Bekid platform: an environment to help combat bullying at school

In recent decades, the school environment has been the scene of several cases of violence. Among these, bullying attracts attention due to its negative impacts on the personal and educational development of students. In view of this, it is necessary to think of urgent solutions to help combat this type of problem. Technological advances and the innovative environment have provided the use of tools that can assist decision-making in the school community. Therefore, the objective of this work was to develop a web platform to help identify possible cases of bullying in the school environment. The bekid system connected several important functionalities, such as: sharing information about bullying, monitoring students over time, collecting information about emotions, generating reports and a management platform for the school. It is important to highlight some of the contributions of the application created: it allows students to get closer to the school, provides better conditions for reporting aggressions and requests for help, maintains the anonymity of those who report it and can be an initiative to break a cycle that is often perpetuated by silence. This system can serve as a starting point to support strategies for dealing with bullying. All of these measures aim to help students feel in a safe environment that is conducive to the development of their learning.

Pertimbangan Hakim dalam Penerapan Hukum Bagi Tindak Pidana Kekerasan yang Dilakukan Secara Bersama-Sama Terhadap Orang di Muka Umum

Criminal acts are behaviors in which a person has violated the provisions of the law and legal norms that apply in the community. One of the most prominent criminal acts today is ganging up. Ganging up is a crime committed by more than one person with the aim of beating or even killing their target. One case of ganging up is a case of violence that occurred in the Kauboke area, Kolhua Village, Maulafa District, Kupang City on Friday, November 13, 2020 at around 19.30 WITA. This study aims to analyze how the law is applied to violent crimes in decision Number 214 / pid.B / 2021 / PN.Kpg and the judge's considerations in imposing sanctions on the perpetrators in the decision of case Number 214 / Pid.B / 2021 / PN.Kpg. This research is an empirical legal research where the data used is obtained directly from the research location. This study uses interview guidelines with one informant, the data in this study is analyzed descriptively-qualitatively. The results of the study show: (1) The application of law and criminalization to the case with decision Number 214/Pid.B/2021/PN.Kpg has been carried out correctly. (2) The judge's considerations in imposing a sentence have been carried out correctly. The judge makes a decision by carefully considering various factors by looking at the various impacts on the victim and the defendant.

Kinerja Institusi DP3APPKB dalam Pelaksanaan Program Pelayanan Pusat Pembelajaran Keluarga Surabaya

Research related to the performance of the Department of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection as well as Population Control and Family Planning (DP3APPKB) in implementing the PUSPAGA Surabaya service program is an important thing to carry out considering that there are still high cases of child violence in Surabaya and the government of Surabaya must maintain its achievements as a Child Friendly City at a high level six times in a row. This research was conducted at DP3APPKB Surabaya. The purpose of this research is to determine, describe and analyze the level of organizational performance at the DP3APPKB Service in implementing the PUSPAGA Surabaya service program. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. The theory used is the theory of organizational performance according to Soesilo in Tangkilisan (2005) which includes organizational structure, management policies, human resources, management information systems and facilities and infrastructure. This research is related to the performance of the organization at DP3APPKB in implementing the PUSPAGA Surabaya service program. The results of this research indicate that the performance of DP3APPKB Surabaya in implementing the PUSPAGA Surabaya service program has been carried out quite well, because there are still several obstacles such as, PUSPAGA public halls not carrying out tasks or job desks in accordance with the division of the organizational structure, unequal distribution of human resources in providing services PUSPAGA Surabaya, especially for public halls that do not receive volunteer assistance from DP3APPKB Surabaya. Furthermore, most Surabaya residents do not know the use of the SIAP PPAK application which is used as a tool to measure the success of online consultation services and database management in implementing the PUSPAGA Surabaya service program. The facilities and infrastructure of PUSPAGA Surabaya are quite good and have followed the guidelines from the Ministry of PPA, but this does not apply to PUSPAGA public halls.

Evaluating the Effectiveness of South Africa’s Prevention of Domestic Violence Act in Reducing Gender-Based Violence in Cape Town

This study evaluates the effectiveness of South Africa’s Prevention of Domestic Violence Act (PDVA) in reducing gender-based violence in Cape Town. The research examines the key provisions and objectives of the PDVA, its impact on reported cases of domestic violence, and the roles of law enforcement and community organizations in its implementation. Despite increased reporting and awareness following the Act’s introduction, significant challenges remain, including resource limitations, training gaps, and societal attitudes that hinder effective enforcement. The study identifies gaps in public awareness and societal support as critical barriers to the PDVA’s success, suggesting that legal reform alone is insufficient without broader social and institutional changes. Recommendations are made to enhance law enforcement capacity, improve community support mechanisms, and strengthen public education initiatives to achieve a more comprehensive and effective response to domestic violence.

Іncrease in the number of sentences for commitment of family violence as an indicator of increase in the level of legal culture of the society

The article highlights the issue of the increase in the number of cases of domestic violence known to law enforcement agencies. Factors affecting the increase of legal awareness of citizens and encouraging them to take decisive actions for zero tolerance to various types of violence in families are analyzed in detail. We analyzed the changes in the legislation of Ukraine, which became the driving force for the fight against domestic violence, the protection of victims and the punishment of offenders. An important step for this was the introduction of amendments to the Criminal Code of Ukraine and the addition of Article 126-1 “Domestic violence”. At the same time, an important factor in the formation of public awareness of the inadmissibility of domestic violence is the activity of public organizations, public figures, the media community, and mass media. The trend of increasing the level of legal culture of the individual in terms of zero tolerance for the actions of offenders is being followed. Society increasingly does not tolerate violence and strives for justice. It also shows that the legal culture of the individual is growing, people respect the law more and more and understand the importance of human rights. The connection is investigated, according to which increasing the level of awareness of citizens about their rights and about the possibilities of protection against violence leads to an increase in the number of appeals to the police and restoration of their rights by legal means. It has been proven that people seek help more and more often, knowing that they have support from the state. The number of sentences contained in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions for domestic violence in the period 2020–2024 is analyzed. It has been studied that the increase in the number of sentences for committing domestic violence is directly proportional to the increase in the level of legal culture of the individual and society. This fact confirms the opinion, however, that domestic violence is gradually leaving the category of latent crimes and victims are no longer ready to put up with violence in families. It was concluded that the development of legal culture in this context means that people not only know about the inadmissibility of violence, but also realize the importance of observing laws and actively participating in the fight against this problem.

It centers on the film Mulan as a unique source of theological reflection in addressing cases of gender-based violence. The title, “The Body as a Battlefield,” encapsulates the core theme of this research, emphasizing the body as a contested terrain where power dynamics and societal norms converge. Through a meticulous feminist interpretation of the film, we explore how Mulan’s narrative challenges traditional gender roles, illuminates the resilience of the female body, and offers a fresh perspective on theological discourse. By bridging the realms of film analysis, feminist theology, and social justice, this study contributes to a deeper understanding of how popular culture can serve as a resource for theological engagement in the pursuit of gender equality and the eradication of gender-based violence.

The Police Practice of Resolving Domestic Violence in Fiji

Using the plural policing and Global South policing frameworks, this article examines police officers' actions when handling domestic violence (DV) cases in Fiji. Drawing on an empirical survey of 365 police officers, it discusses what police do when dealing with DV reports. The findings show, firstly, that the majority of police officers are aware of the zero-tolerance policy for DV. Secondly, the majority of police officers assert they do not implement the zero-tolerance policy when handling DV cases. Thirdly, police officers take DV cases seriously. Fourthly, officers say they encourage people to use traditional customary and religious ways of settling cases and proceed with further investigation and possible prosecution only if the victim insists. Theoretically, the findings show that police practise a plural policing method of resolving DV. The article empirically and theoretically contributes to the literature on plural policing of DV in Pacific Island countries.

Assessing risk indicators of intimate partner femicide considering victim's coping strategies to violence: A dynamic multilevel linear mixed model based on genetic algorithms

Intimate partner femicide (IPF) is a grave social and health concern affecting women worldwide, with approximately 30,000 deaths annually at the hands of their current or former intimate partners. Previous studies have focused on identifying risk factors for IPF and developing risk assessment tools to identify high-risk cases. However, an important aspect that has been overlooked in these studies is victims' coping strategies in response to intimate partner violence. Understanding victims' coping strategies can provide valuable insights into how they deal with the abuse and can inform the development of effective interventions and prevention strategies. This study aims to address this gap by developing a multilevel linear mixed model (LMM) to analyze the impact of engagement and disengagement coping on the likelihood of IPF and identify common and specific IPF risk indicators for these coping strategies. A total of 491 Spanish cases of violence against women by current or former intimate partners were analyzed from penal sentences issued by Spanish provincial and supreme courts from 2019 to 2022. The LMM model obtained from the study has competitive performance in identifying IPF and non-IPF cases, including risk indicators of prior history of injuries, history of sexual aggression, frequency and escalation of violence, physical violence, place of crime, lonely place of crime, and community presence. Victims with engagement coping and disengagement coping share some risk indicators, while others belong to just one category. Overall, the results suggest that victims with disengagement coping are more predisposed to suffer IPF than victims with engagement coping. This evidenced-based knowledge emphasizes the significance of considering coping strategies in predicting and preventing IPF, with further implications discussed at the end of this paper.

A RETROSPECTIVE COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF 'CODE WHITE' REPORTING IN A UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL ON THE EXTENT OF VIOLENCE IN HEALTHCARE SETTINGS

The objective of this study was to examine and contrast the incidence of violence reported by White Code in a university hospital in Turkey and to analyse the phenomenon of workplace violence in terms of related variables. The study included 477 cases of violence against health workers reported between 2018 and 2023. The data were collected using a complete census method. Descriptive statistics and a chi-square test were employed for the statistical evaluation. Results: The majority of those subjected to violence were doctors (69.6%). The emergency services were the setting in which violence was encountered most frequently (51.6%). It was observed that physicians were exposed to verbal violence more than other occupational groups. There was a difference between years according to the type of violence, and violence was mostly caused by miscommunication. Consequently, it would be beneficial to adopt a multidisciplinary approach to the evaluation of the consequences of violence on healthcare professionals.

ABORDAGEM AS MULHERES VÍTIMAS DE VIOLÊNCIA POR ENFERMEIRAS E ENFERMEIROS

Introduction: violence against women is a matter of public interest that transcends geographical, cultural, and socioeconomic boundaries. It is understood as any act or conduct that violates human rights, based on gender, that causes death, harm, or physical, sexual, psychological, or patrimonial suffering to women. Primary health care is the individual’s gateway to the network, thus the nurse must be trained to recognize possible cases of violence and effectively welcome women, to establish measures for prevention, promotion, and care for victims. Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of the approach taken by nurses in primary care to women victims of violence, seeking to identify practices and strategies that can be improved to offer comprehensive and welcoming care, to contribute to health promotion and coping with gender violence. Method: a study of a qualitative methodological approach, with an explanatory descriptive character, through an integrative review of the literature on national and international publications in representative journals in the field of nursing, indexed in the virtual database PubMed, LILACS e Medline, within the period delimited for this research, in the years 2019 to 2024. Discussion: the analyses highlighted the different types of violence against women, the need for primary care nurses to be trained to identify and welcome victims, as well as the obstacles encountered by the health class. Conclusion: the attributions of the Primary Health Care nurse are essential for the reception of women who are victims of violence, considering that they are the first professional to have contact with the victim and build a bond, which is essential for the victim to remain in the care network and disassociate themselves from the abuser.

The Impact of Household Debt on Domestic Violence (DV) Against Children in Indonesia

Financial difficulties within a household could contribute to cases of domestic violence (DV). This study investigates the correlation between household debt and occurrences of domestic violence towards children in Indonesia. The study employs a quantitative methodology, notably utilising multinomial logistic regression analysis. Evidence suggests that households with several forms of debt are more prone to exhibiting both psychological and physical domestic violence against children, in contrast to households without domestic violence. This association maintains its significance even after taking into account control variables, such as the age of the spouse, the level of education of the head of home, the spouse's level of education, the size of the household, the perception of domestic violence, the schooling status of the children, and the age of the children are statistically associated with psychological, physical, and both types of domestic violence against children. Policymakers should assess household loan repayment capacity to limit lending to those at risk of financial struggle, while the government should implement parental education programs to raise awareness of child abuse and encourage non-violent parenting techniques.

Knowledge and practice of health workers on sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender-based violence: Evidence from three municipalities in Senegal.

Adolescents in low- and middle-income countries face numerous developmental, sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) challenges, including exposure to multidimensional violence. Dealing with gender-based violence (GBV) is of great importance and health personnel are key players. The objective of this work was to study the knowledge and practices of health personnel on SRHR and gender-based violence in Guédiawaye, Kaolack and Kolda communities in Senegal. A descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study was conducted, which consisted of health professionals (general practitioners and specialists, nurses, and midwives) and community health workers (community relays, bajenu gox, matrons). All health facilities in the three communities were included. Data analysis consisted of univariate analysis and logistic regression modeling to investigate the factors associated with the knowledge and practice of health personnels. An alpha risk of 5% was taken. A total of 78 health professionals and 128 community actors were included in the study. More than half of the health personnel (56.3%) had good knowledge of policies, standards and protocols relating to sexual and reproductive health services for women (adolescents) and about 60% on conventions and laws. The level of knowledge was good among 51% of respondents and good practices among 54.9%. The factors associated with good knowledge were the municipality in which the profession was practiced, and the effects of training received in the social construction of gender. The factors associated with the practices were knowledge of policies, standards and protocols through training, training received in the provision of family planning services, and in medico-psychosocial management of cases of sexual violence. We conclude that the knowledge of stakeholders (health professionals and community health workers) about sexual and reproductive health and gender-based violence is important for better service provision and good management of cases of gender based violence.

Persepsi Terhadap Kekerasan Domestik Berdasarkan Sudut Pandang Religiusitas dan Peran Sosial

The city of Semarang is a city that is increasingly developing and is pursuing policies to become a decent, safe and livable city. However, cases of violence still occur and have even increased. The efforts made are to provide education and assistance to the community, with the hope of providing understanding and improving morals. The existence of the situation, the efforts of the City of Semarang to create a safe situation but it turns out that it still occurs and even the number of cases of domestic violence has increased, raising the question of how society perceives violence. When it is shown that most of the perpetrators are those closest to them, even their own parents, another question arises, namely whether society, especially, has learned and understood their social roles in the family, whether as father, mother, wife, husband, and/or other social roles. Coupled with the condition as an adult human being which should also be increasingly mature in terms of religiosity, this also raises the question of whether religiosity still has an influence on perceptions of domestic violence. The results of the research analysis show that the magnitude of the relationship between Religiosity and Social Roles and Perceptions of Domestic Violence has a correlation coefficient value of 0.542 with a sig value = 0.000, meaning that there is a very significant relationship between Religiosity and Social Roles and Perceptions of Domestic Violence so that the hypothesis is accepted. Meanwhile, the simultaneous contribution of Religiosity and Social Role to Perceptions of Domestic Violence is 29.4% and 70.6% determined by other variables

Sosialisasi Konsep 4P (Pray, Prediction, Preventif, dan Protection) Kepada Pelatih dan Calon Pelatih Cabang Olahraga Beladiri

The 4P concept is a new idea in the field of martial arts activities. This concept was born out of concern about cases of violence that occur among the community, especially women and children. The 4P concept must be understood by teachers, martial arts trainers and martial arts practitioners so that the public understands more about the importance of understanding the concept of self-defense as a whole and in general. Socialization activities for the 4P concept were carried out in several locations in two different cities. The main target of this activity is martial arts practitioners who teach martial arts activities directly. Activities are carried out in several locations with a time allocation of one day for each session. The total number of participants who took part in this socialization activity was 120 people, consisting of self-defense trainers and self-defense practitioners, divided into 3 different times. And the formulation of the problem in my thesis is How is the Law Enforcement Regarding Domestic Violence Based on Legislation, How is the Legal Protection for Wives Who Are Victims of Domestic Violence and How is the Legal Analysis of the Criminal Act of Committing Physical Violence in the Household Scope Committed by Husbands Against Wives in Decision Number 1329 / Pid.Sus / 2023 / Pn Mdn. The nature of the research in writing the thesis uses descriptive analysis, the type of research uses Normative law while the data collection method uses Library Research, and the type of data in this study uses Primary Data. Many settlements of domestic violence cases do not fulfill a sense of justice, especially for victims in the household. law enforcement in implementing protection for victims of domestic violence according to Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence is very much needed, especially domestic violence.The results of this study conclude that the occurrence of domestic violence shows the imbalance of the position of husband and wife in living a household life. Legal protection for victims of domestic violence according to Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence is very much needed because of all forms of violence, especially domestic violence.

Dentists' knowledge about domestic violence against women: A questionnaire-based study.

Dentists are the first healthcare professionals to identify cases of domestic violence and abuse (DVA) with head and neck injuries. The aim of this study was to assess dentists' knowledge regarding behavioral and physical findings in female victims of DVA. The study included 558 volunteer dentists who completed a two-part questionnaire designed to assess their knowledge and awareness of DVA against women. The first part of the questionnaire inquired about the participants' demographic data, including age, sex, specialty, and the duration of professional practice. The second part assessed 15 statements on a 5-point Likert scale, concerning both behavioral (5/15) and clinical aspects (10/15) of DVA. For each statement, if a minimum of 70% of respondents selected the same option, it was interpreted as being agreed upon by the participants. The level of statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Most of the participants were between the ages of 31 and 40 (29.1%). The study sample was predominantly female (70.4%), with 57.2% of the participants being married. The statement "Abused women tend to avoid eye contact" had the highest agreement rate (70.6%) for the behavioral assessments. However, the participants were mostly "undecided" on the remaining 4 statements in this section. In contrast, the agreement rate for 5 statements related to the clinical assessment of head, neck and intraoral injuries exceeded 70%. One-fifth of the behavioral assessment statements and half of the clinical assessment statements were negatively correlated with the age of the participants (p < 0.05). The findings of this study indicate that dentists can recognize and diagnose DVA symptoms to a certain extent. However, they may encounter difficulties in identifying the suspicious behavior that is indicative of DVA.

Private clinical psychologists’ role in evaluation and treatment of childhood sexual abuse: A mixed methods study

BackgroundPsychologists play a significant role in addressing sexual violence against children and adolescents (SVCA) in Brazil. Most literature focuses on the role of public service psychologists in the intervention, resulting in the need to explore the role private clinical psychologists’ (PCP) play in SVCA treatment. ObjectiveThe study aims to: 1) investigate a possible relationship between sociodemographic factors, professional profiles, beliefs about SVCA, and PCPs’ decision to report the abuse, and 2) understand the role PCPs play in evaluating, reporting, and treating cases of SVCA. Participants and settingThe study sampled Brazilian PCPs. The quantitative phase consisted of 409 psychologists, and the qualitative phase consisted of 8 psychologists. MethodsThe study used a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design to achieve its goals. The quantitative phase consisted of the Sociodemographic and Professional Questionnaire, Scenario 7, and the Sexual Abuse Belief Scale (SABS) measures. The qualitative phase consisted of individual semi-structured interviews. ResultsThe descriptive statistics and a binary logistic regression model illustrated factors increasing the likelihood of reporting SVCA by PCPs, including a history of treating confirmed sexual violence cases, taking a course on sexual violence, receiving SVCA information during undergraduate studies, having a master and doctoral degree, and having a single relationship status. The thematic analysis resulted in four themes: The definition of sexual violence, the selectivity of the cases, educational under-preparation, and the need to build a performance network. ConclusionPCPs require professional development to treatment SVCA, and schools of Psychology need to improve their curriculum regarding SVCA education.

The Judge's Paradigm In Deciding Criminal Cases Of Sexual Violence From A Victimological Perspective

Criminal acts of sexual violence are widespread in society, and the aim of the research is to study and analyze a decision. The research methods used by researchers are normative juridical with case, statutory, and philosophical approaches. The primary legal material is the Sexual Violence Crime Law and Decision Number 72/Pid.Sus/2023/PN.Bau. while secondary materials: books, journals, etc., the interpretation used is grammatical and systematic interpretation. The results of the research show that the paradigm used by the Panel of Judges does not have a victimology perspective, as evidenced by the statement expressed by the victim witness who explained that the defendant was not the perpetrator of a crime of sexual violence, while the actual perpetrator had been appointed by the victim witness based on the photo submitted by the Counselor. The law and the perpetrator are still at large, while the defendant was legally and convincingly found guilty of committing the crime of sexual immorality. Therefore, the Panel of Judges ignored the facts of the trial. Apart from that, the panel of judges did not interpret the victim's witness statement as a standalone piece of evidence as regulated in the Sexual Violence Crime Law. So the author's suggestion is that it is important for the judge to have the victim's perspective, in this case, what the victim said is information that must be acknowledged at trial and It is necessary to evaluate the panel that examined and decided the case.

Analisis Hukum Kasus Penembakan Pendeta Yeremia Zanambani dalam Perspektif Hak Asasi Manusia

This research aims to analyze in depth the shooting case of Pastor Jeremiah Zanambani from the perspective of law and human rights. In addition, the paper will also discuss the challenges in law enforcement in conflict areas, the social, political, and legal impacts of the shooting cases and provide policy recommendations to prevent the recurrence of state violence cases in the future. The research methods used in the legal analysis of the shooting case of Pastor Jeremiah Zanambani in a human rights perspective can include several key steps. First, the researcher will conduct a detailed case study related to the chronology of events, relevant facts, and social and political context in Papua. The social, political, and legal impact of the shooting of Pastor Jeremiah Zanambani is complex and multifaceted. From public trauma and mistrust, to rising political tensions, to major challenges in law enforcement, all of these aspects show the urgency of the need for reforms and new approaches to dealing with conflict in Papua.

Effect of Gender-Sensitive Training on Police Response to Domestic Violence in Colombia

Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of gender-sensitive training on police response to domestic violence in Colombia. Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: The study on the effect of gender-sensitive training on police response to domestic violence in Colombia found that such training significantly improved police officers' attitudes and responses towards domestic violence cases. Officers who underwent gender-sensitive training demonstrated enhanced empathy, understanding, and commitment to addressing domestic violence more effectively. The training led to a marked increase in the quality of police interventions, including better handling of sensitive situations and more appropriate legal actions. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Feminist theory, social learning theory &amp; organizational change theory may be used to anchor future studies on effect of gender-sensitive training on police response to domestic violence in Colombia. Implement regular refresher courses to reinforce the principles of gender-sensitive training. Make gender-sensitive training a mandatory component of police education and professional development. Policies should ensure that all police officers, regardless of their rank or role, receive this essential training to create a uniform standard of response to domestic violence.
