In the present power scenario depending more on conventional sources of power generation creating trouble for the environment and the other side, as coal reserves are vanishing coal based power plants becomes inadequate. Effective utilization of wind power will swipe the problems mentioned earlier. Fortunately wind energy is the cheapest and clean source of energy. But completely relaying on wind power is still a sensible question because of its power fluctuations due to variable wind speeds. Doubly fed Induction Generator (DFIG) is an added advantage to wind farms, but it frequently encounters with power quality problems caused by internal, external faults also due to speed fluctuations. Rotor side and grid converters play a crucial role to maintain the output power constant under all the operating conditions. Hence, protecting these converters from current harmonics caused by various disturbances is carried out in this paper. Throughout this paper, Fuzzy controller is used to diagnose the rotor converters to eliminate current harmonics. MATLAB/Simulink is used to validate the proposed method.
