N-Propylcarbamothioyl benzamide complex of Bi(III) supported on superparamagnetic Fe3O4/SiO2 nanoparticles as a highly efficient and magnetically recoverable heterogeneous nanocatalyst for the one-pot synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones (DHPMs) via the Biginelli reaction

The N-propylcarbamothioyl benzamide complex of Bi(III) immobilized on silica coated Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles has been prepared as a highly efficient and recyclable heterogeneous nanocatalyst using simple processes for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones/thiones via a one-pot multicomponent condensation reaction of urea, aldehydes and β-dicarbonyl compounds under solvent-free conditions at 100 °C. The structural and magnetic properties of the nanocatalyst were characterized using various techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, vibrating sample magnetometery and elemental analyses. Also, this nanocatalyst can be easily recovered by a magnetic field and reused for subsequent reactions for at least five times without deterioration in catalytic activity.

Role of Cu2+ substitution on the structural and magnetic properties of Ni-ferrite nanoparticles synthesized by the microwave-combustion method

Ni1−xCuxFe2O4 (x=0.00, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20 and 0.25) nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by microwave-induced combustion process using urea as fuel. The structural and magnetic properties of the samples were determined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, N2 adsorption–desorption technique, vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM) and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The XRD study confirmed the formation of a single-phase of cubic spinel at low copper contents, whereas CuO is identified as a minor phase for x≥0.20. The crystallite size was found to be in the range 20–30nm. The FTIR spectra show two prominent bands, the broad band located at 582cm−1 corresponds to tetrahedral site and that at 400cm−1 was assigned to the octahedral site. Force constant was calculated for tetrahedral site and was found to be independent on x. The surface area analysis show microporous samples for x=0.00 and 0.05, whereas for x>0.05 the samples exhibited mesoporosity. The specific surface area was found to change with x.Mössbauer spectra measured at RT show a combination of ordered and superparamagnetic behaviors, whereas those collected at 20K elucidate the nature of the obtained phases and the role of Cu2+ substitution on cation distribution in the present system. Room temperature (RT) magnetization results showed that the saturation magnetization increases from 33emu/g for x=0.00 to 48emu/g for x=0.25, and this was attributed to the redistribution of Cu2+cations in the tetrahedral and octahedral sites.

Influence of Co2+ on structural and electromagnetic properties of Mg–Zn nanocrystals synthesized via co-precipitation route

Co-precipitation method was used to synthesize the nanoparticles of cobalt substituted zinc–magnesium ferrites having formula “Mg0.6−0.5xZn0.4−0.5xCoxFe2O4” where 0.00≤x≤0.25. Fabricated samples were annealed at 750°C for 6h. The cubic spinel structure of Mg0.6−0.5xZn0.4−0.5xCoxFe2O4 nanocrystals was confirmed by Fourier transformed infra-red (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Lattice parameter, crystalline size, cell volume, X-ray density, bulk density and porosity were also determined using XRD data. Lattice parameter exhibits overall decreasing trend (0.824–0.817nm) with cobalt content; it is due to the substitution of cobalt (having smaller ionic radii) with magnesium and zinc ions. Cation distribution among A and B sites were studied by FTIR spectrum. Vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM) was used to investigate magnetic properties of as prepared nanoparticles. Coercivity exhibits the inverse relation to crystalline size. Lowest value of coercivity (47.722Oe) was obtained for the sample having x=0.15. Dielectric constant, dielectric loss and dielectric tan loss were inversely related with the frequency.

Novel magnetically separable Fe3O4@ZnO/AgCl nanocomposites with highly enhanced photocatalytic activities under visible-light irradiation

A simple and large-scale method was applied for preparation of novel magnetically separable Fe3O4@ZnO/AgCl nanocomposites at a low temperature of 96°C in water. The prepared photocatalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM) techniques. Photocatalytic activities of the nanocomposites were investigated by degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under visible-light irradiation. The activities of the nanocomposites were enhanced by increasing the weight ratio of ZnO/AgCl to Fe3O4 up to 10 and then decreases. The degradation rate constant of RhB on the Fe3O4@ZnO/AgCl (1:10) nanocomposite is about 35-fold higher than that of the Fe3O4@ZnO nanocomposite. The activity of the nanocomposite increases with refluxing time up to 90min and then decreases. Furthermore, the degradation reaction over the nanocomposite without any thermal treatment was faster than those of the calcined samples. The trapping experiments showed that superoxide ions and holes have major influences on the degradation reaction. More importantly, the nanocomposite was successfully separated from the treated solution in four cycles by applying an external magnetic field.

Preparation and Characterization of Magnetic Rigid Polyurethane Foam Reinforced with Dipodal Silane Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Fe3O4@APTS/GPTS

In this study, a new class of magnetic rigid polyurethane foams (PUFs) has been fabricated by one-shot process. Dipodal silane-coated magnetic nanoparticles (DScMNPs) was used as the magnetic nanoparticle and synthesized by functionalization of iron oxide nanoparticles by the prepared dipodal silane based on 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTS) and γ-glycidoxypropyltrimetoxysilane (GPTS) via sol-gel method. The synthesized DScMNPs were used up to 8.0% in the rigid polyurethane foam formulation and prepared foams were characterized. The chemical structure of DScMNPs was confirmed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H NMR), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), respectively. Morphological, thermal and mechanical properties of the PU nanocomposites were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). Vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM) was also showed that the synthesized PU nanocomposites are super paramagnetic.

Designing casein-coated iron oxide nanostructures (CCIONPs) as superparamagnetic core-shell carriers for magnetic drug targeting.

Magnetic drug targeting is a drug delivery system applicable to cancer treatment. Coated magnetic particles, called carriers, are very useful for delivering chemotherapeutic drugs. In the present research, casein-coated iron oxide nanocarriers (CCIONPs) of core shell nanostructure have been described as being applicable to magnetic drug targeting. The structure, morphology, and composition of prepared magnetic nanoparticles were determined by analytical techniques like Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Electron diffraction (ED), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Zeta potential, Dynamic light scattering (DLS), Mossbauer and Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM)) and in vitro cytotoxicity analysis. Magnetization studies of CCIONPs conducted at room temperature using a vibrating sample magnetometer suggested their superparamagnetic nature as having a saturation magnetization (Ms) of 64 emu g−1 at an applied magnetic field of 5 kOe. The size of the magnetic polymeric nanoparticles was found to lie in the range of 73.9 ±0.36 nm, and the particles exhibited superparamagnetic behavior. The prepared particles could be used as a drug carrier for controlled and targeted drug delivery.

Structure and magnetic properties of Ni0.64Zn0.36Fe2O4 nanoparticles synthesized by high-energy milling and subsequent heat treatment

High energy ball milling and subsequent annealing were applied to synthesize nanocrystalline Ni0.64Zn0.36Fe2O4 ferrite from a powder mixture of pure metal Zn, Fe2O3 and NiO in an oxygen atmosphere. The structural and phase evolution of powder particles after different milling times were studied by X-ray diffractometry. The XRD results showed that a Ni–Zn ferrite was formed with some residual Fe2O3 by annealing a 30-h-milled sample at as low as 400 °C for 2 h. The average crystallite size of the 30 h-milled powder was estimated to be about 15 nm which grew to 21 nm after annealing at 500 °C for 2 h. TEM image showed an agglomerated state of particles for 30 h-milled powders. FT-IR analysis indicated two absorption bands in the Ni–Zn ferrite structure related to octahedral and tetrahedral sites, respectively, in the range of 400–600 cm−1. Thermogravimetric analysis showed a mass loss about 2 % for as-received powder mixture below 400 °C; after that, it was almost stable. The Ni–Zn ferrite formation mechanism was detected to be in three stages: oxidation of zinc, diffusion of ZnO in Fe2O3 and the formation of ZnFe2O4, and diffusion of NiO in ZnFe2O4 and the formation of Ni–Zn ferrite. Vibrating sample magnetometery results revealed that a saturation magnetization of the 30 h-milled sample was about 5 emu/g which increased to 16 emu/g after annealing at 400 °C due to a reduction in density of lattice imperfections and strain.

Facile one-step fabrication of magnetite particles under mild hydrothermal conditions

Hydrophilic magnetite particles for biological applications were synthesized by hydrothermal method in the presence of d-Glucose as both reducing and capping agent in a facile, one-step, low energy and environmentally friendly route. The role of d-Glucose as a reducing agent in the formation of magnetite particles under mild hydrothermal conditions has been investigated. The absence of d-Glucose results in the formation of hematite. The magnetite particles synthesized were characterized using powder X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy, High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscopy (HR-SEM), Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and Vibrating Sample Magnetometery (VSM). The influence of the quantity of d-Glucose used and the reaction duration on the formation of magnetite were studied. DLS and HR-SEM results show that the size of the particles was in nano- to micron range. The antioxidant potency of the particles was confirmed using DPPH assay, where 2,2- Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl was used as a source of free radicals. Hence the magnetite particles obtained could be considered for the use in various biological applications.

Temperature dependent structural and magnetic properties of Cerium substituted Co–Cr ferrite prepared by auto-combustion method

The effects of heat treatment on a nano-crystalline spinel ferrite with chemical formula CoCr0.04CexFe1.96−xO4 (x=0.06) were investigated in the present work. The sample was prepared by the auto-combustion method and then heat treated at 700–1200 °C for 8 h. The sample heat treated at these temperatures was investigated using thermo-gravimetric analyses and differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometery. The XRD patterns and IR spectra confirmed that the synthesized materials were of single phase at and above 900 °C. The average particle size was found to be in the range of 30.8–63.8 nm estimated by the Scherer formula. IR studies confirm two main absorption bands in the frequency range of 400–800 cm−1 arising due to the tetrahedral (A-site) and octahedral (B-site) stretching vibrations. The average grain size increased with the increase of temperature while distribution of particles became homogeneous as observed by scanning electron microscope. The saturation magnetization was increased gradually from 7.4 to 59.6 emu/g with the increase of temperature. The coercivity lies in the range of 248–811 Oe as a function of temperature. The obtained results suggest that the investigated materials may be potential candidates for high density recording media applications.

Photocatalytic activity of magnetically recoverable MnFe2O4/g-C3N4/TiO2 nanocomposite under simulated solar light irradiation

A magnetic nanocomposite composed of manganese ferrite (MnFe2O4), graphitic-carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and titanium dioxide-P25 (TiO2) was synthesized via chemical impregnation method. The as-synthesized nanocomposite (MnFe2O4/g-C3N4/TiO2) was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high resolution TEM (HR-TEM) elemental mapping, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-vis-DRS), photoluminescence (PL), B.E.T. surface area analysis, X-ray photo-electron spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM) techniques. The band gap of TiO2 was decreased after surface modification with MnFe2O4/g-C3N4. The photocatalytic activity was tested for the degradation of methyl orange (MO) dye as a model pollutant under simulated solar light irradiation. It was found that MnFe2O4/g-C3N4/TiO2 displayed excellent photocatalytic activity than that of g-C3N4, MnFe2O4 and MnFe2O4/g-C3N4. The enhancement in the photocatalytic activity was ascribed to the synergism between TiO2, g-C3N4 and MnFe2O4. VSM results revealed that ferromagnetism was retained in the nanocomposite (MnFe2O4/g-C3N4/TiO2) and it could be easily removed using an external magnet after the photo-reaction. Besides, the durability and stability of magnetic nanocomposite was tested by recycling experiments.

Low temperature preparation of a graphene-cobalt microsphere hybrid by borohydride-initiated reduction for enriching proteins and peptides.

A graphene-cobalt microsphere hybrid was prepared by the chemical reduction of a mixture containing graphene oxide and cobalt chloride. It was found that a little amount of potassium borohydride or sodium borohydride could initiate the hydrazine-reduction of the mixture at a low temperature of 80 °C. The structure of the material was investigated by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometery, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) techniques. The average size of the cobalt microspheres on graphene sheets was measured to be ∼590 nm. Magnetic investigations indicated that the graphene-cobalt microsphere hybrid exhibited ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature. In addition, the magnetic hybrid was successfully employed in the enrichment and identification of low-abundance proteins and peptides in combination with mass spectrometry.

The Effect of pH and Magnetic Field on the Fluorescence Spectra of Fluorescein Isothiocyanate Conjugated SPION- Dendrimer Nanocomposites

In this study, fluorescent dendro-nized magnetic nanoparticles (FDMNPs) with their unique pH sensitive nature were synthesized for biomedical applications. First, superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) were prepared by coprecipitation of F e +2 and F e +3 with N H 4 O H, and then modified by amino silane. Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer were coated on the SPION-APTS surface using Michel addition method and grew from generation 0.5 to 3. In the final step of synthesis, the reaction between isoslulfosyanic groups of fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) and amine terminal groups of DMNPs was lead to the formation of magnetic fluorescent nanocomposites. The FDMNPs were studied using Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), UV-visible spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, vibrating-sample magnetometery (VSM) ), zeta potential ,and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS). The size of SPIONs and FDMNPs were about 10 nm and 14 nm, respectively. The possibility of conjugating a large number of fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) molecules on the SPIONs together with high amount of magnetization saturation ,Ms (52 emu/g in our case) and other unique characteristics have nominated FDMNPs as a suitable candidate for biomedical applications.

Synthesis of highly ordered 30 nm NiFe2O4 particles by the microwave-combustion method

NiFe2O4 of 30nm average size was synthesized by microwave combustion and subsequent solid state reaction at 1273K. The materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction, TEM, vibrating sample magnetometery and Mössbauer spectroscopy. The microwave combustion produced materials were comprised chemically of ferrites and a smaller amount of hematite. The NiFe2O4 particles have the cubic spinel structure with crystallites of sizes less than 10nm, and were found to have low magnetization, and essentially no hysteresis loop; characteristics of superparamagnetism. Upon annealing at temperatures 973K and below, crystallite growth was accompanied by increase in both coercive field and magnetization. The coercive field was a maximum for the sample annealed at 973K. On the other hand, crystallite growth at higher annealing temperatures yielded mainly ferrites and improvement in soft magnetic properties. Mössbauer and magnetization measurements indicate that the fine NiFe2O4 particles produced at the annealing temperature of 1273K are in good chemical and magnetic order, excluding the spins arrangement at the surface of the particles which show spin glass-like behavior.

Investigation the Structural and Magnetic Properties of FINEMET Type Alloy Produced by Mechanical Alloying

In this research, FINEMET alloy with composition of Fe73.5Si13.5B9Nb3Cu1was produced by mechanical alloying from elemental powders. The effect of milling time on the magnetic and structural properties of alloy has been investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometery. The results showed that milling for 53 hr leads to the formation of Fe supersaturated solid solution which includes Si, B and Nb atoms with mean crystallite size of ~30 nm. The shift of the main peak of Fe to the higher angles indicated that Si and B atoms dissolve in the Fe solid solution, at primary stage of mechanical alloying, up to the 42 hr while Nb atoms dissolve at final stages. The magnetization of milled powder for 53 hr was 173.7 emu/g, almost the same as that of the melt-spun ribbon. In addition; the coercivity reached to 15.5 Oe after 53 hr of milling. The higher value of coercivity in mechanically alloyed samples is attributed to strains induce to the structure during milling and the lack of amorphous phase and exchange interaction between nanograins.

N-propylpiperazine sulfonic acid immobilized on Fe3O4 magnetic silica nanoparticles: an efficient and heterogeneous catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of 9H-xanthene or methylenediphenol derivatives under solvent-free conditions

The preparation of N-propylpiperazine sulfonic acid-functionalized Fe3O4-magnetic core–shell silica nanoparticles (Fe3O4/SiO2-Propyl-Pip-SO3H) as a new recoverable and heterogeneous nanocatalyst is described. The size, morphology and other properties of this catalyst were characterized using various techniques such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, elemental analysis, vibrating sample magnetometery and acid–base titration. Moreover, we have examined the catalytic activity of these nano-sized particles for one-pot, efficient and facile synthesis of biologically active 9H-xanthene or methylenediphenol derivatives via three-component condensation reaction of xylenol and aldehydes under solvent-free conditions at 120 °C. This method provides many advantages such as high yields of products, short reaction times, waste free and mild reaction conditions. Also, this nanocatalyst can be easily recovered by an external magnetic field and can be reused for this condensation five times in succession without considerable loss of its catalytic activity.

Fast separation and determination of erythromycin with magnetic imprinted solid extraction coupled with high performance liquid chromatography

In this paper a novel composite imprinted material based on poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) coated magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes was successfully synthesized using erythromycin as the template and methacrylic acid as the functional monomer. The magnetic carbon nanotube molecularly imprinted polymers (mag-MWCNTs-MIPs) were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometery (VSM) in detail. The results showed that a magnetic imprinted layer was coated steadily on the surface of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes. Experiments of adsorption dynamics, static adsorption and selective recognition were conducted to evaluate the adsorption performance. The results showed that the mag-MWCNTs-MIPs displayed rapid dynamic adsorption toward erythromycin, which only needed 30 min to achieve adsorption equilibrium with a maximum adsorption capacity of 31.07 mg g−1. The mag-MWCNTs-MIPs were applied, coupled with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), to quickly enrich and detect erythromycin from fish tissue samples with recoveries of 82.7–88.5%. The mag-MWCNTs-MIPs can not only be collected and separated quickly and easily by an external magnet, but also have outstanding mechanical properties and specific recognition toward erythromycin.

Magnetite Nanoparticles Immobilized Pectinase: Preparation, Characterization and Application for the Fruit Juices Clarification

AbstractIn this work, pectinase was immobilized on the surface of silica‐coated magnetite nanoparticles via covalent attachment. The magnetite‐immobilized enzyme was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X‐ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometery techniques. Response Surface Methodology using Minitab Software was applied for statistical designing of operating conditions in order to immobilize pectinase on magnetic nanoparticles. The optimal conditions were obtained at 30 °C and pH 5.5 with 42.97 μl pectinase for 2 h. The immobilization yield was 50.6% at optimized conditions. Compared to the free pectinase, the immobilized pectinase was found to exhibit enhanced enzyme activity, better tolerance to the variation of pH and temperature, and improved storage stability. Both free and immobilized samples reduced the viscosity of apple juice from 1.12 to 0.88 and 0.92 mm2s−1, respectively, after 30 min at their optimum temperature. Furthermore, the immobilized enzyme could be reused six consecutive cycles and the efficiency loss in viscosity reduction was found to be only 8.16%.

Structural and magnetic Properties of TbZn-substituted calcium barium M-type nano-structured hexa-ferrites

Effect of TbZn substitution on the structural and magnetic properties of Ca0.5Ba0.5−xTbxZnyFe12−yO19, (x=0.00–0.10; y=0.00–1.00) ferrites prepared by sol–gel auto combustion is reported. The synthesized samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and Vibrating Sample magnetometery. The X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed single phase M-type hexa-ferrite structure. The lattice parameters were found to increase as TbZn contents increases, which is attributed to the ionic sizes of the implicated cations. The TbZn seems to be completely soluble in the lattice. The results of scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy shows that the grain size decreases with increase of TbZn substitution. The coercivity values (1277–2025Oe) of all samples lies in the range of M-type hexa-ferrite and indicate that an increase of anisotropy was achieved by substitution of TbZn, while the size of nanoparticles was drastically reduced between 18 and 25nm. The increased anisotropy and fine particle size are useful for many applications, such as improving signal noise ratio of recording devices.

Fabrication of carbon nanotube-nickel nanoparticle hybrid paste electrodes for electrochemical sensing of carbohydrates

Carbon nanotube-nickel nanoparticle (CNT-NiNP) hybrid was prepared by the chemical reduction of a mixture containing nickel sulfate and CNTs using hydrazine. The structure of the material was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and vibrating sample magnetometery. A mixture of the CNT-NiNP hybrid and paraffin oil was packed into fused capillaries to fabricate paste electrodes for electrochemical sensing. The performance of the fabricated electrodes was demonstrated by measuring four carbohydrates in combination with cyclic voltammetry and capillary electrophoresis. The advantages of the electrodes include higher sensitivity, satisfactory stability, surface renewability, and low expense of fabrication. They may find wide applications in microchip capillary electrophoresis, flowing-injection analysis, and other microfluidic analysis systems.

Substitution effects of La3+ ions on the structural and magnetic properties of Co2Y hexaferrites synthesized by sol–gel autocombustion method

Y-type hexaferrite Sr2Co2LaxFe12−xO22 (x = 0.0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20) powders have been synthesized using the sol–gel autocombustion method. Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Thermogravimetry, Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometery were used to investigate the samples. XRD patterns confirm the formation of Y-type hexaferrite phase. SEM patterns show that mostly grains exhibit rod shape and some appear in the form of hexagonal platelet shape. The rod or rice shape hexaferrite may be used in catalysis, information storage, surface enhanced Raman scattering, imaging and sensing. The samples with hexagonal platelet-like shape particles may be suitable as microwave absorbing materials. The energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy spectrum shows the presence of dissolved reactants Sr, Co, La and Fe. The saturation magnetization (Ms) calculated using the law of approach to saturation decrease with the increasing of lanthanum (La3+) contents. The decrease in ‘Ms’ may be because of magnetic dilution and spin canting and hence reduction in the super-exchange interactions. The retentivity (Mr) and coercivity (Hc) enhance with the increase of La3+ contents. The enhancement in coercivity from 193 to 598.6 Oe may be because of increase in the porosity of samples with the increase of La3+ contents. The coercivity of the synthesized materials is few hundred oersteds (Oe), which may be suitable for security, switching, sensing, high frequency applications and is also favorable for electromagnetic materials.
