Composition of Anthems: Lessons from Kabarak University Anthem Creation and Experience

Anthems play a major role in upholding the motto, mission, and vision of institutions, organisations, and countries all over the world pride in their national anthems. Principles and conscious or unconscious conventions are observed in the creation and interpretation processes of the performance of anthems across many cultures. Therefore, with time, anthems have become not just national emblems but rather very special patriotic music compositions that have demanded deep thought processes, reflection and careful consideration of specific procedures and techniques in composing them. This study set out to illuminate historical contexts, philosophies and ideologies that informed the creation of the Kabarak University (KABU) anthem; examine the role played by key stakeholders and players; articulate institutional and academic dynamics, shared experiences, team spirit, negotiations and consensus that dictated and guided the creative process of KABU-anthem project. The authors analyse compositional techniques and textual organisation to establish various musical intersections crucial in shaping the nature, form, style, and textual themes of KABU-anthem. The article discusses the processes of approvals, rehearsals, awareness, commissioning and premiere performances of the KABU anthem; and, finally assesses the level of perception and reception of the KABU anthem by the community of KABU. Besides drawing on crucial information from authors' experiences as composers and musical arts education practitioners, the discussions in the paper were guided by thoughts from related literature and Google survey structured interviews. The paper aims to provoke further discourse and interest in the music composition and songwriting creative processes.

THE EXTENT OF STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP, ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE, CONSENSUS STRATEGY AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY PLANS AT GOVERNMENT INSTITUTIONS IN TIMOR LESTE

The Strategic Plan for Development in Timor Leste is one such documentlong-term development strategy plans for various prioritized sectorseveryfive years, and for the preparation of the state budget every year. Onthe initial implementation of the development strategy plan all government agencies refer toon the document, but because of the change of government, and there is no consensusat the political level, it has an impact on conflicting party-political interestspower, and considers that the 2011-2030 PED document does not reflectThe National Development Strategy Plan is good, and therefore it was not usedas a reference for planning the budget and costs of the state of Timor Leste. Strategic management studies that determine the success or failure of a strategic plandevelopment in its implementation is inseparable from several determining factors namelytop leadership in government agencies, it is necessary to establish organizational commitment,the creation of an organizational culture and one of the important factors is the existence of a commonalityunderstanding of the development strategy plan is the presence of strategic consensusso as to ensure the implementation of development strategy plans in various sectorsin accordance with the functions of existing government agencies in Timor Leste. Strategy implementationis part of the management strategy which also includes strategy formulation andplan control. Strategic management is seen as a set of decisions andactions designed to achieve an organizations mission, vision, strategy, and strategic goals.Strategy implementationseen as an important part of strategic management because it is seen asthe process that transforms the formulated strategy into actions that ensure the visionand the mission of the organization is achieved as planned.The researchers focused on the Extent of Strategic Leadership,Organizational Commitment, Organizational Culture, and Consensus Strategy AgainstAchievements of the Development Strategy Plan for Government Agencies in Timor Leste.

What do We Know about Vision? A Sustainability Lens

Given the paucity of knowledge on sustainability-related organizational vision, the present study’s objective is to examine the current state of the organizational vision knowledge base with a sustainability focus. It adapts the Integrated Systematic Literature Review approach. Five hundred and four journal articles from Scopus between 1981 and October 2022 are identified and reviewed. Influential journals, scholars and documents concerning organizational vision in the sustainability context are identified, along with four schools of thought on Organizational Vision: Vision Component, Vision Motivation, Transformational Vision and Educational Vision. Overall, findings suggest that organizational vision scholars have focused their efforts on organizational vision in a way that leads to organizational productivity as opposed to sustainability productivity. This knowledge gap is fundamentally critical for sustainability scholars and practitioners alike since (a) organizational culture with vision as a core component is a pre-condition for sustainable enterprise development and (b) sustainability transformations are fundamental changes in cultures that move socio-technical systems toward sustainable production and consumption. Drawing from the identified body of knowledge, a model linking organizational vision and sustainability-related organizational performance is derived as a major contribution of the present study. The model explains how vision components theoretically lead to improved sustainability performance, followed by theoretical, empirical and practical implications as significant contributions to the field of corporate sustainability.

Transformational leadership and job performance of Maldives Civil Service employees, mediated by organisational commitment

PurposeEmerging research on public administration theory has highlighted the need for public sector managers to become better leaders by inspiring and motivating them to align themselves with their organisation's mission and vision. Therefore, transformational leadership has become increasingly appealing in public administration. This study investigates how transformational leadership affects the job performance of those in the Maldives' civil service. Furthermore, it tests the mediation effect of organisational commitment on the relationship between transformational leadership and the job performance of those working in the Maldives' civil service.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopted a quantitative and cross-sectional design to collect data from 370 employees from different Maldives civil service offices. Data were collected through an online questionnaire, and structural equation modelling was used to test the hypotheses. The mediating effect was tested using bootstrapping.FindingsThe results reveal that transformational leadership did not significantly affect job performance. While a mediation effect was present, the effect size was within a small range.Originality/valueThe results of this study has important implications for the Maldives' civil service from a human resource management perspective and provides insights to policymakers on how to improve leadership in Maldives' civil service institutions. Furthermore, this study contributes significantly to the existing research in understanding the effect of transformational leadership on public sector organisations in Asia and from a developing country's perspective.

Sustainable marketing activities, event image, perceived value and tourists’ behavioral intentions in the sports tourism

PurposeThis study constructs the influence mechanism model of sustainable marketing activities (SMAs), event image, commemorative product perceived value and tourists’ behavioral intentions (TBIs) in the sports tourism context of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games. Additionally, the article discusses the role of event image and product perceived value in enhancing the SMAs’ effect on TBIs.Design/methodology/approachThe research analyzed 315 valid questionnaires from tourists in the Chinese market by structural equation modeling.FindingsThe results indicate that SMAs positively impact sports tourism event image, tourists’ perceived commemorative product value and TBIs. Meanwhile, event image and product perceived value mediate the SMAs and TBIs relationship.Research limitations/implicationsConsidering SMAs as essential for sustainable development, this paper contributes to the strategic management discipline. Additionally, the research expands the analysis of event image and product perceived value in the brand theory and customer behavior research.Practical implicationsThe article outlines the principal value of SMAs implementation in enhancing behavioral intentions. It also reveals that a favorable event image and good perceived value can enhance SMAs’ effectiveness toward positively influencing TBIs, especially purchase intentions. It provides a new vision for nonprofit organizations to prioritize SMAs’ implementation in marketing strategies.Originality/valueIt is pioneering work with a complex research framework for SMAs implementation in the sports tourism context.

Curriculum Management In Kapau Islamic Boarding Schools

The problem in this study is related to the process of managing the curriculum and organizing the curriculum at Kapau Islamic Boarding School which has not been well planned, the level of supervision over curriculum management at Kapau Islamic Boarding School is still low. The purpose of this research is to look at curriculum management at Kapau Islamic Boarding School. This research is in the form of qualitative description. The research was conducted at the Islamic Boarding School Tarbiyah Ilamiyah Kapau Tilatang Kamang Kab. Agam. The techniques used to collect data in this study are observation, documentation, interviews. The results of the study show that Curriculum Management at Kapau Islamic Boarding School goes through a process or framework, which involves all institutional structures at Kapau Islamic Boarding School which are guided by the vision and mission of education, curriculum components, curriculum organization, curriculum implementation and control of curriculum implementation. Implementation of the curriculum at Kapau Islamic Boarding School uses two curriculum models, namely the madrasah curriculum which refers to the curriculum of the Ministry of Religion, and a special cottage curriculum for cottage lessons. The two curricula run separately in the education system at Kapau Islamic Boarding School. The madrasah curriculum is systematized, has documents and develops with reference to Islamic education curriculum standards from the Ministry of Religion, while the pondok (religious) curriculum refers to the teaching of kiyai/sheikh and does not have written curriculum documents using yellow books. So that the implementation and organization of the curriculum at Kapau Islamic Boarding School integrates one subject with another

Mughas: the Integrated Green Hrm Model to Improve Business Performance

Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the implementation an eco-friendly model in the company's human resource management practices. Theoretical Framework: The Green HRM Policies, Specific Wings of Green HRM, and MUGHAS Integrated Green Human Resource Management are the three of main organizational constructs that are introduced in this study to examine their contribution and impact to the human resource management performance. Design/Methodology/Approach: The study uses qualitative methods to obtain the necessary data using in-depth interviews. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling and snowball sampling. The data analysis starts from broke data into several categories, synthesizing, analyzing, and concluding. Findings: The results of integrated green HRM model implementation are: 1) reduced costs, 2) improved resource efficiency, 3) reduced carbon footprint, 4) improved environmental performance, 5) improved corporate image, and 6) employees are more environmentally conscious. The procedures for implementing this integrated green HRM model are based on an evaluation management system (EMS), green intellectual capital (GIC), and corporate environmental citizenship (CEC). The effective green HRM model implementation plays a critical role in organizational performance. Research, Practical & Social Implications: The study of green HRM model implementation process gives some practical and social implication includes the organization's vision and mission, commitment to providing eco-friendly technology, providing infrastructure for all stakeholders. In addition, empirical research must accurately depict the Green HRM extent implementation in human resource management practices, especially in Indonesia. Originality/Value: The value of the study is MUGHAS integrated green HRM model implementation aims to change the direction of employee behavior to be more environmentally friendly to impact the progress of sustainable business practices in creating awareness of the company's human resources. Implementing green human resource management will encourage increased ability to create, increase competence, and maintain environmentally friendly morals for each employee.

What Do We Know About Balanced Scorecard and Its Benefit? A Systematic Literature Review

This study aims to systematize articles on Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and the benefit of its adoption in various organizations and business entities. Using a systematic literature review, this study reviews 60 articles published in international reputable journals between 2003 and 2022. The articles were found using keywords such as ‘balanced scorecard’, ‘BSC’, and ‘BSC implementation’ in the Emerald, Elsevier, Sage Journals, and Scopus databases. The search was restricted by the language and scope of the research. The results show that BSC facilitates the improvement of organization performance, the achievement of organizational goals and vision, the outlining of strategies into action, the measurement of performance, the management of risk and the decision-making process.

Understanding the personality of Europe’s only world surfing reserve

PurposeThis study aims to uncover the destination personality of the World Surfing Reserve (WSR) in Europe, Ericeira, from local stakeholders’ perspectives; understand if WSR recognition influences the perception of destination personality; and understand if there is an alignment between the vision of the destination management Organization (DMO) and stakeholders in terms of destination personality.Design/methodology/approachAn extensive literature search was conducted to identify personality traits, which were then filtered and included in a survey of Ericeira's stakeholders and in a DMO interview. A principal components analysis enabled the identification of the most relevant personality traits.FindingsCool, appealing and self-assured emerged as destination-specific personality traits of Ericeira, indicating that other similar destinations can consider them in future branding actions. The findings indicate that WSR recognition can be a determinant for local tourism but has no impact on destination personality as viewed by local stakeholders. Therefore, one can suggest that personality is embedded in a tourist destination and is somewhat resistant to external WSR recognition. In general, alignment was found between the views of the local stakeholders and the DMO.Originality/valueThis study reinforces the literature on the importance of stakeholder involvement in place brand development. It also suggests that external recognition may have an impact on local tourism but has a limited impact on destination personality. Finally, this research constitutes a baseline for further studies on the destination personality traits of current and prospective WSR.

Analysis of Factors Causing Employee Performance in Health Service Sector

People are important resources for the achievement of the vision and mission of the company's organization as a whole. HR development is the process of making employees better and better able to help a company achieve its goals. This study aims to test and analyze "Analysis of Factors Causing Employee Performance in the Healthcare Sector". The sample used in this study was 150 respondents who worked in health services. Testing was carried out using SEM analysis. The results of this study support the hypothesis that Employee Competence has a positive effect on Employee Performance, Work Motivation has a positive effect on employee performance, There is an influence of employee competence on employee performance with work motivation as an intervening variable. This research produces implicit results for owners and management of Health Services to improve Employee Performance by paying attention to and increasing Employee Competence and Work Motivation.

According to the vision of the World Health Organization, spirituality is an integral part of human existence. Spirituality is even seen as an all-encompassing essence of the human being that requires appreciation and respect. Spirituality is closely linked to the search for meaning, the sense of connection and the feeling and experience of belonging. The article explores the question of whether and how it is possible to teach and learn spiritual care when one is ‘not spiritual’ oneself. The case study, based on the student’s self-reflection, is theoretically inspired by Ricoeur’s theory of narrative meaning-making and a search for explanations of life issues. It is a visual-textual case study, which also explains the appropriateness of the chosen method of self-reflection and analysis for recording and making sense of emotional-social-relational experiences.

Developing a Constructive Mobile Application Tool for the Systematic Delivery of Work-based Training Components Associated with the Enhancement of Labour Performance and Productivity in Construction

Various sources highlight that the ineffective work-based training methods in construction site procedures have been the primary cause for the construction firms experiencing labour skill shortages in many developing countries like Sri Lanka. This study attempts to investigate developing mobile application tools for systematically applying work-based training practices, performance evaluation methods and grading mechanisms in the practices on construction sites for labourers. With the aid of problem-focused and action-oriented communication techniques, a comprehensive study methodology was adopted through a sequential procedure, including literature studies, expert discussions/reviews and mobile application development practices. The study approach specifically lays a mechanism linking with efficacious/valuable models and systems offered in recent studies. The study findings display the sketches of user interface visual designs and data flow procedures for integrating the labour training components through mobile application tools within a constructive mechanism. Importantly, labour performance, labour grading/classification and labour productivity levels have been emphasised as the major units of analysis in the application of the proposed mechanism and tools. The validity and reliability of the proposed mechanism and tools were ensured using comprehensive approaches. The study opens a new window to implement constructive approaches, innovative practices and operational systems linking with organizational vision and mission elements within the direct scope of productivity and performance improvement in the direction of expanding the industrial and institutional linkages nationally and internationally towards the economic recovery, social development and sustainability of a nation. Though the study findings directly contribute to the construction sector of developing countries like Sri Lanka, the study outcomes may create considerable impacts in other developing industry sectors within a similar scope.

Solidaritas Organisasi Fatayat Tulungagung Perspektif Kurt Bayertz

Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama as a young women's organization that seeks to provide answers to issues that consider women unable to contribute to society, for these problems Fatayat seeks as a dressing room for women to channel real abilities in society, with the Fatayat organization, women in society are considered capable in various activities religiously, socially, economically, politically and culturally. This study aims to determine the solidarity movement of the Fatayat organization through the perspective of Kurt Bayertz solidarity. This research is of a qualitative descriptive type. Research data were obtained through interviews, observations and documentation. Data analysis uses data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that Fatayat's activities can be said to be the embodiment of the solidarity movement. Fatayat solidarity is described as universal solidarity, social solidarity, citizen solidarity and political solidarity. Fatayat solidarity relevant to Kurt Bayertz solidarity includes (1) Universal solidarity arises because of the bonding of the organization's vision and mission and is followed by all internal and external parties. (2) Social solidarity occurs due to social relations with external parties. (3) Citizen solidarity is formed by spontaneity such as fundraising and disaster care activities. (4) Political solidarity occurs with external recognition of the existence of Fatayat NU.

ANALYSIS PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT USING BALANCED SCORECARD METHOD AT PERSAHABATAN HOSPITAL, EAST JAKARTA

The Balanced Scorecard can translate the organization's vision and mission into operational objectives and measure performance from four perspectives: finance, customers, internal business processes, and learning growth. The purpose of this study was to measure the performance of Persahabatan Hospital using the Balanced Scorecard method. This study used qualitative methods with secondary data published by Persahabatan Hospital in 2020 and 2021 and interviews with informants. The results show that from a financial perspective, the hospital's income growth indicator has increased by 19.67%, and the ROA indicator increased by 0.41%. From a customer perspective, the hospital has seen an increase of 26.5%. From the internal business process perspective, it has been said to be good because it is in line with the vision and mission of Persahabatan Hospital. From a learning growth perspective, employee retention decreased by 25%. These four perspectives of the Balanced Scorecard have a significant impact on hospital performance. The hospital needs to improve service quality by increasing customer acquisition to increase revenue to produce a good performance.

O Endomarketing na Gestão do Capital Humano: Prespetiva preliminar no contexto do Quadrilátero Urbano do Minho (Portugal)

Purpose: The present study (of exploratory nature) aims to understand the importance of endomarketing in organizations and whether internal strategies are essential in human capital management. The study context is the Minho Urban Quadrilateral (i.e. Braga, Barcelos, Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão). Methodology: In a first phase, a documental analysis is exposed in order to delimit the object of study, and later, the general results are presented based on the interviews carried out to professionals and specialists of the Human Resources sector, being present a methodology of qualitative nature. Findings: Based on the literature review and the interviews conducted, it can be concluded that organizations consider that the implementation of endomarketing tools are very important and capable of generating mutual benefits between the employer and the worker. In this sense, they assume that it is a strategic and reinforcing resource for building mutual relationships, and capable of fostering a harmonious organizational climate. Research implications: From a theoretical perspective, the study contributes to the development of knowledge in matters of endomarketing and the management of people (human capital). Originality: The study presents preliminary insights that can be an auxiliary tool for HR managers and professionals working in the four cities of the Quadrilateral (Braga, Barcelos, Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão). In an interdisciplinary perspective, the study contributes to the joint development of the areas of endomarketing (e.g. understanding the vision of organizations) and also allows establishing future guidelines for these areas of action. Learning strategic orientation and sustained competitive advantage in four- and five-star hotels in Kenya

Four- and five-star hotels face intense competition from lower-rated hotels, international chains and the more recent vacation home rentals, often threatening their competitive advantage. This study explored the influence of learning strategic orientation on sustained competitive advantage in four- and five-starhotels in Kenya.The target population was 640 senior hotel managers from 80 four-and five-star hotels and a five-point Likert scale survey instrument which was completed by 247 respondents.Data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling and the analysis indicated that learning strategic orientation had a positive and significant influence (p<0.05) on sustained competitive advantage in four- and five-star hotels in Kenya. The study recommends considering training as an investment and budgeting resources for continuous staff training. Hotel management should share the organizational vision across all levels and constantly share information about competitors. Policymakers should support hospitality institutions, training of interns and exposure of local hoteliers to the international market.

Ophthalmological results in the Hungarian comprehensive health care screening program, 2011-2022

The World Health Organisation's VISION 2020 and World report on vision programs prioritize blindness prevention and vision rehabilitation development. The ophthalmology program, which is part of Hungary's comprehensive health care screening program, plays an important role in the national implementation of these. Summary of the results of Hungary's comprehensive health care screening program's ophthalmology program, which has been going on for 12 years. The ophthalmological data of 168522 people aged between 12 and 99 years who participated in the national screening program were analyzed in nine categories: the presence of eye disease, the use of glasses, the refractive power of the glasses, refractive errors (myopia, anisometropia), the functional vision questionnaire, dry eye, colour vision, educational and communication activities. 18.1% of the participants reported having an eye disease, which was much more common in women and the elderly. The proportion of people who wore glasses reached 66%, with roughly one-third of them lacking appropriate glass strength. Myopia was the most common (58.7%) in people aged 18 to 35. Anisometropia was found in 6.5% of people. Women were more likely than men to have dry eyes (26.1%). Men had a higher rate of colour vision deficiency (5.7%) than women (0.7%). As blindness is 80% preventable, national screening tests and comprehensive educational activities that contribute to the early detection and treatment of eye diseases are important. It is critical to call attention to the significant growth in the prevalence of myopia in young people as well as the urgent need for the effective implementation of preventive measures. The importance of proper glasses must also be brought to the attention of the general population because incorrect glasses cause visual problems. The national ophthalmology screening and educational activity should be continued in the future, with the goal of reducing the incidence of eye diseases associated with visual impairment and increasing the proportion of people who wear appropriate glasses. To stop the spread of myopia, a national preventive and treatment program should be launched. Orv Hetil. 2023; 164(7): 253-259.

THE INFLUENCE OF JOB DEMANDS AND JOB RESOURCES ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE AND JOB SATISFACTION AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING AS MODERATING VARIABLES

The definition of performance is a description of the level of achievement of the implementation of an activity program or policy in realizing organizational goals, vision and mission goals of the organization which are included through the strategic planning of an organization. This study used a population of 100 employees who had worked at PT Pramana Artha Raharja. The saturated sample technique was used in the research so that the final sample size was 100 respondents. Data analysis in this study used SmartPLS version 3.0.
 The results in this study of the variables job demands and job resources have no significant effect on job satisfaction, then the variables job demands and job resources have no significant effect on employee performance while the variable job satisfaction has no significant effect on employee performance. Then the knowledge sharing variable has no effect on moderating the relationship between job demands and job resources on employee performance

Whither the need and motivation for open government data (OGD) promotional strategies?

PurposeIt has been underscored in the extant literature that open government data (OGD) has not percolated across the length and breadth of any country, let alone the awareness of the OGD among the stakeholders themselves. In this vein, this study aims to underline the reasons as to why OGD promotion merits consideration apart from underlining the manner in which OGD promotion may be done.Design/methodology/approachBased on literature review on the OGD conceptual models and government promotion initiatives, the study further sketches an OGD model across four quadrants: beginners, followers, fast-trackers, trend-setters on the basis of the progress made in their OGD initiatives besides underlining the four elements of OGD promotional strategy as media, arena, substance and stakeholders. Also, the study explores the drivers and barriers to OGD promotional initiatives.FindingsThe study shows that across the OGD quadrants, the promotional strategies vary in terms of the 4As (acceptability, affordability, accessibility and awareness), and the same get reflected across MASS. Further, the drivers for OGD promotional initiatives are building citizens’ trust and forging stakeholder participation and collaboration in administration, thereby furthering transparency in administration, meeting the needs of the stakeholders, providing the desired impetus to value creation and innovation by the stakeholders and the need for furthering economic growth. Likewise, the barriers toward OGD promotion are linked with the lack of political will, lack of organizational leadership, mission and vision, lack of involvement of government departments, lack of budget and lack of requisite infrastructure for promotion.Originality/valueHitherto, OGD research has underscored the need to make the users aware of the potential of OGD initiative; however, no study has been undertaken to understand the manner in which the awareness may be driven among the users – the present study is a first step in this direction.
