Design and Construction of Voice Controlled Home Automation using Arduino

System automation has been widely researched in the twenty-first century due to its essential role in daily life. The fundamental advantage of an automated system is its ability to reduce human stress and minimize errors. Over the past few years, there has been a swift shift from traditional switches to switches equipped with remote controls. Currently, the presence of conventional wall switches distributed around the house poses challenges in terms of use, especially for individuals who are elderly or have physical disabilities. Due to technological advancements, mobile smartphones are now affordable for all individuals. Android devices are becoming equipped with applications that aid in multiple ways. Another new technology is the Google speech recognition APIs, which enable voice-based system command and control. This study demonstrates the implementation of voice-controlled home automation using the Arduino Uno microcontroller. Users of this system will be able to exercise full authority over every domestic device through spoken commands. The control circuit consists of an Arduino Uno microcontroller that receives and interprets voice commands from an Android smartphone equipped with the corresponding application. While the Bluetooth module shares signal data after establishing a wireless link between the microcontroller and the smartphone, the relay regulates device switching.

Home appliances like fans and lights can be controlled. The fundamental purpose of this project is to control electronic appliances based on the situational demands of the user.

Voice controlled home automation, security system and virtual joystick-controlled robot for patients in home quarantines

The threat of COVID-19 is increasing by the day, while those who are infected must quarantine immediately. Since the disease is lethal and spreads by direct or indirect human contact, it is critical to disinfect all contact surfaces on a regular basis. Since continual direct exposure to chemicals promotes antibiotic resistance, it is less likely to be considered as a long-term solution. As COVID-19 had such a negative impact on people’s health, even regular commuting inside the house became a difficult and time-consuming activity for a variety of reasons, including the fact that the person is isolated alone and has a strong inclination to leave things neglected. This paper consists of a quarantine home automation system that allows the user to remotely turn on and off the appliances in the room as well as monitor the temperature in the rooms. The proposed system has incorporated an intruder alarm system, which sends notifications to the user’s mobile phone whenever some unexpected movement is detected near the entrance. The entire system is voice-enabled, which means that instead of completing the work manually, the user may give Alexa the directions. The quarantine home automation system also includes a robot that can be operated by the user virtually using the joystick present in the common user interface.

The aim of home automation is to make our lives easier and to improve the quality of life. The concept of Smart Homes builds on the progressing maturity of areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. Here, natural language processing (NLP) plays a vital role since it acts as an interface between human interaction and machines. Through NLP users can either command or control devices at home even though disabled persons command or request varies from presets. An application area of AI is Natural Language Processing (NLP). Voice assistants incorporate AI using cloud computing and can communicate with the users in natural language. Voice assistants are easy to use and thus there are millions of devices that incorporate them in households nowadays. Our project aims at providing a fully automated voice based solution that our users can rely on, to perform more than just switching on/off the appliances. The user sends a command through speech to the mobile device, which interprets the message and sends the appropriate command to the specific appliance. The primary objective is to construct a useful voice-based system that utilizes AI and NLP to control all domestic applications and services and also learn the user preferences over time using machine learning algorithms.

It leads to wastage of electricity and power. In modern era power consuming is more important and needed one. This project helps us to ON or OFF the electrical appliances through remote process in remote place. People in their workplace they can control the home gadgets using this system. Everyone has a mail service nowadays every apps requires mail authentication. The mail has its own assistant called google assistant through this assistant we can control the appliances by speech recognition famously called voice recognition or through text in assistant. Electrical appliances are connected by Relay and connected to the network to access it in remote place. For our every command in google assistant it gives us a reply of what is the status. We can set the commands to perform those operations. Only for those specific commands it will perform actions.

Design Of A Voice Controlled Home Automation System Using Deep Learning Convolutional Neural Network (DL-CNN)

The purpose of this research is to design home automation system that can be controlled using voice commands. This research was conducted by studying other research related to the topics in this research, discussing with competent parties, designing systems, testing systems, and conducting analyzes based on tests that have been done. In this research voice recognition system was designed using Deep Learning Convolutional Neural Networks (DL-CNN). The CNN model that has been designed will then be trained to recognize several kinds of voice commands. The result of this research is a speech recognition system that can be used to control several electronic devices connected to the system. The speech recognition system in this research has a 100% success rate in room conditions with background intensity of 24dB (silent), 67.67% in room conditions with 42dB background noise intensity, and only 51.67% in room conditions with background intensity noise 52dB (noisy). The percentage of the success of the speech recognition system in this research is strongly influenced by the intensity of background noise in a room. Therefore, to obtain optimal results, the speech recognition system in this research is more suitable for use in rooms with low intensity background noise.

Automation is a trending topic in the 21st century making it play an important role in our daily lives. The main attraction of any automated system is reducing human labour, effort, time and errors due to human negligence. With the development of modern technology, smart phones have become a necessity for every person on this planet. Applications are being developed on Android systems that are useful to us in various ways. Another upcoming technology is natural language processing which enables us to command and control things with our voice. Combining all of these, our paper presents a micro controller based voice controlled home automation system using smartphones. Such a system will enable users to have control over every appliance in his/her home with their voice. All that the user needs is an Android smartphone, which is present in almost everybody’s hand nowadays, and a control circuit. The control circuit consists of an Arduino Uno microcontroller, which processes the user commands and controls the switching of devices. The connection between the microcontroller and the smartphone is established via Bluetooth, a widespread wireless technology used for sharing data.
