Peran Career Development Center (CDC) Upaya Pengembangan Mahasiswa di Universitas Wiralodra Indramayu

A number of universities have established Career Development Centers (CDC) or career development units, designed to assist students in understanding career-related materials and making informed career decisions. In reality, not everyone has equal opportunities to secure a good and promising job. Therefore, it is not surprising that many people flock to find employment. Wiralodra University faces challenges due to the absence of CDC (Career Development Center) services, making it difficult for students to obtain the advice and materials needed to advance their professions. The Career Development Center (CDC) plays a crucial role in student development, primarily focusing on enhancing career readiness. CDC not only provides efficient, up-to-date job vacancy information but also aims to support the career development of students and alumni through counseling services, alumni experience sharing, and training to prepare them for the challenges of the job market. Evaluations conducted by CDC, based on criteria tailored to specific needs, have shown that this program has made a significant impact. Students involved with the CDC experience increased career readiness, quick access to relevant information, and build strong relationships with industries, all contributing to the comprehensive development of students in achieving their career goals

Supporting Digital Administration and Finance Competencies for BESIK's Wiralodra University Management in 2024: Towards Transparency and Efficiency in Student Organizations

This training focuses on applying digital technology in student organizations' administrative and financial management, aiming to enhance efficiency, transparency, and collaboration within organizational management. The critical concepts explored include digitalization, particularly the utilization of Google Drive and Google Sheets, and their impact on the quality of organizational governance. The study employs a focused discussion method, engaging 20 administrators from UKM BESIK's at Wiralodra University for the 2024-2025 academic year during a training session held on October 16, 2024. The results indicate that digitalization enhances the effectiveness of financial and document management and strengthens coordination and accountability. These findings hold significant implications for other student organizations seeking to develop a technology-based management system that fosters a more transparent and professional organizational culture

Building Consumer Trust in E-Commerce (Survey: Wiralodra University Students)

This study aims to analyze the influencing factors and strategies that can be used to build consumer trust in e-commerce. Through a comprehensive literature review, this study identifies factors such as transaction security, data privacy, display quality, and information quality as important elements in building consumer trust. In addition, strategies such as ability, benevolence, and integrity also play an important role in increasing consumer trust. By understanding the importance of consumer trust and implementing appropriate strategies, businesses can strengthen customer relationships, increase loyalty, and achieve sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive environment. The research method used in this study is library research. Data is collected through analyzing various literature sources, including academic journals, books, research reports, and electronic sources related to consumer trust in e-commerce. Through this method, the research can provide deep insight into the theoretical foundations and empirical findings that exist in the literature related to consumer trust in e-commerce. The results of this study reveal some significant findings related to building consumer trust in the context of e-commerce. In this study, factors such as transaction security, data privacy, display quality and information quality were identified as key elements that influence consumer trust.

Plant Anatomy Practicum Assisted by Online Microscope Viewer to Enhance Students' Kinesthetic Bodily Intelligence

Initial conditions of plant anatomy practical learning at Wiralodra University indicate a lack of training in students' kinesthetic bodily intelligence. This is evident as students do not feel proficient in operating microscopes and determining microscope magnification, indicating a lack of trained kinesthetic bodily intelligence. Based on this issue, a digital microscope is needed to train students' kinesthetic bodily intelligence in plant anatomy practicals. The innovation of digital microscope technology is necessary as a supporting tool for plant anatomy practicals. The objective of this study is to develop an Online Microscope Viewer to enhance students' multiple intelligences in plant anatomy practicals. Considering the nature of the study as the development of an Online Microscope Viewer, the research design used is Research and Development. The study subjects consist of 185 second-semester biology education students from the Biology Education program at Wiralodra University, divided into five classes. The sampling method used is cluster random sampling, with two classes, Bio B (experimental group) and Bio D (control group), selected under the condition that the populations are homogeneous. The results indicate that the developed Online Microscope Viewer used in plant anatomy practicals is highly valid. The developed Online Microscope Viewer can significantly enhance students' kinesthetic bodily intelligence in plant anatomy practicals, categorized as high. There is a significant difference in the improvement of students' kinesthetic bodily intelligence between the class using the Online Microscope Viewer and the class using binocular light microscopes.

Interest Analysis of Computer Engineering Students of Universitas Wiralodra in The Use of Electronic Wallets

ABSTRACT Now technology is developing very rapidly. One of the fields that follow technological developments is in the financial sector. Financial technology (fintech) is an update in the financial sector that is centered on today's technology. One of the fintechs currently in development is a digital wallet (e-wallet). E-wallet is an application that stores nominal e-money and transactions can be carried out via mobile media by connecting the network to the internet. E-money is an electronic payment medium by first handing over a certain amount of money to the publisher, either directly or through the publisher's agents. For payment transactions by reducing the value of money on the e-money media. The study was conducted to analyze the interest of Computer Engineering students at Wiralodra University in using digital wallets as a modern technology. By distributing questionnaires to Computer Engineering students at Wiralodra University. The results of the media questionnaire were processed using multiple linear regression calculations. The results obtained from this study are students' interest in e-wallet with perceptions of convenience, efficiency and security.

INVESTIGATING THE FACTORS AFFECTING STUDENTS’ PROBLEMS IN SPEAKING PERFORMANCE (A CASE STUDY IN ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF WIRALODRA UNIVERSITY)

Speaking is considered the most challenging skill in language learning, especially in an academic speaking context. It is uncommon for the students to find the problems and need more effort to have a good speaking performance. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the factors affecting students’ problems in speaking performance. This research investigates performance conditions and affective factors mentioned by Tuan & Mai (2015). This research was attended by 20 students of the 4th semester in the English Education Department of Wiralodra University. The instrument of this research used a questionnaire and interview. Twenty students participated in the questionnaire, and six out of twenty students participated in the interview. The data was analyzed by using dichotomous questions analysis. The results revealed that performance conditions and affective factors affect the students’ problems in speaking performance. The results indicate that planning was the major frequency in performance conditions, followed by support, the standard of performance, and time pressure. At the same time, self-confidence and anxiety became the major categories of affective factors and were followed by the motivation category. The writer suggests further research to investigate another factor affecting students’ problems in speaking performance with different focuses in terms of participants' scale, students’ level, and kind of speaking performance.

EXPLORING UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF THE BENEFITS AND DRAWBACKS IN DISTANCE LEARNING DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC

This present research focused on exploring undergraduate students’ perception of distance learning in terms of experiences, benefits, and drawbacks (time management, cost, technical difficulties). It was grounded in a qualitative approach with a phenomenological case study design. Three undergraduate students of the 9th semester from the English Education Department in Wiralodra University were recruited to participate in this research. The data were derived from the three-interview series framework that consists of fifteen questions. The interview data were qualitatively analyzed by using inductive phenomenological reduction based on Seidman (2013). This research revealed that undergraduate experience varies, from the struggle with the connection to the limited communication between lecturer-students or student-students. Distance learning also impacts their feeling on how they mean distance learning, which makes the students mostly lazier as the communication is also limited and the policy is none to them who are not attending the class. It is also showed benefits and drawbacks where it is more flexible but unstable. The cost comes to be cheaper, but they still pay the tuition fee even though they did not use the campus facility, and the main technical difficulties lie in which device and apps they used at that moment.

EFL PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS' IDENTITY CONSTRUCTION DURING TEACHING PRACTICE PROGRAM

Professional teachers are an essential element in realizing the quality of education (Boyle, 2013). The teaching practice program is conducted as one of the training programs to become professional teachers for the pre-service teachers. During this program, EFL pre-service teachers begin to construct their teacher identity with various images of teachers. This case study explored the process of the pre-service teachers' identity construction from the perspective of sociocultural theory and the factors that contribute to the process. By distributing interviews and personal narratives to three EFL pre-service teachers in Wiralodra University, findings demonstrated that the process of pre-service teachers' identity construction is complex and personal. The teachers' identity construction involves both personal and social perspectives. From a personal perspective, it involves emotions and the self (self-image and self-esteem), and social perspective involves experiences and social interaction. This study also found that the preparation of materials and the choice of suitable methods and media for learning became challenges for the pre-service teachers. In addition, the pre-service teachers' identity construction is influenced by some factors. For example, they were mentoring and supervising, tensions, identity recognition, previous teaching experiences, pedagogy, content-area knowledge, relationship with students. That led to the development of pre-service teachers' identities.

Exploring Undergraduate Students’ Online Interaction in Academic Reading Classroom via WhatsApp Application

This research aimed to discuss the potential of the WhatsApp application as a tool of online learning at a higher educational level that could stimulate students’ interactions and discussion with the lecturer or their peers. With interactions, they can experience and develop an awareness of behaviors required to facilitate their participation in online learning. Therefore, this study identified the specific and general types of undergraduate students’ online interactions and investigated their patterns across time. The study was carried out by 6 undergraduate students of the 2019/2020 academic year in the English Education Department, Wiralodra University. Students’ posts in WhatsApp group discussion were analyzed in terms of online interaction types identified by MacKinnon (2000) and Jung et al. (2002). The result shows that the students mostly expressed their opinions and judgments in academic-related discussions rather than moved to a higher level of knowledge construction, such as providing their own example upon their ideas and elaborating more on certain topics in the discussion. Further investigation can be done to find the factors that affect students’ interaction, the relationship between topics, and online interactions in another online learning platform.

AN INVESTIGATION OF UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION IN USING GOOGLE CLASSROOM APPLICATION IN ELT TRAINING CLASSROOM

Nowadays, many lecturers use various tools to support the online learning process, such as Moodle, Schoology, Edmodo, and Google Classroom. This study focuses on exploring the undergraduate students’ perceptions of Google Classroom’s implementation in online English Learning. With the case study design, seven undergraduate students from English Education Department in Wiralodra University participated in this study. The questionnaire and interview were used to collect the data, and both of them were analyzed qualitatively. The study results revealed that in terms of implementation, the Google Classroom application is an application that is easy to use, less effective in material explanation, and effective in the technic of administration and material management. Then, this study showed some positive impacts of the Google Classroom application. First, Google Classroom can record an effort of learning, material and assignment. The second, it provides quick access to collect an assignment, and The last, it minimizes the cost of learning. However, this study also revealed some negative impacts, such as trouble with an internet connection speed and screen display of google classroom. So, from the result of the study, it can be concluded that Google Classroom can be one of the application choices in teaching undergraduate students.

What is the relationship between self-regulated learning and students’ mathematical understanding in online lectures during the covid-19 pandemic?

Covid-19 pandemic forced online lecturing and learning from home (LFH) to be carried out on all campuses in Indonesia. One obstacle in implementing LFH is how students can organize themselves so they can learn well from home. Based on observations in class, students who can manage their learning (Self-Regulated Learning, SRL) well tend to better understand the mathematical material provided. Mathematical understanding is very important because it becomes the basis for students to be able to master other higher mathematical abilities. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between self-regulated learning and students’ mathematical understanding in online lectures during the covid-19 pandemic. This research is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects in this research were 14 students contracted discrete mathematics courses on mathematics education department at Wiralodra University in the 2019/2020 event semester by purposive sampling technique. The instruments of this research were self-regulated learning questionnaires, mathematical understanding tests and interviews. Data analysis consist of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The results showed that there are directly proportional relationship between self-regulated learning and students’ mathematical understanding. Based on these findings, it is necessary to apply self-regulated learning strategies in lectures to improve students’ mathematical understanding.

THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF CREATIVE WRITING IN RELATION WRITING SKILL

In this era, writing is one of the skills that should be mastered by the students, because it will be useful in the future. Writing has a purpose of entertaining and of giving the information, for example, in creative writing. This research aimed to know the students’ perception of abilities they acquired after they participated in creative writing at the university level. The method of this research is descriptive analysis. The Participants of this research are coming from students in the fourth semester of English Department in Wiralodra University who took the Poetry subject Then the study resulted in the identification of abilities the students acquired after learning creative writing, the students are more self-confidence, critical reading and gain their vocabulary, grammar and punctuation in writing.

PENGEMBANGAN BUKU AJAR KAPITA SELEKTA MATEMATIKA DASAR BERBASIS TERPADU UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS MAHASISWA

<p>The purpose of this research was to develop valid tools for mathematic lessons. In this research, the developed lesson was basic mathematic capita selecta textbook based on Telaah, Eksplorasi, Rumuskan, Presentasikan, Aplikasikan, Duniawi dan Ukhrowi (TERPADU) to increase student’s problem solving in mathematic. The lesson tools which would be developed were: (1) Syllabus, (2) Semester Development Plan (SDP), (3) Textbook, and (4) Mathematic Problem Solving Skill Test, for students of Mathematic Educational Department, Wiralodra University. The development model used were lesson tools’s developing using Plomp modificate-model. The validity of lesson tools were assested by expert team validation and colleges. The result gained validation for <br />tools developed by five experts and gained overall average score “usable”. This validation counted as an excellent category thus the tools are valid.</p>

THE CONTRIBUTION OF CREATIVE WRITING ACTIVITY TOWARD STUDENT’S ENGAGEMENT IN POETRY CLASS

Consider the Creative writing is very popular rightnow, the researcher tried to investigated the Students’ engagement through Creative writing activities. This study investigated how far the creative writing will engage the students’ in learning poetry. The participant of this study was students in fourth semester of English Department in Wiralodra University. Therefore, this qulitative study sets out to investigate the students’ engagement in doing Creative writing activities in poetry Class.The findings suggest that Creative writing activities is able to engage students in poetry classroom. Then emotional engagement ( M= 32,63) is dominated followed by behavioral engagement ( M= 17.24) and cognitive engagement (M = 15,24 ). So it means Emotional engage­ment from their perspective has more to do with the pleasant and unpleasant emotions students connect to the activity and behavioral engagement focused on their effort but as cognotively not. In other words, they have effort to simply do the work but cannot focused on understand­ing and mastery. However this result showed that emotional engagement dominated in students engagement in poetry class, cognitive and behavioural still showed the positive engagement in poetry class.

PRE-SERVICE EFL TEACHERS’ PERCEPTIONS AND ACTUAL PRACTICES OF GIVING ORAL FEEDBACK IN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM: EXPLORATORY STUDY

The purposes of this study were to know the pre-service EFL teachers’ perceptions of their own oral feedback in apprenticeship program and to investigate the types of oral feedback that pre-service EFL teachers use in apprenticeship. It is supported by some problems found in the previous year apprenticeship program, pre-service teachers were seldom to give feedback to their students’ work or performance during the teaching and learning process, those pre-service teachers seem to be afraid to give more information or explanation about students’ work, tell the students’ incorrect work and give the students the correct answer explicitly, correct the students pronunciation, restate the correct form of students’ utterances, etc. To achieve the purpose of study, the writer used qualitative research method. The research participants were be taken from English Department students of Wiralodra University Indramayu that applied for apprenticeship program, there were 20 students that experienced their apprentceship program in several schools in Indramayu. The instrument of the research were observation and questionnaire modified from Sultana (2015). The finding showed that pre-service teachers’ were aware by the important of oral feedback to correct students’ mistakes, clarify the incorrect information, correct the students’ pronunciation, and restate the correct form of students’ utterances. Unfortunately in the teaching and learning process many of pre-service teachers did not execute oral feedback when they have to. Most of the oral feedback given to the students were focused on mispronunciation, grammar and vocabulary. Pre-service teachers seems did not notice misinformation mistakes and did not really aware of giving advice on students’ performance as the improvement strategy

PRE SERVICE TEACHERS’ UNDERSTANDING OF SCIENTIFIC APPROACH

This study investigated the implementation of scientific approach in apprenticeship program. It is aimed to describe and capture how pre service teachers implement scientific approach which consists of observing, questioning, exploring, associating and communicating in their teaching practice. What problems they faced during their teaching practice and how pre service teachers solve those problems. This study used a qualitative research design. The subjects of this study were three students of English Department of Wiralodra University who were doing apprenticeship program. Observation and questionnaire were used to validate the data. The findings showed that the three pre service teachers had implemented scientific approach in their teaching speaking although there still a lot of imperfectness and it can be concluded that between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd teacher candidates, the 3rd was the best to implement the scientific approach. The three pre service teachers also found problems in their teaching such in the process of questioning stage. However, both teacher candidates were able to solve the problem by not ask too many questions to the students, but have to guide the students to ask questions to help the students do the activity independently

PENGARUH KOMPOS SAMPAH KOTA DAN PUPUK KANDANG SAPI TERHADAP PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL TANAMAN PAKCOY (BRASSICA RAPA, L. CHINENSIS) PADA ALUVIAL KABUPATEN INDRAMAYU

The study aimed to determine the effect of the combination of city waste compost and cattle manure on the growth and yield of pakcoy plants (Brassica rapa, L. Chinensis) in Aluvial, Indramayu Regency. The study was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Wiralodra University, Indramayu Regency from March to August 2018. This study used Factorial Pattern Randomized Block Design with two factors. The first factor is city waste compost and the second factor is cattle manure with 4 levels: 0%, 3.0%, 6.0%, and 9.0%, repeated twice. The results showed that there was an independent influence between city waste compost and cattle manure on plant height and number of leaves. The best combination to increase the feasibility weight of pakcoy consumption is by giving city waste compost 9.0% (S4) and cattle manure 6.0% (K3).

How to practice creative thinking skills through scaffolding on biotech content?

Biotechnology content is a more applicative field of science, so learners should be able to have creative thinking skills in applying concepts to problem solving. In this research, Scaffolding learning has been conducted, which is student form of concept development based on constructivism learning paradigm and students build creative thinking skill through the creation of biotechnology product ideas. The research design was R & D method. The subject of this research is a semester V biology education student at Wiralodra University. The instruments used are biotechnology creative thinking tests and program implementation observations. The data of creative thinking test was analyzed using inferential statistic, while the observation sheet used descriptive analysis. The result of this research is the result of students’ creative thinking skill as well as description of the recommended shape and characteristics of the program, with the following results. The scaffolding learning program has a significant influence on students’ creative thinking skill, and the program that trains creative thinking skill is built through two phases, namely phase 1 in concept building where students build their own knowledge, and phase 2 where students build thinking skills creatively through the creation of biotechnology product ideas.

Pedagogical Competence of Pre-Service Teachers in Implementing PJBL (Project Based Learning)

This study described and explained the pedagogical competence of Pre service English teachers in Indonesia in implementing Project Based Learning in teaching writing narrative text during apprenticeship program. It described the implementation of Project Based Learning (PJBL) done by pre-service teachers. The steps in project based learning were getting the idea, design the project, tune the project, do the project and exhibit the project. This study used qualitative approach by describing the implementation of the PJBL. The subjects were four teacher candidates of VI semester English Department in Wiralodra University. The findings showed that the concept of PJBL not completely actualized in the classroom. This condition lead to problematic situation for the pre-service teachers. Comprehensive understanding should be taken by pre-service teacher in implementing PJBL in teaching writing narrative text. It is needed to achieve the target of English learning. Thus a deeper understanding of PJBL is needed not only the technical implementation but also cognitive implementation.

An Analysis of Mobile Dictionaries in Vocabulary Teaching

In recent years, rapid developments in technology have placed books and notebooks into the mobile phones and tablets and also the dictionaries into these small boxes. Giant dictionaries, which we once barely managed to carry, have been replaced by mobile dictionaries through which we can reach any words we want with only few touches. Mobile dictionaries with their audiovisual contents have become an important source for vocabulary teaching. Further studies are needed to use this source in a more efficient way and to benefit from it more effectively. Starting from this point, this study elaborates on the use of mobile dictionaries in vocabulary teaching. In the first place, advantages and the limits of the use of these dictionaries in vocabulary teaching are tried to be determined students viewpoint to them and how frequently they are used. In light of the emerging data, new ways are sought to use these dictionaries as a more efficient teaching material. For this purpose, a survey was conducted to seventy-eight students of Wiralodra University Indramayu in 2016 -2017 academic year. A survey form was prepared by receiving opinion of an expert and reviewing related literature. Descriptive statistic techniques were used in the analysis of data gathered. At the end of the study, almost all students expressed that they were constantly using mobile dictionaries to learn vocabulary. Besides, students put forth the advantages and limits of them. We hope this study will make contribution to studies regarding more efficient way to use of these dictionaries in vocabulary teaching.
