The aim and scope of this journal, as stated in the first issue, is to be a frontrank international medium for communication in the broad field of immunity and covering all aspects of the relationship between the immune system and microbial infections. Articles should cover the study of both immunity and infection, their interconnection, and wider implications. The editors hope to appeal to a multidisciplinary readership, including clinicians, immunologists, pediatricians, medical microbiologists, pathologists, epidemiologists, and pharmacologists. Twenty countries are represented by authors in the first six issues, with only 18 articles from the United States. The editorial board is composed of distinguished scientists, although several do not have credentials in infectious diseases.
