Short Communication: Genetic diversity of Salacca edulis from West Seram District, Maluku, Indonesia based on morphological characters and RAPD profiles

Biodiversitas 19: 1777-1782. Morphological and RAPD-based genetic diversity analyses of Salacca edulis Reinw populations from West Seram District were performed. A survey was conducted in four locations in the village of Riring, Rumahsoal, Taniwel, Neniari, and Soya. Forty-two morphological characters and three RAPD primer were used. Data were analyzed on the NTSys program version 2.0 to perform UPGMA clustering analysis. An UPGMA dendrogram based on morphological characters resulted in two main groups with similarity value varied from 0.46-0.75 for morphology and 0.35-0.89 for RAPD. The result gives us important about cultivar of Salacca edulis in West Seram District Maluku which has high genetic diversity and germplasm. These results and can be used for further research for conservation as native cultivar.

IDENTIFIKASI TUMBUHAN SUMBER PAKAN DAN TINGKAT PALATABILITAS KUSKUS (FAMILI PHALANGERIDAE) DI DESA LUMOLI, SERAM, MALUKU

Cuscus is an Australian animal (marsupial) whose distribution is limited in Indonesia and its population is declining due to threats hunted for consumption, and traded illegally. To overcome the above problems it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive study of the type of feed in the hope of helping the conservation of these animals, especially in captivity. The purpose of this research is to study the types of plants as cuscus that live in captivity of Lumoli Village, West Seram District. This research begins with the observation of the type of kursus that lives in captivity of Lumoli Village. Study of feed type, depiction, and analysis. The results showed 44 species of plants in the village of Lumoli West Seram District, Maluku can be used as cuscus feed in captivity. Very good plant part as Source of Feed is young leaf of 28 species of plant (63,63%), 25 species (56,81%) are fruits, 4 species (9,09%) are flowers, 3 species (6,81 %) is a young shoot. The level of palatability of the cuscus indicates that the brown cuscus and white cuscus correspond to 43 plant species (97.72%) and can not be done 1 plant species (2.27%) (water apple), while the spotted cuscus and the gray magic cuscus 43 (97.72 %) plant types and unlike 1 plant species (2.27%) (Tomi-tomi). The proximate test results showed the highest ash content was available in the gray cuscus (18.95%) and the lowest in brown couscous (11.41%), the highest crude protein content in the gray cuscus (28.01%) and the lowest in white cuscus (23, 64%), crude fat content in cuscus totol (4.92%) and lowest in gray cuscus (2.93%), crude fiber content in gray cuscus (27.99%) and lowest in brown cuscus (21, 68% ). Can be concluded there are 44 types of forest plants that can be consumed either in the form of young leaves, fruit, flowers and young shoots. Further research is needed on additional types of feed for the cuscus in captivity.

Efektivitas Metil Eugenol Terhadap Penangkapan Lalat Buah (Bactrocera dorsalis) Pada Pertanaman Cabai

One of the major constraints in chili production system in Indonesia is the fruit fly attack on chili fruits. These pests often lead to crop failure if not treated seriously. One way used to suppress the pest population is the use of Methyl Eugenol attractant compound (Petrogenol 800 L). The study was conducted to determine the effect of methyl eugenol dose and catching time difference on fruit flies that were caught. The study took place in Waimital Village, Kairatu Subdistrict, West Seram District. The research was conducted in an experiment using a Randomized Block Design (RAB) with 5 treatments, namely: (A) 0.5 ml of methyl eugenol, (B) 1 ml of methyl eugenol, (C) 1.5 ml of methyl eugenol, (D) 2 ml methyl eugenol, (E) 2.5 ml of methyl eugenol, placed in a each trap. Observations were conducted when the insects were active at 10.00 (06.00-10,00 period) and when the insects were inactive at 18:00 hours (11:00 to 18:00 period) on the number of fruit fly imagoes that were captured. The results showed that the effective methyl eugenol dose to catch Bactrocera dorsalis was in treatment C (1.5 ml, with 32.53 fruit flies caught per day or 97.67 fruit flies catches during three days of observation. The highest number of catch for 3 days was at 2,5 ml, with 118.60 fruit flies caught.

INTENSIFIKASI PEMUNGUTAN DAN EKSTENSIFIKASI SUMBER PAD TERHADAP KEMANDIRIAN KEUANGAN DAERAH PEMEKARAN: STUDI PADA KABUPATEN SERAM BAGIAN BARAT DAN KABUPATEN KEPULAUAN ARU PROVINSI MALUKU

This research discussing the finance self-support problem by using intensification of collection and extensification of PAD source at the government of West Seram District and Aru Island District, Maluku Province. The objective of research is to test and analyzing the factors establishing the intensification of collection and extensification of PAD source, to test and analyzing the effect of intensification of collection and extensification of PAD source on local finance self-support, and recommending a strategy to the government of West Seram District and Aru Island District in pursuance of the local finance self-support. Population this research is civil servants on the government office at West Seram District and Aru Island District who runs the function as assigned to manage and to produce PAD amounts 744 civil servants in the scope of the government office at West Seram District and Aru Island District. This research use factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. Result of research indicates that the implementation of intensification of collection and extensification of PAD source in the government at West Seram District and Aru Island District have significantly influenced the improvement of local finance self-support.

MAPPING DESA TERKAIT INDEKS PEMBANGUNAN MANUSIA DI KECAMATAN KAIRATU DAN KAIRATU BARAT

This study aims to 1) Describe the actual conditions of education, health and welfare development of villagers in Kairatu and Kairatu Barat sub-districts of 2016. 2) Analyze the progress of human development that has been achieved by West Seram District in 2010-2015. 3) Calculating the size of HDI and its forming factors by village in Kecamatan Kairatu and Kairatu Barat 2016. 4) Analysis and mapping of villages related to HDI in Kecamatan Kairatu and Kairatu Barat 2016. Calculation method of Human Development Index (HDI) used in this research is New Method Year 2010. To improve the analysis result to determinant and performance of human development hence used qualitative descriptive analysis tool supported by table, graph / picture, area map, 4 quadrant matrix , ratios and percentages. During the period 2010-2015, achievements of human development performance in West Seram District showed an increasing trend year by year, with an average Human Development Index of 61.53% per year. This condition is supported / influenced by the economic performance of West Seram District, in the same period experienced an average growth of 6.03% per year. Nevertheless, the human development performance of West Seram District has not been satisfactory since it is still below the average of Maluku Province HDI. Local governments in Kairatu and Kairatu Barat sub-districts are still faced with a number of issues, namely 1) limited teachers and inadequate educational facilities. 2) limited health personnel and health infrastructure. Based on the results of HDI calculations at the village level in Kairatu and Kairatu Barat subdistricts, the first and second ranks are achieved by Kamal Village and Kairatu Village while Nuruwe and Lohiatala villages are ranked lowest. This condition is influenced by more advanced economic, health and education development in Kamal and Kairatu villages than other villages. In addition, low geographical and accessibility factors are the main constraints faced by villages with the lowest HDI ratings.

The Role of Mollucas Traditional Food on the Improvement of Risk Factors of Coronary Heart Disease

Background: More than 60% of the global burden of coronary heart disease occurs in developing countries and approximately 75% of cardiovascular disease can be attributed to conventional risk factors, most of which is modifiable. The Indonesia Diabetes-Obesity-Cardiovascular disease (DOCAR) Prevent Study has started from 2005 focusing on finding ways with local wisdom in preventing DOCAR. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the association between the Mollucas Traditional Food (MTF) diet and the risk factors of CHD. Methods: The design of the study is cross sectional. All participants were only men, pure mollucas ethnic, age ranging from 40 to 60 years old. The participants were devided into two group; 73 were in Ambon city with Non-MTF diet and 73 in Taniwel Village, West Seram district with MTF diet. Data were collected through measurements of physical and laboratory parameters (Lipid profile, adiponectin, free fatty acid [FFA], oxLDL, hsCRP) and analysed using univariat, independent - sample T-test, linier regression and double linier regression methods. Results: The CHD risk factors in non-MTF compare to MTF diet group are: waist circumference are 93.35 ±9.57 and 78.84±7.8 cm respectively (p=0.000); adiponectin level are 5.53±2.83 ng/mL and 12.06 ± 4.64 ng/mL respectively (p=0.000); hs-CRP level are 4.52 ± 9.69 mg/L and 3.61 ± 6.37 mg/L respectively (p=0.507); FFA level are 0.43 ± 0.24 mM and 0.37 ±0.47 mM respectively (p=0.379); Ox-LDL level are 66.14 ± 31.11 ug/mL and 66.09 ± 27.55 ug/mL respectively (p=0.991). The correlation analisis revealed that food consumption i.e. non-MTF and MTF have significant impact on waist circumference (r=0,642, p=0.000) and adiponectin (r=0.649, p=0.000); but not with hsCRP (r=0.003; p-0.97), free fatty acids (r=0.073, p=0.379), as well as oxidized LDL (r=0.001, p=0.991). Conclusion: These results might indicate that Mollucas Traditional Food (MTF) provide better protective value than non-MTF through adiponectin level and body weight instead of inflammation (hsCRP) and lipid (FFA and oxLDL) mechanisms.

Technical and Financial Feasability Analysis of Mangrove (Bruguiera gymnorrhiza) Starch Production in West Seram District, Maluku Province

The hypocotyls of Bruguiera gymnorrhiza have a high carbohydrate content, but have not been widely used as a staple food. An alternative use for Bruguiera gymnorrhiza hypocotyls is for the manufacture of starch. In addition to seeking new sources of starch for modern food industry. The research method used a completely randomized factorial design with three replicates and 2 treatment factors: NaHSO 3 concentrations of 0.10%. 0.20%. 0.25% and 0.40% and temperatures of 40°C, 50°C and 60°C. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS version 16.0. The best treatment was determined using the De Garmo method. The results show that the best results were obtained from the treatment with a heating time of 5 minutes at 60 ° C with 0.40 % NaHSO3 concentration, producing 21.35 % amylose content, 64.30 % starch content, a viscosity of 40.33 %, 89.99 % solubility and 0.16 % monosaccharide content. a required investment of IRD. 88,550,000. The Net Present Value (NPV) analysis returned a figure of 90,011,325. The Internal Rate of Return (IRR) analysis gave a value of 46.81 %. The Payback Period (PP) analysis shows that the initial investment could be recouped within a period of 4 years and 3 months. The B/C ratio was 1.1. Based on the investment criteria analysis, it would be viable to establish this industry in West Seram District.
