Vagina is the first organ of mammalian female reproductive system and its secretions are the transudates of vaginal linings which play a dominant role in sperm capacitation 91) and transportation. Studies have been conducted on the effects of contraceptives (2) and intravaginal tampons on the biochemistry of vagina as well as vaginal fluid (3). There is an increase in the amount of vaginal fluid at the time of expected ovulation (4). Kistner (5) reported scanty vaginal secretion rich in progestin due to use of oral contraceptives.
