Impact of global heterogeneity of renewable energy supply on heavy industrial production and green value chains

On the path to climate neutrality, global production locations and trade patterns of basic materials might change due to the heterogeneous availability of renewable electricity. Here we estimate the ‘renewables pull’, that is, the energy-cost savings, for varying depths of relocation for three key tradable energy-intensive industrial commodities: steel, urea and ethylene. For an electricity-price difference of €40 MWh−1, we find respective relocation savings of 18%, 32% and 38%, which might, despite soft factors in the private sector, lead to green relocation. Conserving today’s production patterns by shipping hydrogen is substantially costlier, whereas trading intermediate products could save costs while keeping substantial value creation in renewable-scarce importing regions. In renewable-scarce regions, a societal debate on macroeconomic, industrial and geopolitical implications is needed, potentially resulting in selective policies of green-relocation protection.

Spatial-temporal characterization of cropland abandonment and its driving mechanisms in the Karst Plateau in Eastern Yunnan, China, 2001-2020.

The karst plateau is dominated by mountainous and hilly landforms, with low mechanization level of cropland, high difficulty of cultivation, and obvious phenomenon of cropland abandonment, which threatens regional food security. This study aims to analyze the spatial-temporal variation and its driving mechanisms of abandoned cropland in the Karst Plateau in Eastern Yunnan, China (KPEYC) between 2001 and 2020. To achieve this goal, 18 key factors from population, economic environment, cropland attributes, and farming conditions are selected. Moreover, correlation analysis, geodetector, and regression analysis methods are applied from three perspectives: temporal change, spatial distribution and spatial-temporal change. The results show that: (i) The cropland abandonment rate (CAR) in the KPEYC shows a fluctuating trend, with an average value of 9.78%, and the spatial distribution shows a pattern of "high in the center and low in the south and north". (ii) From the perspective of temporal change, gross value of agricultural production, and gross value of industrial production have the largest correlation coefficients with CAR. (iii) The explanatory power of gross tertiary industrial production, gross value of industrial production, followed by soil thickness. (iv) Gross value of agricultural production, and gross tertiary industrial production are the core driving forces for the spatial-temporal change of CAR. The higher the gross value of agricultural production and gross tertiary industrial production, the lower the CAR. elevation, soil thickness, and traffic mileage are the main driving factors for the spatial-temporal change of CAR. The study indicates that economic factors are decisive for cropland abandonment in the KPEYC. Based on the results, this study can provide decision-making support for local prevention and control of cropland abandonment, and the local community needs to promote land transfer and concentration and local urbanization according to local conditions, improve agricultural policies, improve farming conditions, etc. in order to increase farmers' enthusiasm for production, promote the rational use of cropland, and solidly push forward ecological restoration and management, optimize ecological spatial patterns, manage serious areas of rocky desertification, and appropriately alleviate the contradiction between people and land.

Analysis the impact of bank credit on growth in the industrial sector in Iraq for the period 2008-2021

This research aims to shed light on the reality of industrial production in Iraq for the period 2008-2021 and on the reality, structure of bank credit granted to the industrial sector (both private and government) in the same period. And then measuring and analyzing the effect of this credit in its two parts on the growth of industrial production for the same period. The research adopted the inductive analytical approach in analyzing the available data on bank credit granted to the industrial sector and the added value of industrial production in Iraq, and the econometric approach through the use of multiple linear regression to measure the impact of bank credit on industrial production in Iraq. The research has come to the conclusion that the percentages of bank credit granted to the Iraqi industrial sector suffer from fluctuation, imbalance, and scarcity, and that this credit does not affect the industrial production process, as it was found to be insignificant. When comparing the credit granted by private banks to the credit granted by government banks, it turns out that there is a defect in the credit structure. As the largest proportions of credit granted to industrialists come from government banks, despite their small numbers, and the lowest percentage comes from private banks, despite their large numbers. It was found that the credit of government banks is not significant and does not affect the industrial production process, while the credit of private banks, despite its scarcity, is significant and influential in the industrial production process

High strength injection molding welding and interface crystal phase changes in polyamide 6

AbstractInjection molding is a widely used method for production of plastic components, offering both simplicity and high strength. In this study, secondary injection molding was utilized to weld polyamide 6 (PA6). The welded samples were evaluated for the welding strength via a shear tensile test. Three process parameters of mold temperature, injection temperature, and injection speed were varied to determine the optimal conditions for welding. A polarizing microscope analysis of the welding interface revealed formation of a shish kebab layer (SKL) structure, which significantly contributed to the welding strength. A differential scanning calorimetry analysis of the welded samples showed that changes in the crystallinity at the interface were closely related to the welding strength under different injection molding conditions. To analyze the crystal phase of the interface after welding, we propose the use of Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy area scanning to obtain the relationship between the phase transformation and welding strength. Additionally, microhardness testing is proposed as a means of evaluation of the welding effect. Overall, this study highlights the importance of optimization of process parameters in secondary injection molding to achieve strong welds in PA6, where the SKL structure and crystallinity changes at the interface have crucial roles.Highlights The high welding shear strength reaches 80% of the base material. The interfacial crystalline structure has a significant impact on the strength. The crystalline changes were analyzed using FTIR region scanning. The relationship between microhardness and welding strength was obtained. The wide‐ranging conditions have reference value for industrial production.

Pengaruh Modal, Tenaga Kerja Dan Pelatihan Terhadap Nilai Produksi Dan Pendapatan Industri Pakaian Jadi Di Kota Denpasar

This research was conducted with the aim of evaluating the influence of capital, labor, and training on the production value of the ready-made garment industry in Kota Denpasar, as well as the influence of capital, labor, training, and production value on the industry's income. The research sample consisted of 88 units of ready-made garment industry businesses in Kota Denpasar, and path analysis was used as the analytical method. The results of the analysis indicated that capital, labor, and training have a positive impact on the production value of the ready-made garment industry in Kota Denpasar. Additionally, capital, labor, training, and production value also have a positive influence on the industry's income. Another interesting finding is that the production value acts as a mediator between capital, labor, and training and the income of the ready-made garment industry in Kota Denpasar.

Digital farming, invisible farmers

Digital technologies have been gradually penetrating agricultural production systems; specially, in the last two decades, generating both expectations and concerns because of the unknown technological scope and the speed of the transformations. While some sectors are enthusiastic on the potential of digital tools have to contribute efficiently in food production, to achieve agri-food sustainability and to mitigate climate change, others are concerned about the challenges digital technologic will produce on political, social and cultural fields. The embeddedness, conditions, and usage of digital technologies in the agriculture sector raise questions on how and who participates on Global Production Networks and shape governance structures and policies orientation underpinning them. In the current landscape, just some few Global Networks with different forms of economic and political power are dominating digitalisation worldwide. They have the control of technologies to implement digital agriculture at the global scale. Governmental institutions both at international and national level foster financial and market policies to invest and promote in digitalisation what has impacts on the shifting of food systems. This article examines the dynamics of power concentration wielded by the Global Networks that, through large transnational corporations, have managed to dominate different sectors of the food chain by implementing digital systems for agriculture. It also presents an analysis of land concentration and big data and the possible implications for small producers and traditional food systems in Latin America. It suggests that while some digital services can contribute to improving and alleviating the challenges facing agricultural production, others could increase the concentration of power in a few hands by appropriating sensitive information from Big Data and adapting it to industrial food production and food value chains and posing fundamental challenges to governance structures.

The role of clean and unclean energy resources in inspecting N-shaped impact of industrial production on environmental quality: A case of high polluting economies

This study is designed to probe the N-shaped consequence of industrial production on environmental quality from both traveling and production for the selected high-polluting country groups. The strength of this impact will be tested by considering renewable and polluting energy sources as controlled inputs in the proposed functional forms. The study utilizes a panel over an annual data series from 1990 to 2021 and uncovers the evidence of the N-formed influence of industrial production on carbon emission from traveling and production in long run. A similar is true for the short run but the coefficients are witnessed as insignificant. The study also reports the optimal level of industrial production where carbon emission from traveling and production turns out to be minimum in the selected country groups. For instance, at the values of industrial production such as 3.37 percent, 2.64 percent, and 3.31 percent, carbon emission from traveling turns out to be minimum while at the values of industrial production like 10.49 percent, 1.80 percent, and 3.34 percent, carbon emission from production becomes minimum. Beyond these optimal levels of output from industry, it will not remain environmentally friendly anymore. The findings further expose that renewable energy significantly improves environmental quality based on traveling and production in the long and short run while nonrenewable energy significantly deteriorates environmental quality based on traveling and production in long run but in the short run it only hurts environmental quality from production. According to the causality test, production from industry and environmental quality from traveling and production significantly cause each other while a feedback effect is witnessed between renewable energy and environmental quality from traveling and production, and similar results are found between fossil-based energy and environmental quality from traveling and production. Based on these findings, this research proposes that industrial output should not be stimulated beyond minimum threshold points as it will become harmful to the environment in the selected high-polluting economies. More investments in renewable energy-related activities will be expanded for improving environmental quality in the selected high-polluting country groups.

Distribution and source of black carbon in coastal river sediments around Haizhou Bay, Eastern China: implications for anthropogenic inputs.

It is crucial to investigate the distribution and origin of black carbon (BC) in the environment for evaluating human inputs and developing pollution control strategies. This study analyzed BC in coastal river sediments from Haizhou Bay, Eastern China. The concentrations (dry weight) of the BC, char, soot, and total organic carbon (TOC) in coastal river sediments flowing into Haizhou Bay were 0.11-4.68, 0.06-4.24, 0.04-0.70, and 0.15-2.29mg/g, respectively. Char and soot accounted for 38.54-90.70% and 9.30-61.46% of BC, with an average of 68.95% and 31.05%, respectively. The results show that the spatial variation of char was markedly presented in river sediment (108.27%), followed by that of BC (89.25%), TOC (58.69%), and soot (55.85%). The BC was mainly distributed in the Shawang River and the Shiliang River, soot was distributed primarily in the Shawang River, and char was mainly distributed in the Shiliang River. This finding supports the presence of anthropogenic activity sources in coastal rivers. The grey correlation analysis results show that industrial and agricultural activities greatly influenced BC emissions, as the influence degree of four socio-economic variables on BC contamination decreased as follows: regional total production value, population density, total agricultural production value, and total industrial production value. The char/soot ratio, an index to discriminate the source of BC contamination in sediments, was found to range from 0.63 to 9.75 with an average of 2.75. The result indicates that BC in Haizhou Bay was contributed from mixed sources including transportation emissions, fossil fuel combustion, and biomass combustion. The study demonstrates that BC could be an effective indicator for the degree and spatial distribution of organic pollutants in coastal river sediments.

Research on Competition and Cooperation Relationship of TV-Drama Production Company Based on Social Network.

The social network is affecting the connection of TV-drama production companies, and traditional partnerships are changing. Many companies are moving from traditional connections to gridded social networks. The changing relational network makes the relationship between TV-drama production companies change from linear and static to network and dynamic, and from the original cooperation based on “Contract” to the node-type cooperation of “Switch.” Through empirical study, the paper found that the social network relationship in the TV series production industry has become an essential social capital because the construction of social networks will effectively promote the development of the industry under the new competition and make TV-drama industry production chain, creative resources, and value derived channel, resource boundary and cooperation mechanism, and market competition pattern change. Ultimately, it will reshape the subject cognition, path cognition, and power cognition in the relationship network.

Solubility Determination and Modeling of 9,9-Dihexyl-2,7-dibromofluorene in Twelve Solvent Systems at 283.15–323.15 K

The 9,9-Dihexyl-2,7-dibromofluorene (F6-Br) is an important intermediate product in the synthesis of functional polyfluorenes for various applications. The solvent/antisolvent method has been one of the efficient methods to purify organic molecules for advanced applications, for which the solubility data of solutes in different solvents are the basis of purification. In this work, the solubility values of F6-Br in 12 kinds of solvents in the temperature range of 283.15–323.15 K and atmospheric pressure were determined by using the isothermal saturation method. The selected solvents were methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile, n-butanol, isopropanol, dichloromethane, dimethyl sulfoxide, 1,4-dioxane, ethyl acetate, n-hexane, tetrahydrofuran, chloroform, and toluene. The measured solubility data were correlated by the modified Apelblat equation. The maximum value of mean square deviation was 3.95 × 10–3, which retains practical guiding significance. The purification of F6-Br via solvent/antisolvent precipitation processing was demonstrated, and the involvement of rotating packed-bed-based technology significantly intensified the process efficiency, which showed promising application value for industrial production.

High-Precision Real-Time Detection of Blast Furnace Stockline Based on High-Dimensional Spatial Characteristics.

The real-time, continuity, and accuracy of blast furnace stockline information are of great significance in reducing energy consumption and improving smelting efficiency. However, the traditional mechanical measurement method has the problem of measuring point discontinuity, while the radar measurement method exhibits problems such as weak anti-interference ability, low accuracy, and poor stability. Therefore, a high-dimensional, spatial feature stockline detection method based on the maximum likelihood radial basis function model (MLRBFM) and structural dynamic self-optimization RBF neural network (SDSO-RBFNN) is proposed. Firstly, the discrete time series joint partition method is used to extract the time dimension periodic features of the blast furnace stockline. Based on MLRBFM, the high-dimensional spatial features of the stockline are then obtained. Finally, an SDSO-RBFNN is constructed based on an eigen orthogonal matrix and a right triangular matrix decomposition (QR) direct clustering algorithm with spatial–temporal features as input, so as to obtain continuous, high-precision stockline information. Both the simulation results and industrial validation indicate that the proposed method can provide real-time and accurate stockline information, and has great practical value for industrial production.

Real-Time Detection and Short-Term Prediction of Blast Furnace Burden Level Based on Space-Time Fusion Features.

Real-time, continuous and accurate blast furnace burden level information is of great significance for controlling the charging process, ensuring a smooth operation of a blast furnace, reducing energy consumption and emissions and improving blast furnace output. However, the burden level information measured by conventional mechanical stock rods and radar probes exhibit problems of weak anti-interference ability, large fluctuations in accuracy, poor stability and discontinuity. Therefore, a space-time fusion prediction and detection method of burden level based on a long-term focus memory network (LFMN) and an efficient structure self-tuning RBF neural network (ESST-RBFNN) is proposed. First, the space dimensional features are extracted by the space regression model based on radar data. Then, the LFMN is designed to predict the burden level and extract the time dimensional features. Finally, the ESST-RBFNN based on a proposed fast eigenvector space clustering algorithm (ESC) is constructed to obtain reliable and continuous burden level information with high accuracy. Both the simulation results and industrial verification indicate that the proposed method can provide real-time and continuous burden level information in real-time, which has great practical value for industrial production.

Consumer Attitude towards Preserved Food in Rural and Urban Areas of Fayoum, Egypt

As the food preservation industry is considered one of the most important food industries in Egypt with relative importance equal to 21.27% of the total cumulative number of establishments and relative importance of 20.37% of the total value of industrial production. It’s essential to understand the consumption patterns for each preserved food category and each population category. This article aims at identifying the consumption patterns of preserved food in the rural and urban areas of Fayoum Governorate and what are the consumers’ attitudes towards it. A survey was designed and data collected by one-on-one interviews with a sample of 200 households, 100 from each area. Data tabulated and analyzed using simple statistical approaches. It’s found that the majority of consumers allocates 15%-30% of their incomes to purchased preserved food. Households including working-women are buying more preserved food. In urban areas, consumers tend to buy more canned and frozen food than those in rural areas. It’s also found that preserved meat, chicken and fish are demanded less than other canned and frozen food. The great majority of consumers in both areas tend to shape their preferences based on taste as a first priority. Other preferences such as packaging and labeling for each food group vary between rural and urban areas.

The role of typicality and novelty in the aesthetic preference of industrial products: Product value transformation

This study explores the role of typicality and novelty in influencing the aesthetic preference for industrial products. Typicality and novelty’s effects on the aesthetic responses of designed objects have gained interest in the field of experimental aesthetics over the past decades, with a wide support towards the ‘Most Advanced Yet Acceptable’ (MAYA) principle. What is yet to be discovered is how both typicality and novelty influence the aesthetic preference for industrial products such as industrial machineries. Three industrial product categories that vary in their degree of functionality and decorativeness were identified including highly functional and low-decorativeness products, equally functional and decorative products and low-functional and highly decorative products. Online evaluations using 7-point Likert scales were distributed to participants from Australia and the Republic of China. An empirically validated scale for aesthetic preference, ‘Pleasing to See’ was employed in the evaluation. The empirical results show that typicality and novelty affect and influence the aesthetic preference differently across the tested industrial product categories. Given the findings, a quantifiable evaluation method that can benefit the product design industry especially in testing design concepts of industrial products is proposed. It is intended that the evaluative measures could help minimize the risks related to production, leading to an increased and transformed value of industrial products’ marketability.

Nonlinear Seepage Mathematical Model of Fractured Tight Stress Sensitive Reservoir and Its Application

A tight reservoir can only have industrial production value after fracturing. After volume fracturing, there are artificial fracturing zones and fracturing unmodified zones composed of a matrix, microfractures, and main fractures. There are also pressure-sensitive effects and nonlinear seepage in the matrix. There is an unsteady channeling flow between the matrix and microfractures and main fractures and a threshold pressure gradient in the matrix. The fluid flow between the three media and the transfer flow between the media are very complex. Aiming at the problem of poor simulation accuracy because the above characteristics of tight reservoir fracturing development are not considered in the current commercial numerical simulation software Eclipse, CMG, and VIP, the triple medium coupling nonlinear mathematical model of tight reservoir fracturing development matrix/microfractures/main fractures was established in this study, and the discrete mathematical model was constructed using the full implicit numerical solution method. The model considered the effects of threshold fracturing gradient and nonlinear seepage on the reverse side of seepage. In terms of pressure-sensitive effect, the latest generalized pressure-sensitive effect calculation model, considering rock physical parameters established by authors, was adopted. In terms of matrix/fracture transfer flow, the nonlinear matrix/fracture transfer flow model considering threshold pressure gradient and pressure-sensitive effect established by authors was adopted. Finally, a tight reservoir numerical simulation software was developed based on a triple medium coupling nonlinear model. The software was used to simulate the development effect of turbidite tight reservoir in Wang 587 Block of Jiyang depression, Shengli Oilfield. The results showed that the fitting accuracy of the new model was 13.3% higher than that of Eclipse, and the calculation results were more in line with the production practice of tight reservoirs. The new model established an important theoretical basis for scientifically and effectively guiding the development of tight reservoirs.

Labour Absorption in the Manufacturing Industry Sector in Central Java Province Indonesia

The purpose of this research is to measure the effect of Industrial Investment, GRDP of Central Java Regency/City, Production Value, Number of Companies, and Regency/City Minimum Wage on Manpower Absorption in Manufacturing Industry in Central Java Province. Methodology : The study used the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) Multiple Regression Method. The data used is cross-sectional data for each indicator in all districts and cities in Central Java Province in 2018. Results : The results of the study concluded that Industrial Investment, Production Value and Number of Companies were positively and significantly related to the employment of the manufacturing industry in Central Java Province. District/City GRDP and MSEs show results that are contrary to the theory and are not significant.

The impact of innovation on the industrial enterprises’ cost in Ukraine

The article analyzes the impact of innovative development of industrial enterprises on the efficiency of their operation, namely on the cost of enterprises within the cost approach. The correlation-regression analysis of the dependence of enterprise value on the volume of innovation financing for industrial enterprises of Ukraine for the selected period of time, showed a direct relationship between the selected variables for analysis, and in combination with qualitative and quantitative analyzes confirmed the implementation of innovation. Scientific, journalistic, and static sources of information were used in the study. The subject of research in the article is the innovative development of enterprises in the context of the efficiency of enterprises, which is expressed in increasing the value of the company. The purpose of the article is to establish the dependence of the value indicator on such variables as the value of sold industrial products, the amount of funding for innovations for industrial enterprises, equity of industrial enterprises for the period 2008-2019. The paper aims to determine the role of innovation activities of enterprises within the innovation environment; to establish directions and forms of realization of innovative activity at the enterprises; analyze the dependence of cost indicators on the activity of innovation. The following methods are used: statistical, correlation-regression analysis, graphical. The following results were obtained: based on the analysis of the dynamics of changes in the main indicators of the value of industrial enterprises that implemented innovations, financed innovative development, the interdependence between increasing the value of companies and increasing the efficiency of innovation. The impact of the application of innovative development of enterprises in the context of maximizing its value is quantitatively calculated and proved. The article has proved the need for implementation and development of innovative activities in industrial enterprises in the formation of an innovative business strategy for the operation of economic entities, which is an important aspect of management decisions for company managers.

Evaluation of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of three different Rubus coreanus Miq. by-products

Purpose: To investigate the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of three different Rubus coreanus Miq. by-products in stimulated BV-2 microglial cells and explore its underlying physiological efficacy.Methods: Cell viability assessment was performed by 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was used to activate BV-2microglia. Total polyphenol and total flavonoid contents were determined by the method of Folin-Denis. As three different Rubus coreanus Miq. by-products remaining after extraction of Rubus coreanus, High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)) finger printing, ABST (2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging assay, and NO (nitric oxide) inhibitory assay were performed.Results: Three different Rubus coreanus by-product extract did not exhibit any signs of cytotoxicity to BV-2 cells up to 100 μg/ml concentration (p < 0.5). The LPS-activated excessive release of NO in BV-2 cells was significantly inhibited by Rubus coreanus by-product extract (p < 0.5) at 500 μg/mL). Total polyphenol and total flavonoid contents were highest in 50 % ethanol wine processing by-product (p < 0.5 at 30, 50, 70 and 100 %, respectively). The by-product of wine processing had the lowest RC50 radical scavenging effect (16.53 μL/ml). The quercetin content of the wine processing by-product was the highest in the 70% ethanol extract at 6.26 mg/g (p < 0.5 at 30, 50, 70 and 100%, respectively).Conclusion: These results reveal that of the three other by-products, wine processing by-product has the highest antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. The use of these by-products has high added value for industrial production; furthermore, they are a potential treatment for various inflammatory diseases.

ANALISIS REGULASI PENGEMBANGAN PRODUK UNGGULAN SUMATERA UTARA BERBASIS DESA

In North Sumatra, rural areas are areas that dominate extraordinary potential, such as agriculture, tourism, culinary and various community handicrafts. If it is managed and developed optimally, it can accelerate development in North Sumatra. The focus of developing the village and managing the city has been prepared through concrete steps that must be taken by the North Sumatra Provincial Government, while the development of leading industries in North Sumatra Province focuses on superior products per Regency/City. However, unfortunately the village or local government officials have not been maximal in following up on superior product programs. As for the purpose of this research, the purpose of research on regulations for the development of superior regional products is to be aligned with the objectives of developing superior product-based industries in North Sumatra Province by still referring to the regulations set by the minister of home affairs, namely (1). Increase the growth of the village-based leading product industry sector in North Sumatra, (2) Increase the export value of industrial products without oil and gas, (3). Increasing the value of investment in the industrial sector without oil and gas, (4) Increasing production and value-added regional potential. The method used in this study was a participatory approach through interviews to analyze local government understanding of how village-based regional superior product regulations or regulations can be useful in accordance with the goals and objectives of their preparation. The results of the research show that the regulations regarding the development of superior products of North Sumatra still refer to the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and also the understanding of the local government according to the statement indicators given and there is still no coordination between ORGANISASI

Transcriptional Regulation and Signaling of Developmental Programmed Cell Death in Plants.

Developmental programmed cell death (dPCD) has multiple functions in plant growth and development, and is of great value for industrial production. Among them, wood formed by xylem dPCD is one of the most widely used natural materials. Therefore, it is crucial to explore the molecular mechanism of plant dPCD. The dPCD process is tightly regulated by genetic networks and is involved in the transduction of signaling molecules. Several key regulators have been identified in diverse organisms and individual PCD events. However, complex molecular networks controlling plant dPCD remain highly elusive, and the original triggers of this process are still unknown. This review summarizes the recent progress on the transcriptional regulation and signaling of dPCD during vegetative and reproductive development. It is hoped that this review will provide an overall view of the molecular regulation of dPCD in different developmental processes in plants and identify specific mechanisms for regulating these dPCD events. In addition, the application of plants in industrial production can be improved by manipulating dPCD in specific processes, such as xylogenesis.
