«Katalanisch» oder «Valencianisch»?: zum sprachlichen Sezessionismus im Land València

In 1932, spelling rules for the native language of the Valencian Country were accepted in the Valencian city of Castelló. In fact, this decision meant the acceptance of the rules proposed by Pompeu Fabra for the Catalan language and consequently also the implicit acceptance of the essential identity of Valencian with Catalan. Despite this almost unanimous verdict of all the Valencian cultural forces, attempts at linguistic secessionism that seek to establish Valencian as a literary language independent of Catalan have continued to this day. With the recent electoral successes of a political party (Unió Valenciana) defending this secessionist position, the issue is once again very acute. Against this background, the article re-examines the main claims of secessionists in their academic and philological form, in order to determine the extent to which they can claim to be scientific. It is concluded that none of its central claims have been accepted by the rest of the international scientific community and that the so-called valencianophilia of secessionists often seems to be nothing more than an irrational and ill-concealed catalanophobia whose ultimate goal is la replacement of Catalan in the Valencian Country by Spanish.

L'impact des chemins de fer dans l'économie espagnole : le cas de l'agriculture du pays Valencien, 1850-1914

Abstract The railways worked in Spain during the second half of the 19th century as an instrument for the settlement of the national market. On this context, the rail network in the Valencian country encouraged the agrarian product development at regional scale. On one hand, commercial growings, such as oranges and wine, were introduced into the international market. On the other hand, the railway constituted a decisive element in the delivery of manure, guano, fertilizers and other inputs which were necessary to improve the specialization and intensification of agriculture.

Se da cuenta del hallazgo de dos abrigos con pinturas rupestres esquemáticas en el Barranc del Bosquet (Moixent, Valencia). Se analizan los temas representados, entre los que destacan por su abundancia y variedad tipológica las figuras humanas, y se realizan una serie de consideraciones sobre la cronología y significado de esta manifestación artística prehistórica en el País Valenciano.

Aportaciones al conocimiento del Portus Illicitanus: reseña de los trabajos de urgencia de 1976. La terra sigillata

En este trabajo se ofrece una reseña de las excavaciones de urgencia realizadas en 1976 en el Portus Illicitanus, con una visión de las fases culturales que allí se desarrollaron. Se presenta un catálogo de las cerámicas romanas imperiales halladas durante los trabajos, destacando los ejemplares de Clara Lucente y Clara B, así como los vasos con relieves aplicados, documentos que venían siendo considerados raros o inexistentes en esta parte del País Valenciano.
