Observational evidence of optical cyclotron emission from discrete regions on the highly magnetic white dwarf components of AM Herculis type binaries is presented on the basis of linear and circular polarimetry of EF Eri, AM Her, VV Pup, and V834 Cen. About the geometry of the main emitting region in VV Pup our simultaneousUBVRI photometry during the eclipse by the white dwarf shows that the size of the emitting region (0.1–0.3 in units of the white dwarf radius) increases by a factor of about two from ultraviolet to near-infrared.
