Based on the theory of thermal elasticity mechanics, a double-elastic beam model isdeveloped for transverse vibrations of double-walled carbon nanotubes with large aspectratios. The thermal effect is incorporated in the formulation. With this double-elastic beammodel, explicit expressions are derived for natural frequencies and associated amplituderatios of the inner to the outer tubes for the case of simply supported double-walled carbonnanotubes. The influence of temperature change on the properties of transverse vibrationsis discussed. It is demonstrated that some properties of transverse vibrations ofdouble-walled carbon nanotubes are dependent on the change of temperature.
