This article aims to present play as one of the most common, natural, and spontaneous forms of activity undertaken by preschool children. Through appropriately chosen mathematical games and didactic means, we can introduce a child to the secrets of culture and art stimulate their motor, emotional, social, and intellectual development. Particular emphasis is placed on games created by the children themselves, which engage not only manipulative and verbal activities but also mental processes to a large extent. In addition to its educational and upbringing functions, the article also highlights the importance of the caring function. It emphasizes the necessity for educators and teachers to adhere to fundamental principles aimed at safeguarding children from excessive risks associated with all playful activities within educational and childcare facilities, as well as beyond them.
