Consequences of Thermal Diffusion and Chemical Reaction on Mixed Convection MHD Casson Fluid through Porous Media with Inclined Plates

In this present article, we analyzed the effects of Thermal diffusion and chemical reaction on nonlinear mixed convection MHD flow of viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past an inclined porous channel under the influence of thermal radiation and chemical reaction. The transformed conservation equations are solved analytically subject to physically appropriate boundary conditions by using two term perturbation technique. The numerical values of fluid velocity, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically whereas those of skin friction coefficient, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the plate are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. It is observed that the velocity is decreased with increasing magnetic field parameter. The resultant velocity and concentration has enhances with increasing thermal diffusion parameters. The study is relevant to chemical materials processing applications.

AbstractIn this paper, we analyze the effects of Hall current, radiation absorption and diffusion thermo on unsteady magnetohydromagnetic free convection flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting and chemically reacting second‐grade fluid past an inclined porous plates in the presence of an aligned magnetic field, thermal radiation, and chemical reaction. An exact analytical solution of the governing equations for fluid velocity, fluid temperature, and species concentration subject to appropriate initial and boundary conditions is obtained using the perturbation technique. Expressions for shear stress, rate of heat transfer, and rate of mass transfer at the plate are derived. The numerical values of primary and secondary fluid velocities, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically, whereas those of shear stress and rate of mass transfer at the plate are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. In addition, the skin friction on the boundary, the heat flux expressed in terms of the Nusselt number, and the rate of mass transfer described in the Sherwood number are all derived, and their behavior is studied computationally. It can be deduced that an increase in radiation absorption and hall current parameters over the fluid region increases the velocity produced. The resulting velocity continually increases to a very high level, with contributions coming from thermal and solutal buoyancy forces. Skin friction may decrease by manipulating the rotation parameter, but the Hall effect can worsen it. When the parameter for the chemical reaction increases, there is a concomitant rise in the mass transfer rate.

Rotation, electromagnetic field, and variable thermal conductivity effects on free convection flow past an eternity vertical porous plate

AbstractThe present research may facilitate the reduction of the number of conversion steps required to include the low output voltages in an electrokinetic biomass process. Variable thermal conductivity and electroosmosis flow have already established great potential in the thermo‐elastic models of various manufacturing industries and have been widely used in energy technologies. As a result, the current framework investigates the characteristics of natural convection flow with the influence of variable thermal conductivity and electroosmosis over an eternity vertical porous plate. Coriolis forces and Hall current effects are considered in the momentum equations, and also thermal radiation and variable thermal conductivity are taken as energy equations. A linear chemical reaction parameter is used in the concentration equation. The equation of Poisson–Boltzmann is exploited to depict the electric potential characteristics within the accelerated plate medium. The pdepe command in Matlab software is used to figure out the numerical solutions to equations about momentum, energy, and concentration. The expressions of fluid transverse velocity, fluid axial velocity, fluid temperature, and concentration profiles are presented as numerical results and also derived vital relevant stream parameters diagrammatically, whereas the numerical values of primary skin friction, secondary skin friction, and Nusselt number are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. The temperature rises as the strength of the thermal conductivity variable parameter increases. Also, as the values of the Taylor number and the thermal conductivity variable parameter go up, the primary velocity goes down. Similarly, secondary velocity increases in the opposite direction as the Taylor number and thermal conductivity variable parameter increase.

Hall, Soret, and rotational effects on unsteady MHD rotating flow of a second-grade fluid through a porous medium in the presence of chemical reaction and aligned magnetic field

The effects of Hall current, rotation and Soret effects on an unsteady MHD free convection heat and mass transfer flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past an inclined plate embedded in a porous medium in the presence of chemical reaction and an aligned magnetic field are investigated. An exact analytical solution of the governing equations for fluid velocity, fluid temperature, and species concentration subject to appropriate initial and boundary conditions is obtained using the perturbation technique. Expressions for shear stress, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the plate are derived for both ramped temperature and isothermal plates. The numerical values of primary and secondary fluid velocities, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically, whereas those of shear stress and rate of mass transfer at the plate are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. It is concluded that, the resultant velocity is increased with an increasing in Hall and Soret parameters throughout fluid region. The thermal and solutal buoyancy forces contribute to the resultant velocity ever-increasing to high. The temperature distribution is trim downs through an increasing in heat source parameter. The concentration is reduced with an increase in the chemical reaction parameter in the entire fluid region. Concentration buoyancy force, hall current, and Prandtl number have tendency to reduce in skin friction whereas permeability of the porous medium, Rotation, chemical reaction, Soret number, thermal buoyancy force and mass diffusion have reverse effect on it.

Establishment of Impulsive and Accelerated Motions of Casson Fluid in an Inclined Plate in the Proximity of MHD and Heat Generation

This article is committed to examine the unsteady MHD Casson liquid flow in an inclined infinite vertical plate in the proximity of heat generation and thermal radiation. The governing energy and momentum partial differential equations are ascertained. The momentum equation is established for two distinct types of conditions when the magnetic domain is relevant to the liquid and the magnetic domain is relevant to the moving plate. Analytical expressions for liquid temperature and motion are acquired by applying Laplace transform technique. The effects of physical parameters are accounted for two distinct types of motions namely impulsive motion and accelerated motion. The numerical values of liquid motion and temperature are displayed graphically for various values of pertinent flow parameters. A particular case of our development shows an excellent compromise with the previous consequences in the literature.

Diffusion-thermo and heat source effects on the unsteady radiative MHD boundary layer slip flow past an infinite vertical porous plate

The heat and mass transfer characteristics of the nonlinear, unsteady, radiative MHD boundary layer slip flow of a chemically reacting fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate are taken into account in this study. The effect of physical parameters are accounted for two distinct types of thermal boundary conditions namely prescribed uniform wall temperature thermal boundary condition and prescribed heat flux thermal boundary condition. Exact solution of the governing equations for the fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are obtained by using two term perturbation technique subject to physically appropriate boundary conditions. The expressions of skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also derived. The numerical values of fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are displayed graphically whereas those of shear stress, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the plate are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. Results are compared with the literature in the limiting case.

Entropy generation in convective radiative flow of a Casson nanofluid in non-Darcy porous medium with Hall current and activation energy: The multiple regression model

The present article’s primary goal is to analyze entropy generation on unsteady three dimensional thermally radiating magnetohydrodynamic flow of Casson nanofluid past a vertical stretching sheet embedded in a non-Darcy porous medium under the influence of mixed convection, Hall current, viscous dissipation, Ohmic heating, and heat generation. The combined effects of Brownian motion and thermophoretic diffusion are taken into consideration, and the impact of the chemical reaction initiated by activation energy is also incorporated in the flow-field. A mathematical model of the physical problem containing highly nonlinear coupled partial differential equations with convective boundary conditions is developed. Suitable similarity transformation is applied to convert the governing highly nonlinear coupled partial differential equations into nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations, and then the resulting nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations are numerically solved with the help of the spectral quasi-linearization method. A detailed investigation is performed to illustrate the impact of several pertinent flow parameters on the velocity, temperature, concentration, entropy generation and Bejan number profiles. In contrast, the numerical values of skin friction coefficients in x and z directions, local Nusselt number, and local Sherwood number are presented in tabular forms for varying values of pertinent flow parameters. Apart from this, linear and quadratic multiple regression analyses for the physical quantities of engineering interest have been executed to upgrade the present model’s efficiency and application in various industrial and engineering processes. With a variation in magnetic parameter, the maximum relative errors in the linear regression estimates for the skin- friction coefficients in x and z directions are found to be 2.28–2.37% and 0.85–1.72%, respectively. Besides, due to the enhancement in magnetic parameter, the maximum relative errors in the quadratic regression estimations for the reduced Nusselt number NuxRex−1/2 and the reduced Sherwood number ShxRex−1/2 are 0.56%−0.58% and 0.30%, respectively. It is observed that the error of each solution of the present physical problem approaches to be less than 10−8 in mere six iterations. Moreover, the findings of the current research work signify that the Brownian motion and thermophoretic diffusion minimize entropy generation adjacent to the sheet; on the contrary, activation energy intensifies entropy generation rate closer to the sheet. Furthermore, the appropriate resemblance is obtained through verifying the present results with previous existing results.

Influence of Hall current and rotation on the radiative MHD flow past an impulsively started infinite vertical porous plate

The present investigation deals with the effects of hall current, and Soret number on the non linear, radiative, unsteady, hydromagnetic natural convection flow of an optically thick rotating fluid past an impulsively started vertical porous plate. Exact analytical solution of the non-dimensional governing equations is obtained in closed form by using Laplace transform technique. The numerical values of primary and secondary velocity profiles are displayed graphically for different values of pertinent flow parameters.

Capturing the Transient Features of Double Diffusive Thin Film Flow of a Second Grade Fluid Through a Porous Medium

The transient features of double-diffusive natural convection thin film flow of a second grade fluid past an inclined plate embedded in a porous medium has been captured. Laplace transform technique combined with INVLAP subroutine of MATLAB is employed to solve the governing equations. The numerical values of all fluid flow characteristics are demonstrated graphically for different values of pertinent flow parameters. Furthermore, the time bound effects of the flow parameters influencing unsteady heat and mass transfer thin film flow of a fluid of second grade are revealed and supported with physical interpretations. We have found that the influence of thermal and solutal buoyancy forces grow with respect to time while the effects of thermal and solutal diffusion diminish with time. Also, the effect of second grade parameter becomes more pronounced with the passage of time. Researchers are welcome to validate the novel results presented in this paper through experiments which may find use in the upgraded design of mechanical systems involving second grade thin film flow in a way that supports better heat and mass transfer.

Unsteady MHD Flow of Radiating and Rotating Fluid with Hall Current and Thermal Diffusion Past a Moving Plate in a Porous Medium

The paper examines the combined effects of Hall current, buoyancy forces, thermal radiation, thermo-diffusion and fluid rotation on an unsteady hydromagmetic boundary layer flow with heat and mass transfer over an impulsively moving vertical plate embedded in a porous medium. Base on some realistic simplified assumptions, the governing equations of momentum, energy and chemical species concentration are obtained and tackled analytically using Laplace transform technique. The numerical values of primary and secondary fluid velocities, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically while those of skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented in tabular form for different values of pertinent flow parameters.

Heat and Mass Transfer Analysis of an Unsteady MHD Flow Past an Impulsively Started Vertical Plate in Presence of Thermal Radiation

The present paper aims at investigating the boundary layer flow of an unsteady MHD free convection heat and mass transfer flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid over an impulsively started infinite vertical plate in presence of thermal radiation. The magnetic Reynolds number is considered to be so small that the induced magnetic field can be neglected. Exact solution of the governing equations is obtained in closed form by Laplace transform technique. Expression for skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are derived. The numerical values of fluid velocity, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically whereas the numerical values of skin friction, the Nusselt number and the Sherwood number are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. It is being found that the mass diffusion tends to reduce the fluid velocity whereas thermal radiation has reverse effect on the fluid velocity throughout the boundary layer region. Mass diffusion tends to reduce the species concentration whereas time has reverse effect on the species concentration throughout the boundary layer region. The radiation parameter and mass diffusion decreases the skin friction whereas Prandtl number has reverse effect on it. The radiation parameter reduces the rate of heat transfer whereas as time progress the rate of heat transfer is getting accelerated.

A Study of Chemically Reactive Species and Thermal Radiation Effects on an Unsteady MHD Free Convection Flow Through a Porous Medium Past a Flat Plate with Ramped Wall Temperature

An investigation of the effects of a chemical reaction and thermal radiation on unsteady MHD free convection heat and mass transfer flow of an electrically conducting, viscous, incompressible fluid past a vertical infinite flat plate embedded in a porous medium is carried out. The flow is induced by a general time-dependent movement of the vertical plate, and the cases of ramped temperature and isothermal plates are studied. An exact solution of the governing equations is obtained in closed form by the Laplace Transform technique. Some applications of practical interest for different types of plate motions are discussed. The numerical values of fluid velocity, temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically whereas the numerical values of skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented in a tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters for both ramped temperature and isothermal plates.

Double diffusive flow of a hydromagnetic nanofluid in a rotating channel with Hall effect and viscous dissipation: Active and passive control of nanoparticles

The investigation of simultaneous effects of Hall current and viscous dissipation on three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic nanofluid flow in a horizontal rotating channel with active and passive control of nanoparticles, is carried out. The lower sheet is considered stretching while the upper sheet is kept fixed. Mathematical model is developed using boundary layer and scale analysis approach. Similarity transformation technique is employed to translate the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. The bvp4c solver of MATLAB is employed to solve transformed equations. Computations for nanofluid velocity, nanofluid temperature distribution and distribution of nanoparticles along with skin friction co-efficient and Nusselt number, are carried out for a range of values of pertinent flow parameters. A comparative analysis of effect of CuO and Al2O3 nanoparticles on velocity, temperature, nanoparticle distribution, skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number is carried out. Rate of heat transfer at the lower sheet is observed to be a decreasing function of magnetic field whereas this physical quantity is getting enhanced as the volume fraction of nanoparticles are increased.

Hydromagnetic thin film flow of Casson fluid in non-Darcy porous medium with Joule dissipation and Navier’s partial slip

In this paper, the effects of viscous and Ohmic heating and heat genera-tion/absorption on magnetohydrodynamic flow of an electrically conducting Casson thin film fluid over an unsteady horizontal stretching sheet in a non-Darcy porous medium are investigated. The fluid is assumed to slip along the boundary of the sheet. Similar-ity transformation is used to translate the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. A shooting technique in conjunction with the 4th order Runge-Kutta method is used to solve the transformed equations. Computations are car-ried out for velocity and temperature of the fluid thin film along with local skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number for a range of values of pertinent flow parameters. It is observed that the Casson parameter has the ability to enhance free surface velocity and film thickness, whereas the Forchheimer parameter, which is responsible for the inertial drag has an adverse effect on the fluid velocity inside the film. The velocity slip along the boundary tends to decrease the fluid velocity. This investigation has various applications in engineering and in practical problems such as very large scale integration (VLSI) of electronic chips and film coating.

HYDROMAGNETIC NATURAL CONVECTION FLOW IN A NON-DARCY MEDIUM WITH SORET AND DUFOUR EFFECTS PAST AN INCLINED STRETCHING SHEET

The investigation of magnetohydrodynamic natural convection flow of an incompressible, electrically conducting, viscous, chemically reactive, and heat-absorbing fluid with combined heat and mass transfer past an inclined linearly stretching sheet when heat and mass fluxes are variable in nature, considering thermodiffusion and diffusion-thermo effects for the Forchheimer extended Darcy model, is carried out. To ease the analysis and process of computation, similarity transformation is used to convert the governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. The Green–Swigert technique in conjunction with the Runge–Kutta fourth-order method is used to solve the transformed equations. Detailed computations for fluid velocity, fluid temperature, and species concentration as well as wall velocity gradient, wall temperature gradient, and wall concentration gradient are carried out for a range of values of pertinent flow parameters to analyze the physics of the flow. Increasing Forchheimer number (local inertia parameter) leads to a fall in fluid velocity because of a corresponding rise in Forchheimer impedance. The kind of study we have performed here has various applications in engineering and may have a bearing on problems of practical interest, namely, inclined plate clarifiers, oil–water separators, sedimentation equipment such as inclined plate settlers, fabrication of thin film, and so on.

Unsteady Hydromagnetic Natural Convection Flow Past an Oscillating Vertical Surface with Hall Effect and Convective Boundary Condition

The aim of this paper is to analyze the effect of Hall current on unsteady MHD free convection flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid past an oscillating vertical plate with convective boundary condition. The fluid flow is due to both the oscillation and the convective heating of the plate. The resulting governing equations are nondimensionalized and solved analytically using the Laplace transform technique. Numerical results for axial and transverse velocities and temperature as well as the skin-friction coefficient and Nusselt number are shown graphically for various values of pertinent flow parameters.

INFLUENCE OF SLIP CONDITION ON RADIATIVE MHD FLOW OF A VISCOUS FLUID IN A PARALLEL POROUS PLATE CHANNEL IN PRESENCE OF HEAT ABSORPTION AND CHEMICAL REACTION

The present investigation deals, heat and mass transfer characteristics with the effect of slip on the hydromagnetic pulsatile flow through a parallel plate channel filled with saturated porous medium. Based on the pulsatile flow nature, exact solution of the governing equations for the fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are obtained by using two term perturbation technique subject to physically appropriate boundary conditions. The expressions of skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are also derived. The numerical values of the fluid velocity, temperature and concentration are displayed graphically whereas those of shear stress, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the plate are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. By increasing the slip parameter at the cold wall the velocity increases whereas the effect is totally reversed in the case of shear stress at the cold wall.

Free convective heat transfer with hall effects, heat absorption and chemical reaction over an accelerated moving plate in a rotating system

The unsteady MHD free convective heat and mass transfer flow of an electrically conducting, viscous and incompressible fluid over an accelerated moving vertical plate in the presence of heat absorption and chemical reaction with ramped temperature and ramped surface concentration through a porous medium in a rotating system is studied, taking Hall effects into account. The governing equations are solved analytically with the help of Laplace transform technique. The unified closed-form expressions are obtained for fluid velocity, fluid temperature, species concentration, skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood numbers. The effects of various parameters on fluid velocity, fluid temperature and species concentration are discussed by graphs whereas numerical values of skin friction, Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are presented in tabular form for different values of pertinent flow parameters. The numerical results are also compared with free convective flow near ramped temperature plate with ramped surface concentration with the corresponding flow near isothermal plate with uniform surface concentration.

Hydromagnetic flow of heat absorbing and radiating fluid over exponentially stretching sheet with partial slip and viscous and Joule dissipation

Purpose An investigation of hydromagnetic two dimensional boundary layer flow with heat transfer of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting, heat absorbing and optically thick heat radiating fluid over a permeable exponentially stretching sheet considering the effects of viscous and Joule dissipations in the presence of velocity and thermal slip is carried out. Design/methodology/approach Using similarity transform, governing differential equations representing mathematical model of the problem are solved with the help of fourth-order Runge-Kutta method along with shooting technique. Numerical solutions of fluid velocity and fluid temperature are depicted graphically for various values of pertinent flow parameters whereas numerical values of wall velocity gradient and wall temperature gradient are displayed graphically for various values of pertinent flow parameters. Findings Numerical results obtained in this paper are compared with earlier published results and are found to be in excellent agreement. Magnetic field and suction tend to enhance the wall velocity gradient whereas dimensionless co-ordinate, injection and velocity slip factor have reverse effect on it. Suction and heat absorption tend to enhance wall temperature gradient whereas magnetic field, velocity slip factor, injection, thermal radiation, thermal slip factor and viscous dissipation have reverse effect on it. Originality/value The investigation of this problem may have bearing in several engineering processes such as extrusion of plastic sheet, annealing and tinning of copper wire, paper production, crystal growing and glass blowing, continuous casting of metals and spinning of fibers.

Heat and Mass Transfer Effects on Unsteady MHD Natural Convection Flow of a Chemically Reactive and Radiating Fluid through a Porous Medium Past a Moving Vertical Plate with Arbitrary Ramped Temperature

Investigation of unsteady hydromagnetic natural convection flow with heat and mass transfer of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting, chemically reactive and optically thin radiating fluid past an exponentially accelerated moving vertical plate with arbitrary ramped temperature embedded in a fluid saturated porous medium is carried out. Exact solutions of momentum, energy and concentration equations are obtained in closed form by Laplace transform technique. The expressions for the shear stress, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the plate for both ramped temperature and isothermal plates are derived. The numerical values of fluid velocity, fluid temperature and species concentration are displayed graphically whereas those of shear stress, rate of heat transfer and rate of mass transfer at the plate are presented in tabular form for various values of pertinent flow parameters. It is found that, for isothermal plate, the fluid temperature approaches steady state when t  1.5 . Consequently, the rate of heat transfer at isothermal plate approaches steady state when t  1.5 .
