been limited. Despite a large body of academic literature, there is limited recent research which links GM and the ESIF, specifically at a local level. Therefore, this article aims to do that by considering whether GM as part of regional development policy can be utilised as a tool for delivering transformative changes. Scotland’s approach to GM within the ESIF is analysed utilising process tracing and semi-structured interviews with ESIF stakeholders in Scotland. Key findings are outlined for the 2014-2020 funding period at the national and project level.

Women’s Role in Economic Development of Afghanistan

Throughout the history, the central role of women in society has ensured the stability, progress and development of nations. The women of Afghanistan, a country that passed 4 decades of war, but still they are taking part in making our beloved Afghanistan a better place. Economic development of a country is something which requires a collective work with diligence, honesty, talent, knowledge, leadership, discipline and above all a motivated and inspired sum of people specially women. Being a woman in a country which traditions come first is something which makes it very difficult for playing the role effectively. Women's economic empowerment refers to the ability for women to enjoy their right to control and benefit from the resources, assets, income and their own time, as well as the ability to manage risk and improve their economic status and well-being. In this paper, the role of women in economic development of Afghanistan will be explained point by point by using primary and secondary data from reliable and accurate resources plus, programs and workshops for women economic empowerment and the barriers and obstacles faced by them as well.

El empoderamiento productivo de la mujer como consecuencia de la Inclusión Financiera

El documento analiza la importancia de la inclusión financiera y la relación que genera con el desarrollo económico de la mujer a través del emprendimiento productivo. El objetivo es mostrar la importancia que produce el trabajo mancomunado entre los sectores que promuevan el acceso a servicios financieros y la creación de emprendimientos para buscar la igualdad de género, para esto se señala la rentabilidad que provocan las mujeres, la evolución de la creación de empresas y sus fuentes de financiamiento, las barreras que se enfrentan al momento de iniciar los emprendimientos y los beneficios que conlleva la inclusión financiera. Por último, los autores resaltan las buenas prácticas y políticas públicas que fomentan los objetivos de igualdad y crecimiento económico de las mujeres.

Enhancing Women's Economic Empowerment through G-WiN Project: Research Report

The lack of women empowerment calls for research by scholars and policy makers. This article explores the impact of G-WiN project on women economic empowerment in Nigeria. We used questionnaire, interview, web surveys, and direct observation in data collection. Key findings of the study showed that lack of skills and political and economic power affect the marginalization of women in Nigeria. Based on the research results, it was concluded that G-WiN Project plays a critical role in the economic development of women. In line with this, the study recommends that implementation of this and similar programs can support women and girls and improve their position in society.

Reviews the main obstacles facing the female entrepreneurs, also suggest the way for elimination and reduction of such hurdles for development.

A Study on Role of Women in Economic Development in India

Social and Economic Empowerment for Village Women as a Strategy of Village Development

The issuance of Law No. 6/2014 that is followed with the distribution of village fund has led the rise of program initiatives from village people. One of the crucial elements of development that needs for attention is social and economic development for women. Women's roles in these two areas are significant as compared to the other sectors like politics. Developing women in these two sectors is expected to encourage further development in the village. The research aims to identify the involvement of women in village development, in one village in Central Java, Lerep Village, Ungaran Barat District, Semarang Regency, through two domains: social and economic in 2017. This research is based on qualitative research using first-hand data collected from interviews with selected informants. This research used a case study as an approach and was focused on one village, namely Lerep, Semarang District, Central Java. In Lerep, we can see that the government have strived to a prioritized woman in their empowerment programs. The areas of development include health, education, domestic violence minimization, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and poverty reduction. As a result, women in Lerep could gain more income and enjoy some public facilities provided by the village government, which contribute to the improvement of woman health. In the future, there is a need to encourage woman empowerment as a framework for village development. Therefore, the advantage of the village fund will bring further impacts on society as a whole.

Impacts of Gender Differences on Women’s Participation in Community Work in Abbay Chomman Woreda, Ethiopia

Though the participation of women in economic development and community work usually realized low as a whole due to various reasons, the contribution of gender in creating the difference in terms of their status even among the participatory women is untouched area. For instance, the research conducted by Atinafu Diga (2013) on assessment of economic empowerment of women the related studies entitled Assessment of economic empowerment of Women in Kolobo kebele, Abay chomman Woreda dealt with only inadequate economic empowerment problems and low participation of Women in educational leadership areas respectively as their overall findings. As a result, this study is undertaken to assess the status of women disparity to participate in community work in case of kolobo kebele, Ambo town, Oromia Regional State; Ethiopia.This study is descriptive in nature. For this particular study, both quantitative and qualitative research approach were employed. In doing this research paper, of the total population,79 samples were selected from the town selected using simple random and purposive sampling techniques. Here, 79 were responded for the 20 close-ended questions of the questionnaire and another 10 were responded for open-ended questions of the interview. To analyses the quantitative data, techniques such as tabulation, percentages, and numerical figures were employed to. On the other hand, Narration and comparative discussion were covered to analyse the qualitatively collected data.

Perceived Effects of Poverty on Urban Socio-Economic Development in Ambo Town, Ethiopia

This study was an assessment of the perceived effects of poverty on urban socio economic development in Ambo town. Poverty is deprivation in wellbeing and lack of basic necessities to sustain life. Prior researches conducted on the perception of people on the effects of poverty towards urban socio-economic development were insufficient in Ethiopia. Thus, the objectives of the study were to assess the effects of poverty on urban economic, education and healthcare development, and to examine the effects of poverty on women economic development in Ambo town. The research was a qualitative research, used primary data collected through key informant interview selected purposively from experienced persons residing in Ambo town. The data was analyzed using thematic method of analysis. The study indicated that poverty is highly prevalent in Ambo town mainly due to poor governance, corruption, poor investment flow, lack of political will from the government and political instability. The education and health care infrastructures were expanding in the town in the last decade but there were limitations in quality and service provision. Poverty has negatively affected poor people livelihoods in income generation, and medical as well as educational services in Ambo town. Women poverty in Ambo is higher than men and a significant number of women were living in destitution. Many women in Ambo town were economically dependent on men.

Employment Women Through Entrepreneurship Development and Education in Developing Countries

Women entrepreneurship is today one of the major factors contributing to a country’s prosperity and to the global market in general. However, females still own and manage significantly fewer businesses than men. Especially, women in developing countries face disadvantages and discrimination. Compared to their male counterparts, women in developing countries have a lower level of education and skill training. Another important challenge for female entrepreneurs in developing countries is the issue of safety and protection of women, especially those operating in the informal economy. The most female entrepreneurs in developing economies are motivated to start their businesses out of necessity, reflecting lack of employment alternatives or dissatisfaction with existing employment. The overall nature and extent to which female entrepreneurship can develop in developing economies is greatly influenced by project to strengthening them. In line with this, the aim of our research was to explore the impact of one of these programmes -GWIN project and its effect to empowering women in Nigeria. Based on the findings, it was concluded that GWiN project plays a significant role in the economic development of women in Nigeria through the benefits of various supports to them.
