A Real-Time Smart Dumpsters Monitoring and Garbage Collection System using Iot

In most of the cities the overflowed garbage dumpsters are creating an obnoxious smell and making an unhygienic environment. The Collection of garbage is a very much needed municipal service that requires huge expenditures and execution of this operation is high-priced. The high pricing is due to the various factors such as man power, navigation of vehicles, fuel, maintenances and environmental costs. The above factor necessitates the design, implementation and execution of the new Smart Intelligent Garbage Alert System (SIGAS) for the smart cities. This paper focuses on the implementation of an IoT based embedded system which integrates various Sensors & controllers with RF transmitter and receiver for dumpster and vehicle monitoring system with their performance measured in real time environment.

ЗАГАЛЬНИЙ ПІДХІД ДО ФОРМУВАННЯ МОДЕЛЕЙ ОЦІНЮВАННЯ ТЕХНІЧНОГО СТАНУ АВТОМОБІЛЯ В УМОВАХ ЕКСПЛУАТАЦІЇ

The current state of the existing system of maintenance and repair of vehicles is considered. It has been shown that the existing maintenance and repair system was formed on the basis of a simplified model of the functioning of the transport infrastructure and no longer meets the modern requirements because it has an inflexibility in terms of ensuring the trouble-free operation of the car on the line, which manifests itself in the uniformity of approach to cars of all ages: a list of operations and periodicity of TO are identical for a new car and for a car before its major repair and cancellation. As of today, the development of new types of transportation has led to an increase in the time spent in the rolling stock far from the main production base, and, as a result, increased the role of preventive maintenance vehicles. Therefore, a promising direction is the adaptive system of maintenance and repair of rolling stock of motor transport in which forecasting can be carried out on the basis of the results of processing of diagnostic information in accordance with the scheme of forecasting and control of the technical condition of the car. The aim of the work is to develop modern methods and tools that allow remote control of the technical condition of the vehicle, taking into account operating conditions and assess its level of performance. The proposed approach to the control of the technical condition of rolling stock, which is to create information systems for organizational and functional support of technical operation processes. The introduction of the new basic principles of the "adaptive" vehicle technical condition management system, the key point of which is the development of an information and communication system and a base of predictive models that, by monitoring, remotely retrieve the necessary current information from the substation and its processing, as well as corrective influences. Ultimately, it was concluded that the generated model of the vehicle monitoring system under operating conditions is based on a general approach to the study of the driver-vehicle structure-operating conditions infrastructure of the vehicle operation (transport and highways).

Implementation of a UAV-sensory-system-based hazard source estimation in a chemical plant cluster

Since there has been growing concern about the damage that atmospheric leakage and dispersion accidents may have done to human beings, researchers are dedicated to study effective and feasible source estimation methods in chemical plant clusters. In this paper, the safety monitoring of chemical production process is conducted via an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) monitoring system. Based on the observed data from this system, a source estimation method incorporating Bayesian inference and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is proposed. Furthermore, the method is extended to discuss the source tracing algorithm using game theory in the UAV system. Finally, a practical case study is carried out to verify the feasibility and credibility of the proposed method. Results show that the method and system are helpful for safety monitoring and risk assessment in a chemical plant cluster.

The use of new technologies in the monitoring of motor vehicles

Paper discussed the problem of monitoring of motor vehicles in Poland. Monitoring was ordered on the basis of EU and Polish law. Currently, there is no vehicle monitoring system in Poland at the national level. New technologies and applications in the field of ITS are currently available. The article addresses this problem and presents proposals in this area.

The purpose of this study is to extract and recognize license plates from the image of the vehicle, that infringes so that it can be used as a dataset in making reports on determining sanctions that are appropriate to the type of violation of the vehicle. This study uses an image processing extraction process so that method according to this method is K- Nearest Neighbour, using this method will facilitate the detection process because this method does not use looping, this process begins by preparing a training image and then performing the image recognition stage. Image recognition is a process of matching digital image data that has been converted into a matrix and then matched with existing datasets so that the result can be known in the form of reports

Design, modeling, and analysis of a high performance piezoelectric energy harvester for intelligent tires

Basic parameters affecting vehicle safety and performance such as pressure, temperature, friction coefficient, and contact-patch dimensions are measured in intelligent tires via sensors that require electric power for operation and wireless communication to be synchronized to the vehicle monitoring and control system. Piezoelectric energy harvesters (PEHs) can extract a fraction of energy that is wasted as a result of deflection during rolling of tires, and this extracted energy can be used to power up sensors embedded in intelligent tires. A new design of PEH inspired from Cymbal PEHs is introduced, and its performance is evaluated in this paper. Cymbal PEHs are proven to be useful in vibration energy harvesting, and in this paper, for the first time, the modified shape of Cymbal energy harvester is used as strain-based energy harvester for the tire application. The shape of the harvester is adjusted in a way that it can be safely embedded on the inner surface of tires. In addition to the high performance, ease of manufacturing is another advantage of this new design. A multiphysics model is developed and validated to determine the output voltage, power, and energy of the designed PEH. The modeling results indicated that the maximum output voltage, the maximum electric power, and the accumulated harvested energy are about 3.5 V, 2.8 mW, and 24 mJ/rev, respectively, which are sufficient to power two sensors. In addition, the possibility is shown to supply power to five sensors by increase in piezoelectric material thickness. The effect of rolling tire temperature on the performance of the proposed PEH is also studied.

Automated Lead Acid Battery Detector and Monitoring System for Vehicles

The study mainly aimed to provide automation in detecting and monitoring system for lead acid battery of the motorcycle. The study focuses on the secondary lead acid battery and it describes a prototype system to monitor battery status. The prototype monitors the electrolyte level, temperature and humidity and stores data and provide an LED lights for indication of the lead acid battery’s voltage. To monitor these lead acid battery parameters, the proponent developed a prototype that has a Zigbee technology role as a transceiver of the prototype. Voltage, Electrolyte level, temperature and humidity are the secondary lead acid battery parameters being monitored by the prototype. The study helps the motorcycle drivers to be more aware of the status of the battery. There are 50 respondents divided into 3 which is the Students contain with 30 respondents, Drivers contain with 10 respondents and Expert/Mechanics contain with 10 respondents. Overall rating of the functionality, reliability and usability had a weighted mean of 3.78 mark as agree which means the prototype is applicable. In future research work it must include the external factors not included in this paper.

To date, work is underway at KSMA, NTU, and KHAHU on the further development of information software systems for vehicle monitoring to study the possibility of remotely obtaining information on vehicle operating parameters under ITS conditions. Known vehicle monitoring systems that were developed in KHAHU and NTU under the guidance of doctors of technical sciences Volkov V. P., Mateychik V. P. and Gritsuka I. V. allow identification of the vehicle, continuous automatic measurement of parameters characterizing the state of the vehicle, diagnosing, namely monitoring the health of the vehicle and its components, recognizing and preventing the development of failures in its operation and, ultimately, ensuring the functioning of the vehicle maintenance and repair system funds for technical condition. These systems are a complex set of onboard and stationary hardware and software. But for trouble-free operation of the vehicle, monitoring of these parameters is not enough. The vehicle monitoring information system with the installed tachograph and tracker is based on the system proposed by Y. Volkov, but the peculiarity of such a system is that, in addition to monitoring the vehicle’s parameters directly, it considers the features of remote control of driver’s work and rest modes, environmental indicators of the vehicle , speed violations, etc. in modern IPC in the process of determining the parameters of the technical condition of the vehicle. The article presents the features of the implementation of the formation of the information model of the subject area for monitoring the parameters of the tachograph and tracker in the technical condition of the vehicle. An analytical description of the semantics of the system is formed using Boolean adjacency matrices that describe the relations between the components of the subject area. The main sets of relations (relationships) between the components within the information model of the subject area of the vehicle are determined. As a result of the formation of a description of the subject area for monitoring the parameters of the tachograph and tracker in the vehicle’s technical condition system, information models are obtained that provide a stable unambiguous connection of system objects with information elements and with automation objects.

In connection with the use of built-in on-board diagnostics on cars, the development of satellite navigation systems and mobile communications, modern information technologies, it became possible to carry out remote monitoring with an assessment of the level of technical condition of the vehicle. This, in turn, allows us to switch to an adaptive system of technical maintenance and repair of cars, the key point of which is the development of an information and communication system and information software systems that provide, by monitoring remotely, the technical parameters of a vehicle in operating conditions, and assess the technical parameters of vehicles in operation and development of corrective actions. The purpose of the work is to generalize and develop existing modern information technologies in road transport in the conditions of intelligent transport systems (ITS). It is shown that in the formation of the information software complex in the conditions of ITS, for the formalization of the main processes, the methodology of structural analysis and design of SADT was applied. The source data for monitoring the technical condition of the vehicle, in accordance with the provisions of the IDEF0 methodology, the design features of the vehicle and the particular operating conditions, there is information on the technical condition of the vehicle. In this case, the general software of the manufacturing enterprise for the operation of automobile transport has been supplemented with respect to the algorithms of the software when performing: vehicle identification; identification of operating conditions; checking the conformity of the vehicle condition to operating conditions. To determine the subject area of ​​the information system for assessing the technical condition of a vehicle under operating conditions during its monitoring, a data flow diagram was used, which represents the highest descriptive level of a vehicle monitoring system.

Development and Application of Real-time Monitoring System for Dangerous Chemicals Transport Vehicles Based on Internet +

Vehicle transportation accounts for 80% of the dangerous chemicals transport volume in China, and it is of great significance to ensure safe transportation of dangerous chemicals. Based on the idea of Internet +, this paper establishes a real-time monitoring system to realize all-round network management of vehicle information, driving status and security risks. This study designs a radio frequency identification (RFID) system to collect real-time data of dangerous chemicals transport vehicles, using a vehicle information concentrator to collect vehicle data and transmit it through mobile network; based on hardware design, it uses TOMCAT as the application server, Java as the system development language, and MYSQL as the database to develop a background management system for dangerous chemicals transport vehicles, and this system has a vehicle information management platform and a real-time vehicle monitoring platform. The application of the real-time monitoring system shows that the system can collect vehicle information, driver information, etc.; as well as locate the vehicles in real time and realize the danger warning of dangerous chemicals.

System of Monitoring and Guidance of Autonomous Vehicles based on Machine Vision

Objectives: To describe the design and implementation of an autonomous vehicle monitoring and guidance system (AGV) based on machine vision. Methods/Analysis: The design of each of the modules was established: Machine vision that obtains the position, orientation and identification of each AGV from the recognition of the detector codes. The wireless communication interface from the use of the Xbee module and that establishes the communication between the AGVs and the central host. And the central controller makes the decision of the host for each AGV as the control of traffic and movement. Findings: For each of these modules the relevant tests were carried out in 3 stages in which the first one tested the HMI that allows the user to control the whole system. The second stage tests were performed on each of the modules for one and two cameras, and the last stage examines the behavior of the complete system from the data obtained from the second stage. Vehicle monitoring based on GSM technology for safety and security

Information and communication technologies (ICT) have contributed greatly to society by solving many emergent problems to allow people to lead easier lives. One such problem is vehicle monitoring during parking or driving to ensure that the vehicle and the persons inside are in safe conditions. This research proposes a vehicle monitoring system using wireless technology and employing mobile phones and Arduino microcontrollers. The functions of the proposed system include sending alarm messages to the vehicle driver in case the vehicle is broken into or stolen. Further, in case of accident or exposure to the crime of theft or abduction during driving, the driver can send appeal messages, including the vehicle position, to family, friends, police, and ambulance services using only a single click. The system achieves these functions automatically in cases where the vehicle is erratic or in significant collisions. The communication distance between the vehicle and the receivers of the messages allows coverage in all regions served by mobile networks, thus covering a wide range. The system has been tested for several different cases and has succeeded in tests.

Data Cleaning of Speed Monitoring Based on Driving Behavior Characteristics for Commercial Vehicle

There are lots of speed monitoring data in the commercial vehicle monitoring system, and the accuracy of the data depends on accuracy of the analysis for driving behavior characteristics. In this paper, the driving behavior characteristics for commercial vehicles is analyzed so that six common types of errors for vehicle monitoring data are obtained, such as false date for time information, outlying high/low speed values, zero-speed signal drift, false zero-speed records, outlying acceleration/deceleration values, noise jamming data. Then data cleaning rules are made. Finally, we compare data cleaning effect through typical data source case. Results show that the data cleaning method is used for fitting the data, and correct the error signal from the vehicle driving curves more correspond with the real-world driving and road conditions.

Analysis of selected acceleration signals measurements obtained during supervised service conditions – study of hitherto approach

The subject matter of the paper is an analysis of chosen results of acceleration signals measurements obtained from the prototype of the Rail Vehicle and Rail Track Monitoring System. This prototype of the monitoring system measures acceleration signals on designated elements of the electric multiple unit (EMU). These elements comprise components such as: bogie frames, wheels and bodies of railway vehicles. The analysis was prepared on the basis of rail vehicle journeys on sample sections of the Polish National Railways (PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.) network. The products of measurements were converted to values of specific diagnostic parameters (statistical parameters), e.g. an amplitude (zero-peak), a root mean square, a kurtosis coefficient, an interquartile range. Comparing the values of diagnostic parameters with their permissible values allows the monitoring of distinctive dynamic behaviors of rail vehicles and track condition, as well as the temperature of the bearings of rail vehicle wheelsets. It also allows the determining of the condition of rail vehicle structure. The permissible values of certain diagnostics parameters could not be obtained from the literature. Therefore, this paper in part presents a way of obtaining these permissible values. The main intention of the analysis described here is to determine the usability of various diagnostic parameters and to identify the course of further research related to condition monitoring and diagnostics of rail vehicles and tracks.
