Modeling doctor visits using a right-censored zero-inflated Conway–Maxwell Poisson regression

Count data with a single mode at zero and a few extreme counts in the outcome variable are frequently seen in medical research. In this article, the response variable—the number of doctor visits in a 3-month interval—exhibited an inflated zero frequency count and a few extreme values. We introduce a right-censored zero-inflated Conway–Maxwell Poisson (CZICMP) regression model to simultaneously handle the problems of excess zeros and extreme values. Parameter estimates were obtained using maximum likelihood. We compared the CZICMP model to alternative count regression models and assessed performance via a case study and a simulation study.

REDUCTION OF ACTIVE POWER LOSS BY CHAOTIC SEARCH BASED ARTIFICIAL BEE COLONY ALGORITHM

This paper presents Chaotic Search Based Artificial Bee Colony Optimization Algorithm (CSABC) for solving the optimal reactive power problem. Basic Artificial Bee Colony algorithm (ABC) has the advantages of strong robustness, fast convergence and high flexibility, fewer setting parameters, but it has the disadvantages premature convergence in the later search period and the accuracy of the optimal value which cannot meet the requirements sometimes. In this paper the Chaotic Local Search method is applied to solve the reactive power problem of global optimal value. The premature convergence issue of the Artificial Bee Colony algorithm has been improved by increasing the number of scout and rational using of the global optimal value and Chaotic Search. The proposed Chaotic Search Based Artificial Bee Colony Optimization (CSABC) algorithm has been tested in stand IEEE 30, 118- bus & practical 191 Indian utility test systems. The results show that the proposed algorithm performs well in reducing the real power loss and prevent premature convergence to high degree with rapid convergence.

РОЛЬ ЦІННОСТЕЙ У ПРОЦЕСІ ФОРМУВАННЯ МОТИВАЦІЇ ДО ПРАВОСВІДОМОСТІ МОЛОДІ

The study of the role of fundamental values in the formation of sense of justice is an important and relevant topic. The purpose of the study is to comprehensively consider the problems of values in youth, to determine how they affect to the formation of the sense of justice of the younger generation, and to study its role in the process of such formation. Values acquire value forms based on the psychological presentation of a person about the value of things or other objects of the material or intangible world. Values can be understood as a complex conception of human or group human about phenomena, rules, norms, processes, results, objects or other creation that are important to such a person or group of people and in one way or another to influence to this person or group of people. The process of forming the values of a young person begins with the emergence of needs. The needs determine desire, motivation, aspiration, which in the future leads to a subjective conception of value. Values that are related to the ideals of society will be called spiritual values. The modern young generation will persevere attention in focusing on the ideals of spiritual enrichment. At the same time, such a process is not possible without clear guarantees of satisfaction for young people in the first place basic needs. Sense of justice as a means of preventive persuasion, which will contribute to the prevention of crimes only because of the possibility and inevitability of punishment for them, will not fully fulfill its function. The inner conviction is important, as it acts as the reliable guarantor of the sense of justice behavior, which in the future will result in a positive attitude toward the right standards in the young man, and therefore very relevant is the orientation towards the harmonious combination of the young man's aspirations to the formation of values as spiritual as well as others. A clear and well-considered policy aimed at creating and maintaining right values will contribute to the successful formation of sense of justice among young people, which in turn will lead to the prosperity of our country.

Thermal Tomography with Unknown Boundary

Thermal tomography is an imaging technique for deducing information about the internal structure of a physical body from temperature measurements on its boundary. This work considers time-dependent thermal tomography modeled by a parabolic initial/boundary value problem without accurate information on the exterior shape of the examined object. The adaptive sparse pseudospectral approximation method is used to form a polynomial surrogate for the dependence of the temperature measurements on the thermal conductivity, the heat capacity, the boundary heat transfer coefficient, and the body shape. These quantities can then be efficiently reconstructed via nonlinear, regularized least squares minimization employing the surrogate and its derivatives. The functionality of the resulting reconstruction algorithm is demonstrated by numerical experiments based on simulated data in two spatial dimensions.

Linear Quadratic Stochastic Control Problems with Stochastic Terminal Constraint

We study a linear quadratic optimal control problem with stochastic coefficients and a terminal state constraint, which may be in force merely on a set with positive, but not necessarily full, probability. Under such a partial terminal constraint, the usual approach via a coupled system of a backward stochastic Riccati equation and a linear backward equation breaks down. As a remedy, we introduce a family of auxiliary problems parametrized by the supersolutions to this Riccati equation alone. The target functional of these problems dominates the original constrained one and allows for an explicit description of both the optimal control policy and the auxiliary problem's value in terms of a suitably constructed optimal signal process. This suggests that, for the minimal supersolution of the Riccati equation, the minimizers of the auxiliary problem coincide with those of the original problem, a conjecture that we see confirmed in all examples understood so far.

In this article we present problems of prognostic value of day-by-day blood pressure (BP) variability, its role in development and progression of damage of target organs in arterial hypertension, and impact on risk of cardiovascular, cerebral-vascular complications, and mortality. We also discuss methodological aspects of assessment of day-by-day BP variability. The article contains literature data on effects of antihypertensive therapy on variability of home BP, and consideration of evidence base of possibilities of the fixed amlodipine/perindopril combination for lowering day-by-day BP variability.

Egalitarian Allocations and the Inverse Problem for the Shapley Value

In a cooperative transferable utilities game, the allocation of the win of the grand coalition is an Egalitarian Allocation, if this win is divided into equal parts among all players. The Inverse Set relative to the Shapley Value of a game is a set of games in which the Shapley Value is the same as the initial one. In the Inverse Set, we determined a family of games for which the Shapley Value is also a coalitional rational value. The Egalitarian Allocation of the game is efficient, so that in the set called the Inverse Set relative to the Shapley Value, the allocation is the same as the initial one, but may not be coalitional rational. In this paper, we shall find out in the same family of the Inverse Set, a subfamily of games with the Egalitarian Allocation is also a coalitional rational value. We show some relationship between the two sets of games, where our values are coalitional rational. Finally, we shall discuss the possibility that our procedure may be used for solving a very similar problem for other efficient values. Numerical examples show the procedure to get solutions for the efficient values.

Stochastic model of deteriorating cargo transshipment at port’s terminal under irregular arrival of ships

In the article the stochastic model is analyzed for deteriorating cargo transshipment taking into account the irregularity of arrived ships movement and cargo removing from warehouse with the regular surface transport. It is assumed that unloading rate of ships is given and fixed, but hold capacities of ships are randomly varying. During storage the cargo is subjected to deterioration with the given intensity. The problem of stationary probabilistic joint distribution of number of ships in terminal and quantity of cargo in warehouse is investigated. For this purpose the theory of Markov drift processes and methods of queueing theory are used. The problem of optimal value of deterioration rate is formulated and solved.

On The Solutions of Some Difference Equations Systems and Analytical Properties

In this study, we investigated the global asymptotic behaviors of their solutions by taking the second-order difference equation system. According to the given conditions, we obtained some asymptotic results for the positive balance of the system. We have also worked on q-fast changing functions. Such functions form the class of q-Caramate functions. We have applied q-Caramate functions to linear q-difference equations and We have also learned about the asymptotic behavior of solutions. In addition, we have studied the problem of initial and boundary value for the q-difference equation

Probabilistic Prediction of the Complexity of Traveling Salesman Problems Based on Approximating the Complexity Distribution from Experimental Data

We show the results of a statistical study of the complexity of the asymmetric traveling salesman problem (ATSP) obtained by processing a specially generated pool of matrices. We show that the normal distribution can serve as an approximation to the distribution of the logarithm of complexity for a fixed problem dimension. We construct a family of probability distributions that represent satisfactory approximations of the complexity distribution with a dimension of the cost matrix from 20 to 49. Our main objective is to make probabilistic predictions of the complexity of individual problems for larger values of the dimension of the cost matrix. We propose a representation of the complexity distribution that makes it possible to predict the complexity. We formulate the unification hypothesis and show directions for further study, in particular proposals on the task of clustering “complex” and “simple” ATSP problems and proposals on the task of directly predicting the complexity of a specific problem instance based on the initial cost matrix.

Multi-criteria production theory: foundation of non-financial and sustainability performance evaluation

Multi-criteria production theory (MCPT) is a generalization of traditional production theories which has been developed in order to integrate concerns of modern management science and economics, in particular sustainability and environmental protection. Such as traditional production theory lays a foundation for cost (and revenue) theory, MCPT can be utilized to expand the knowledge regarding the theory and practice of non-financial performance evaluation, which is of major importance with distinct, conflicting objectives. Based on decision theory, the main idea behind MCPT is the capability to distinguish technologically determined inputs and outputs of a production system’s activity from its desired or undesired impacts on (artificial or natural) environments. The idea is formalized by multiple value functions. The paper clarifies the basic assumptions of MCPT in comparison to those of traditional production theories. For the special cases of linear and of monotonic value functions, two main theorems of MCPT are proven. Their application provides fruitful insights into some procedures and pitfalls of non-financial performance evaluation, especially those regarding ecological economics and data envelopment analysis. The main topics that are discussed address undesirable products and factors, hierarchies of performance evaluations, problems of non-monotonic value functions as well as the rationality of ‘technically inefficient’ production.

A functional partial differential equation arising in a cell growth model with dispersion

In this paper we solve an initial‐boundary value problem that involves a pde with a nonlocal term. The problem comes from a cell division model where the growth is assumed to be stochastic. The deterministic version of this problem yields a first‐order pde; the stochastic version yields a second‐order parabolic pde. There are no general methods for solving such problems even for the simplest cases owing to the nonlocal term. Although a solution method was devised for the simplest version of the first‐order case, the analysis does not readily extend to the second‐order case. We develop a method for solving the second‐order case and obtain the exact solution in a form that allows us to study the long time asymptotic behaviour of solutions and the impact of the dispersion term. We establish the existence of a large time attracting solution towards which solutions converge exponentially in time. The dispersion term does not appear in the exponential rate of convergence.

Two-Wave Interactions in the Fermi–Pasta–Ulam Model

This work is devoted to investigating the dynamic properties of the solutions to the boundaryvalue problems associated with the classic Fermi–Pasta–Ulam (FPU) system. We analyze these problems for an infinite-dimensional case where a countable number of roots of characteristic equations tend to an imaginary axis. Under these conditions, we build a special nonlinear partial differential equation that acts as a quasi-normal form, i.e., determines the dynamics of the original boundary-value problem with the initial conditions in a sufficiently small neighborhood of the equilibrium state. The modified Korteweg–deVries (KdV) equation and the Korteweg–de Vries–Burgers (KdVB) equation act as quasi-normal forms depending on the parameter values. Under some additional assumptions, we apply the renormalization procedure to the boundary-value problems obtained. This procedure leads to an infinite-dimensional system of ordinary differential equations. We describe a method for folding this system into a special boundary- value problem, which is an analog of the normal form. The main contribution of this work is investigating the interaction of the waves moving in different directions in the FPU problem by using analytical methods of nonlinear dynamics. It is shown that the mutual influence of the waves is asymptotically small, does not affect their shape, and contributes only to a shift in their speeds, which does not change over time.

The P Value Problem in Otolaryngology: Shifting to Effect Sizes and Confidence Intervals.

There is a lack of reporting effect sizes and confidence intervals in the current biomedical literature. The objective of this article is to present a discussion of the recent paradigm shift encouraging the use of reporting effect sizes and confidence intervals. Although P values help to inform us about whether an effect exists due to chance, effect sizes inform us about the magnitude of the effect (clinical significance), and confidence intervals inform us about the range of plausible estimates for the general population mean (precision). Reporting effect sizes and confidence intervals is a necessary addition to the biomedical literature, and these concepts are reviewed in this article.

Contact Mechanics in Computational Homogenization

AbstractConcerning homogenization, we consider in this contribution periodic boundary‐interface value problems (BIVP) within representative volume elements (RVE), which contain porous materials consisting of possibly many separate objects. For instance, these RVEs are available from micro scans in voxel resolution. However, the occurrence of contact between deformable, solid objects requires advanced techniques of methods solving common elasticity problems. With regard to that, we will demonstrate the treatment of contact between each of those by means of an implicit boundary description, used for both surface reconstruction and contact detection. Furthermore, a new technique for solving contact problems is introduced which can be easily integrated as material law routine into so called fast solvers [1], performing on Cartesian grids and exploiting the fast Fourier transform (FFT). «MENTAL SPACE» UKRAINIAN SOCIETY: PhILOSOPhICAL AND CULTURAL DISCOURSE

Mental issues gained a new meaning in the light of social and cultural changes early XXI century, it becomes a tool for interdisciplinary study of the social and human processes.Broadly mental space presents the functioning of individual and social consciousness and his condition is determined by the content of such concepts as «mentality», «identity» and axiological foundation functioning society. In the mental space of just mentality mindset is constant basis for determining the individual and society courses, values, value- regulatory guidelines.The structure of the national mentality contains a lot of levels and components, but, in our view, attribute values are as follows: – «archetypal» component mentality – system components archetypes and the collective unconscious; cognitive component – the image of the world and ways of thinking collective subject; value-semantic component – values, values orientation, ideals and regulations; emotional component – evaluation, emotions, feelings; behavioral component – the motives and behavior. It is noted that each of these components has an unconscious and conscious level, through national mentality phenomenon affects stable and unstable structural state. All this forms the so-called «mental space», which is a set of values basics mentality sphere of operation and its results expressed in the formation of social and cultural identity.Mental space has several basic centers (points) on which is identified members of society, and circulates the mentality of the individual. Powerful external influences / changes (economic, political, national homogeneity environment, etc.) or the emergence of crisis (unsteady) mentality cause mental space transformation of society, as reflected in the development of new mental structures and updating existing content. Changes occurring mental space according to the trends of society. Mental space postmodern Ukrainian society undoubtedly marked remnants of the Soviet era which essentially is a combination of opposite qualities, on the one hand, low self- discipline, disunity, legal nihilism, paternalism, extremism, intolerance, and on the other, tolerance, excessive patience, judgment, adaptability, creativity, receptivity to new, generosity, sense of duty and the pursuit of high morality. The basic causes inhibition of modernization of Ukrainian society related to the spiritual sphere, which is an integral basis of changes in Ukrainian society, defined The priority objective of this process – the formation of the new man and the new community.One of the key issues of the spiritual life of Ukraine is to overcome an identity crisis. Modernization of Ukrainian society depends on the socio-cultural identification of its members. However, keeping a national, ethnic, civic identity, it is important to overcome as a relic of the past regional distribution of people and the state, which should be the basis for social integration based on shared values and goals. Overcoming the crisis of identity and should contribute to the consolidation of Ukrainian society and reduce its conflict, and the growth potential of the life of the people and the state as a whole. A society where consensus regarding its spiritual foundations which are recognized and accepted by all members of society – can be seen as a stable system capable of constructive changes since eliminated the main source of internal contradictions regarding the consistency and focus of future development. Today we can say that the destruction of the old model of identity in Ukraine actually occurred, but instead a new model of socially legitimized and enshrined option is not yet fixed. In addition, existing efforts to design a new model of identity is often possible to trace the identification of national and ethnic identity that from a theoretical point of view is incorrect, and on a practical level – false.Complicated geopolitical situation, destructive political events, prolonged situation of«fuzziness» of values shifted the emphasis today in the Ukrainian society available is fluctuating identity that actualizes the problem of traditional spiritual values, goodness, freedom, justice, conscience, mutual respect, human dignity, humanity, family values, etc. In today’s extremely dynamic world mental space Ukrainian society is prone to transformation. However, talking about a substantial change in the mental space of Ukraine is not correct, it certainly incorporates new meanings and values, but deep initial interpretation is not lost.

An existence and uniqueness principle for a nonlinear version of the Lebowitz‐Rubinow model with infinite maximum cycle length

The present article deals with existence and uniqueness results for a nonlinear evolution initial‐boundary value problem, which originates in an age‐structured cell population model introduced by Lebowitz and Rubinow (1974) describing the growth of a cell population. Cells of this population are distinguished by age a and cycle length l. In our framework, daughter and mother cells are related by a general reproduction rule that covers all known biological ones. In this paper, the cycle length l is allowed to be infinite. This hypothesis introduces some mathematical difficulties. We consider both local and nonlocal boundary conditions.

Interplay between the Inverse Scattering Method and Fokas's Unified Transform with an Application

AbstractIt is known that the initial‐boundary value problem for certain integrable Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) on the half‐line with integrable boundary conditions can be mapped to a special case of the inverse scattering method (ISM) on the full‐line. This can also be established within the so‐called unified transform (UT) of Fokas for initial‐boundary value problems with linearizable boundary conditions. In this paper, we show a converse to this statement within the Ablowitz‐Kaup‐Newell‐Segur (AKNS) scheme: the ISM on the full‐line can be mapped to an initial‐boundary value problem with linearizable boundary conditions. To achieve this, we need a matrix version of the UT that was introduced by the author to study integrable PDEs on star‐graphs. As an application of the result, we show that the new, nonlocal reduction of the AKNS scheme introduced by Ablowitz and Musslimani to obtain the nonlocal nonlinear Schrödinger (NLS) equation can be recast as an old, local reduction, thus putting the nonlocal NLS and the NLS equations on equal footing from the point of view of the reduction group theory of Mikhailov.

Minimization of mean square error for improved euler elliptic curve secure hash cryptography for textual data

Elliptic Curve Cryptography is a currently pursued research topic to be used in the security system that enhances the performance of unexpected character at the time of decryption process. In comparison with the traditional cryptosystems, for example, the RSA i.e. Rivest Shamir Algorithm, an Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) provides equal security with the use of smaller key sizes, which produces faster computations, power usage is lowered, as well as memory usage and bandwidth variations are less. In the proposed technique, Euler based Elliptic curve secure hash (ECSH-Euler) that overcome the problem of Euler Totient function based on fixed key for prime number coefficient corresponding matrix based on the plain text’s ASCII values is proposed. Values in a pair are defined as input for the hash key in the ECC. This new technique removes the need for the costly operation where mapping is done and the where there exists a requirement of sharing the same ASCII matrix for both purposes that are encryption and decryption .Both, the lookup table that is common between the sender - receiver along with the equation provides more security due to the reason of producing a numerical solution to a problem of initial value. Thus in this, a comparison of existing ECC and ECSH-Euler is also shown that resulted in minimization of RMSE for our proposed technique, which is simulated in MATLAB-2014Ra tool.
