The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the level of education on employment status and wages, which are labor market outcomes. In order to achieve this purpose, the analysis data used the data from the 1st, 3rd, and 6th to 12th years of the 2005 panel survey data of the Korean Education Longitudinal Study. In data analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, ordinal logistic regression analysis, binomial logistic regression analysis, and regression analysis based on Mincer's wage function were performed using the STATA 17.0 program, and treatment probability weighting techniques were used to correct for selection bias. The main results of the study are as follows. First, parents' socio-economic background has a major influence on determining an individual's final level of education. Second, rather than the level of education, gender, such as male and female, affects whether an individual is employed, which is one of the labor market outcomes. Third, the level of education has a major impact on the wages of workers, and this wage premium effect still exists even after adjusting for the selection bias according to the parents' social and economic background, which affects the final level of education. Fourth, factors that are highly likely to change after joining the company, such as years of experience and individual competency, also have a major impact on workers' wages. Based on these conclusions, suggestions and practical implications for follow-up studies were presented.
